Kasambwe Brothers - Malawi Africa

Originally formed in 1987, the Kasambwe Brothers performed primarily in the streets ofMalawi, Africa. Using homemade instruments, a bass guitars crafted from a tree branchand suitcase drum set made with animal skin, this dynamic trio creates infectiousgrooves using traditional rhythm and soulful harmony. Inspired by their deep culturalheritage, their music has transcended borders and has began captivating audiencesworldwide. Band member Konzani Chikwata explains that “The unique thing about ourmusic is that we are greatly inspired by our tradition”.The band is presently working on their first album in conjunction with the Mass MoCa,The FreshGrass Foundation, The Jacaranda Foundation and Hen House Studios.
