I'm born and raised in America, and I think you guys have eaten more American food than me! 😮
Central Texas was heavily settled by Czech immigrants. There are lots of Czech bakeries and kolaches are part of that legacy
Kolaches shops everywhere in Houston.

Apricot and cream cheese Kolaches are my favorite pastry in the world with blueberry scones coming in second!
I literally live 2 miles from RR Doughnuts. They are one of the best you can find anywhere in Texas.
I was staying in TownPlace Suites right down the road for work and was told by a local about it and went there a lot the 2 months I was there.
Pretty good, not Shipley good, but good.
Round rock donuts are the best donuts, ever. Not fancy, not ostentatious, not pretentious. Just good.
Listen, Until you've tried Bob's Donuts in San Francisco, you DO NOT know what you say.
@@julesmo323 I'm from Round Rock, and I live here. They are overhyped beyond anything I've come across. I prefer Krispy Kreme to round rock donuts. I will have to go to Cali to try Bob's.
Round rock donuts use whole egg in the batter…hence the yellowish color…RR donuts are a 9 out of 10
I thought this, too, until I tried the Salty Donut. But RRD have a large piece of my heart ❤️
Going around the US and seeing how much food is available and how many different types and cultures are represented, it is easy to understand how people crave so many different things and why so many Americans have issues with their weight. There is so much great food and so much of it is not even from places that anyone passing through would hear about because they are tucked into neighborhoods or they are traveling food trucks or mom and pop diners. It would be easy to find a different and incredibly good place to eat at least twice in a day, every day just in Los Angeles, or Cleveland or Chicago or New Orleans and the list goes on and on. I believe that Americans are obsessed with flavor and when people come here to visit, it is as much a foodie vacation as it is an adventure of exploration of the country itself. If all you did was visit the different fusion restaurants, it would take months to hit just the best ones. I used to go to a diner that was French-Philippine fusion and it was so interesting and delicious. Husband was from Philippines and wife from France. I would eat lunch in that dining car at least twice a week and never had anything that wasn't crave worthy. I think someone needs to write a book called Eating America (if someone already hasn't) that is about spending several years eating their way all across the country.
5:35 I love when people visibly sink/melt into their seat because the food is so good. I've worked in the food industry most of my life, and it never gets old!
LOL! Thats so funny! Thank you for watching!
Round Rock is famous for their head-size donut 🍩.
Round Rock Donuts are the BEST Donuts in Texas !!!
I paused this video at 2:24 to post this comment (and then I will resume watching). I just HAD to say this. I literally ....daily...wait for your videos! You two are my favorite people on TH-cam. Such a delight to watch. I live in Phoenix, Arizona (but was born and raised in Michigan). All of my life I have wanted to go to two places: New York and England. I haven't been able to visit either one (yet). I'm so happy I found you guys on TH-cam. You bring such joy to us! Thank you. P.S. You both have me cracking up laughing! Nicola, you are naturally funny. Andrew you are too and you have me laughing when I hear you say, "I'll be the judge of that". LOL
WOW!!!! Your comment has made our day. We're thrilled to hear that you enjoy our videos so much. Thank you for taking the time to comment!!!
@@thebritstry(Re-read my comment and noticed my typos: “be” instead of “me”. 🤯😆). You both are so very welcome 🤗.
They missed a treat not getting a savory kolache. One of the best things I found while living in Texas was a quick kolache filled with sausage, cheese and eggs was great for a quick breakfast. Then maybe a sweet kolache to wash it down, haha. I just found out we have a Shipley's in GA so one morning is going to be getting some jalapeno, cheese and sausage kolaches.
Klobásník is the right name for those. So good!
@@rhyblank In Texas kolache is much more known. I think they got to Texas via St Louis but outside of Austin they really have changed the base of what they are. Breading is different and filling is much different than some places in Austin which have a closer connection to the America Klobasnek. The Texas kolache is a different variation.
@@rnkelly36 I'm from Texas. Yes kolache is what most everyone knows but Klobásník is technically the name for the savory kolaches. We know a lady that had her own shop called Czech Please and had kolaches and Klobásník and she made sure everyone knew that there is a difference! Her family is Czech

@@BearStar1 Right however when a food moves cultures it changes for that culture. The store chains around Houston just call them all kolaches. It happens with all foods around the globe that catch on in other places. Look up the migration of Tikka into Britain for example. Most shops that have created similar foods have simplified for the popular culture. Every time I hear the term sweet bread I laugh because what I grew up knowing as sweet bread is not what popular culture knows it as.
Went to visit our son in Round Rock last May. We didn't know about the doughnuts and of course the health nut didn't offer up that information. We are returning in September and aim to correct this oversight.
Thanks for your time.
Your son needs a serious talking to. How dare he?! Seriously, they are so good. The plain glazed ones (hot) are what they are famous for. They’ve even topped best donuts in the US lists. Their sausage kolaches are very good too.
@@JillWKinchen The talking to, took place after we got home from our grand tour of the west. We hadn't seen him in over a year, so we hit the HEB and started cooking for him. Mama made her famous mac and cheese and Papa made him a kettle of home made skettie sauce. Plus two pounds of home made meatballs to freeze!
This September will be a little different. We have informed him he owes us a trip for doughnuts!!!
@SwimCoach8 Will you pretty please eat one for me? Diabetic here but I'm trying to be good.
It fills my heart with joy when British travel enthusiasts come to Central Texas/ Austin area and experience Texas cuisine and delicacies for the first time. They confirm what people who were born here, like myself, have always known. That Texas cuisine has a flavor uniquely it’s own.
We had a great time in Austin and can't wait to revisit or explore more of Texas, in the future. Thanks for watching!
@@thebritstry Please do. You have a second home here!
Ahhh I live down the street from Round Rock Donuts!!! So glad y’all got to try them! Welcome to Tex-ass. Lol
They didnt have the orange glazed ones....thats what they are famous for how can you go somewhere with out doing research of WHY the spot is famous...this is their 3rd time doing this...They had SOUL FOOD (cajun)in Nalins and famous biscuits and Gravy in California......I bet they have BBQ in Canada and say we are in the BBQ capital of the world.......lololol
Round rock donuts is the best donuts I’ve had! Love that place ❤️
Most people I know do not like Nutella. Myself included, thanks for the shout out, it's greatly appreciated. Love your videos❤.
It seems to be a common theme in the comments that a lot of people do not like Nutella, which surprises us. You are very welcome. Thank you so much for watching. 😀
@@thebritstry I'm another one of them. I'm not a fan of hazelnuts to begin with so that was an immediate strike against it. My mom likes hazelnuts but there's something about the combination with chocolate that puts her off Nutella. My sister will eat it but she doesn't go out of her way to buy it, lol. My brother doesn't like most nuts so no way he's going there :)
Same I can't stand the stuff.
I’m here to add myself to the not fond of Nutella group. I don’t hate it, but it very quickly becomes too much for me.
As a donut seeker outer, 5 Daughters in Nashville still holds my personal "best" of donuts. Their 100 layer donut made my friend cry the first time he ate one it was so good. The Donut Mill in Kalamazoo, MI comes in a close second.
Wow! That sounds amazing.
Her tasting expressions are very --passionate LOL Enjoy guys welcome to the USA
Especially when there's cream involved... LOL
Those first three donut desserts are probably the best donut desserts I have ever seen in my life and nobody has ever did a video of these. Congratulations❤❤❤❤
They were delicious and so fresh, we are trying to do different videos and we have more to come.😀 Thanks for watching.
I live a few miles from Round Rock Donuts and I'm a huge fan of their chocolate eclairs. To be honest the Krispy Kreme might be better than these. Usually I follow up with a bag of donut holes as they don't calories.. (for anyone thinking the "they are orange" they don't taste like orange it's just a coloring thing.
as a native round rockian, I appreciate you bringing more fame and likes to our awesome little donut shop.
It was a pleasure to try it, we really enjoyed the donuts. 🤗
@@thebritstry been loving your videos, obviously I'm biased towards the Texas ones, but ya'll are a gas and have me in deep belly laughs nearly the whole time.
I LOVE APPLE FRITTERS!
Are y'all collaborating with Mr. H & Friends? They were heading from Florida to North Carolina but changed their minds mid-trip & headed to Austin instead. The next day I find you two in Austin!
Oh my, never wanted to try donuts more. This elevates donuts to a whole new level!
You gave Nicola a bunch of sugar? Best of luck to everyone 😂
Here is a shout out from a Nutella hater. You can have my share of it. I love watching you two. I hope you both are doing well.
Thank you so much! Andrew will definitely have your share of Nutella, he's always trying to steal mine too!😂
I worked in Round Rock back in the 80s, before the donuts became the pop phenom. They were just a little Mom & Pop bakery, but they had the touch. Great donuts will not be denied.
They really know what they are doing. 😀
The best kolache's I have ever had in my years travelling and doing outside sales was from the shops in West Texas (the town). If you guys get a chance to go to Corsicana Texas you need to go to Collin Street Bakery. They have great eats and a killer fruit cake.
Collin Street Backery is yummy!!!
Love the Czech Stop in West!

We are hoping to visit them all! We would love any recommendations. Let us know if you have any suggestions?
I once baked a sheet cake thinking I had a can of icing.. well I didn't.. but I had a jar of Nutella, so I warmed it a few seconds and used it to ice the cake.. it was a hit! Everyone surprised it was Nutella. Try it sometime yourself.
Thanks for coming to Austin! This was really great to watch! Oh, and you are right about RR doughnuts, wonderful!
Thank you for watching! we are glad you enjoyed the video and the donuts. Austin has such a great food scene!
Everyplace in the United States has a great local donut shop. Ours is Spudnut Shop (potato flour donuts) that have been showcased on the Travel Channel’s Donut Paradise.
I don’t think any states have bad doughnuts! You just gotta find the spot. I love TX kolaches, though! And, I put the airstream place on my Austin list! 😋
try savory kolaches! Czech stop in Waco has a jalapeño kolache that is to die for, also their apricot cream cheese kolache is 🤌🤌

Love watching you and your husband trying food
Yay! Thank you! And thanks for watching
Beautiful thing about donut joints in Central Texas, they usually have kolaches and breakfast tacos.
I used to live near the Round Rock Donuts shop, I worked at Dell Computers at the time, and stopping by for a few delicious RR donuts was an almost daily event. Best of the best, I'd say.
We could see if we lived close to it, we would be there daily.
I love watching your videos and wish I had known you were in Round Rock
Looks delicious. I’m in Houston and curious if there’s one here. By the way, Welcome to Texas. Hope you enjoy your visit.
Every time I watch you, I am starving afterwards. I need to go to Texas soon! If you ever come to Philly, would love to meet you and show you around.
Thank you for the support! If We ever make it to Philly, I'll definitely hit you up for a food tour.
I love Donuts and pastries and that spot looks amazing
Oh those cherry bomb ones would be my favorite!
"I'm sitting on the fence and I'm getting splinters"...TOTALLY stealing that, Nicola, LOL!
The cherry was delicious, in fact they were all good! lol you steal away!😂🤣
I can say those donuts are good! Luckily my in laws live really close to this donut shop, so being able to get these when visit Cedar Park is literally a nice treat
I lived a mile away from Round Rock Donuts for 20 years. I was so blessed. They also make a really special Boston Cream Pie; those sell out quickly.
Boston Cream Pie is my favorite cake!
I went to the middle school down the street from Round Rock Donuts. Would go there once a week before school for donuts. 😄 I enjoy having a plain donut from time to time. I also love the Eclaire, but I have to have it with milk because it's so sweet for me!
Fredericksburg is an interesting town.. Germans settled there.. stories are mixed how they got there, but despite possible deception by folks selling the Germans on lies.. the German restaurant there is great. Reminded me of the German restaurants that used to be in Milwaukee WI, a place many Germans also settled. Wild flowers abound. There are so many different foods in the US because great grandparent, and new LEGAL immigrants bring their foods and adapt to what supplies are available in the area.
Plain cake donuts are one of my favorite. Their unbeatable with a cup of coffee. Simple lightly sweet.
We totally understand! Plain cake donuts and coffee make for the best combo,
Wow those Gourdough's donuts looked amazing!!! Super expensive though! Round Rock Donuts are famous - have been featured on many food shows. The apple fritter looked good - love apple fritters but it needs chunks of apple in it. Great video Nicola and Andrew!
I love apple fritters and Tastee Doughnuts has some good donuts, coffee, and Kastle burgers. It's y'all favorite place, New Orleans. It might not be the best looking place, but it has some damn good food LoL. Great video, y'all.
I have driven over 2 hours to get Round Rock donuts. They are the best on the planet! But for the best kolaches, you need to go to West, Tx and the Czech Stop. After stopping at RR Donuts, I kept going on IH 35 and hit The Czech Stop before coming back home to San Antonio. Best Texas road trip ever.
Thanks for the advice! next time we will look up Lawnside BBQ .Thanks for watching
Another great one guys!
A Breakfast Pastry worthy of a Reaction is a "Bear Claw" . I think you'd enjoy them!
Ok. Now I want a donut! 😊 🍩
😊😊😊
Me Too!!! Thanks for watching
Drive a little south to San Marcos and go to Gil's Broiler. They have the best cinnamon roll I've ever tasted. It's called the Manske Roll. President LBJ went to school there & he used to have them shipped to the white house when he was president. I haven't had one in a while, but people tell me they taste the same. If you go, you should go on a warm day when the weather is nice & check out the San Marcos River.
Never been to Blackpool (or England in general), but our state fair has mini donuts that are rolled in table sugar and sold nice and warm in a paper pouch. So good.
The Minnesota state fair would be a great place to sample great fair classics like fried cheese curds and funnel cakes.
Sounds very similar to what we had in the UK. There is nothing better than a warm donut. We have added your recommend to our list. Thanks for watching. 😀
Every weekend that I go to class, I MUST go to Round Rock Donuts as part of the curriculum!
They are so good!!! we wish we lived closer😂
I lived in Round Rock for a few years...and those donuts are the best I've ever had.
They were really good! It was a really nice town too! Thanks for watching
Love the reaction guys.
Thank you so much for taking the time to watch!
I agree about the choco glaze at 2nd place. It’s very traditional - I could taste it now - but I like more chocolaty frosting. The traditional is too…sweet. 😁
That first place, though…yum!!! On my list!
We do have great cherries in the usa. I love cherries on cheesecake, so the donut holes would probably be my favorite fancy one, and I love a custard filled chocolate glazed eclaire, too.
They were so big and tasty.
I’m so glad y’all tried the kolaches. Savory is quite good too. Usually with sausage. Texas is the place to eat them.
They were so good, and so soft.
@@thebritstry Are y’all still in TX? I’m surprised how much you two tried there!
I’m living in what I call “North Texas”, Arkansas. I really miss a lot of the wonderful food. I’ve been trying to recreate a good kolache at home but no luck so far. 😪
I don't know if I ever tried the fancy dressed doughnuts at Round Rock. I'm just crazy for the plain glazed. They have such a dreamy texture...so soft and fluffy but retaining a subtle chew. Exactly what I want in a doughnut. You are also in Shipley's territory which were the main doughnuts we ate when I was a child. Not as rich a flavor as some of the more modern shops but they nail that utra-soft pillowy, slightly chewy texture. If you make it further North up I-35 toward Dallas you will pass into the town of West, where you will be in the kolache capital of Texas. There's probably a dozen different kolache shops, all slightly different, all delicious. My fave are cheese filled and any cheese/fruit combo. While you are in Texas, stop by on of the many Sonic Drive-ins for a cherry limeaid which includes their signiture tender crunchy ice. Unique and wonderful. I used to have these almost daily when I lived there❤
You are right, they are fluffy with a subtle chew, we also enjoyed the Kolache, so a town that specializes in them will definitely be on the list of places we need to try. 😀
This is making me weak watching it! LOL Great job!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Don't forget Tex Mex, Czech food from West and Chicken fry while y'all are here.
My kids loved these when they were little.
They are so good! which is your favorite? Thank you so much for watching
@@thebritstry I just liked the plain ones, but when I told my kids to pick one each they would point to the giant donut with hope in their hearts I would count that as “one.” And I did, once or twice.
i grew up in memphis there is a place called gibsons donuts , they are So good , Fresh out of the fryer and glazer they just dissolve in your mouth , and the apple fritters are Soo good .
Looking forward to trying this place in Austin I live in Dallas I'm going to head down to Austin sometime in June for a few days I'm going to check out every place you guys have been to
The chocolate glazed donut is by far the best. Keep it classic and simple says this Austinite!
Thanks for the content as always great to see you two's energy even if it was doughnut powered lol. there are so many American dishes i would love to recommend from Philly cheese steak to Maryland style crabs and shrimp. Or even deep fried cheese curds. or a trip to try things you have never seen at any of the local fairs. born and raised in the usa traveled all over most of the states and so many dishes to enjoy.
We are hoping to visit them all! Thanks for the recommendations. Thanks for taking the time to comment.

They were so delicious!!! great to here you got bonus free doughnuts!!! Thank you for watching
Round Rock Donuts are a yolk batter not a cake batter thus the uellow/orange. RR is my hometown. I started going to Lone Stary Bakery in 1976.
Thanks for explaining this. 😀

What would hubby do if he got the first bite for a change....lol. It's 10pm here in Ohio as I'm watching this and darn it - I'm so hungry for a donut! Those looked delicious!! Hummm....thinking maybe donut run for breakfast tomorrow! LOL

You guys would love New York pizza, Italian food and bagels.
Thanks for the recommendation! 😉 Watch this space!!! but where should we try?? let us know

RR Donuts are famous for their plain glazed donuts. Bummer they weren’t hot. That’s the only way I’ve ever had them and they are incredible hot. Also a bummer you didn’t try a savory kolache (I get it since you were trying sweets) because they’re fantastic. The jalapeño and cheese sausage kolache… So good.
Round Rock donuts are great! Jealous of you getting kolaches, they are Czech and hard to find (at least good ones) outside of Central TX
The donuts were amazing, and so were the kolaches. 😀
