I have so enjoyed this entire project with little Gretchen! She really knows how to tug my old heartstrings. I love the finished cupboard, too. I would make a simple suggestion, if you like. Back when I was little, I remember that all the housewives would buy "shelf paper" at the 5 & 10 c store to line their shelves in the kitchen and pantry. They always had a little overhanging border with scalloped edges, to make it look sweet and pretty. Or sometimes Mommy used the older pinking shears, (NEVER her good ones!), to cut scallops on edges of freezer paper, if there wasn't enough of the store-bought kind to finish the job. Seemed like she always relined shelves before Thanksgiving, and when she finished Spring-cleaning. That would really add some realism for your shelves too. You could probably find scrapbooking scissors with a tiny scallop cutting edge. I always see them at the dollar stores and the thrift shops, nowadays.
Bonnie You are So RIGHT! The Crazy part is had i lovely piece of scrap lace THAT was a part my original Idea! BUT I had finished Filming and into the editing when I realized that i never pulled the lace out of the box. I will put it on my list of " Finishing touches! Great minds think alike!! Thank you for the reminder!
Straight up I am loving how being a bit haphazard with the staining and painting is all a part of creating the patina. Too often striving for perfection, takes away a lot of the charm. Love it!

The cabinet is beautiful! The stain and paint combination as you did them is stunning - lovely looking “old patina,” but at the same time, so bright and cheery! You are incredibly talented - the build is also amazing! I am going to attempt a similar cabinet - thanks for the tutorial and wonderful end result - very inspiring! Kathleen

The 1st cabinet I ever made didn't come out like I imagined either.....but I kept doing it, i made it again and again and each time i learned something and got better. It took me a while to try again but i realized only difference between the 1st and THIS one is PRACTICE!
Hey Shirley! It's By Folk Art Acrylic and color is called Succulent! I stained the cabinet with wood stain 1st hen painted over it, which helped it look more vintage.
