      Oh that's a shame Nicky. I don't think I could ever be without my machines. It's never too late to start making again though 😃👍 Thank you for your kind comments.

      Oh that's great 👍 Hopefully you can see enough from this video to learn how to make them as it wasn't really a tutorial video, just a workroom time-lapse. I'm glad it helped ☺

      Hi, yes that's right. I don't reveal too much detail of the making metjods here on my public TH-cam channel to protect the integrity of curtainmakers in the business. I have more detailed and advanced tutorials over on my Patreon channel for the trade so if you are in the business you may want to join us over there.

    Enjoyed this video and super informative! Can you recommend pleat spacing measurements? Would appreciate it😊 thanks in advance!

    • @WindmillCurtainRoom
      @WindmillCurtainRoom  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you for your comments Mari. The pleat spacing is impossible to suggest as it depends on the size of the original curtain before pleating and the finished size of curtain required. Generally you'd want the spaces around 5-6". Once you've worked out how many of those you can fit across the finished width you can calculate how much fabric is left and divide that up to get your pleat size. Sorry it's not straightforward but it takes a little maths to get it right 🤪

    Loved seeing start to finish however, it would have been more helpful to slow the film down at key points and verbally explain what you are doing and why for instance: attaching the lining to sides, at bottoms and the difference, what you did at the seams with the lining, was it attached to just the seam allowances or through the actual drape seam and why this was done, attaching lining at the top in prep for the cartridge sewing this would have been so much more helpful to provide a show and tell of a couple of cartridges then speed up the rest and then a spot light on anything else that needs to be addressed when finishing up the drapes. Very pretty drapes, but it would have been so much more helpful with key concepts pointed out. Thank you, I did watch attaching the lining at the sides and bottom a few times and now know where I went wrong previously when I made drapes 😊

      Hello Kim, thanks for your feedback. Many of my videos available to the public on TH-cam are deliberately not that detailed, as requested by the trade curtainmaking community i also serve. I have a separate Patreon channel just for the trade that has tutorials that go into much more detail.

Thanks for being patient as I discover your videos and develop my.skills

    Is that the single sided fusible buckram? It’s so hard to get here in Ireland 😢

    • @WindmillCurtainRoom
      @WindmillCurtainRoom  ปีที่แล้ว

      No, it's double sided fusible buckram. Many people use the single sided which is just fine. I just prefer the double sided.

    Hi , good video ! Please can you tell me how do I prevent interlining from fraying and wrinkling between the main cloth and lining ?

    • @WindmillCurtainRoom
      @WindmillCurtainRoom  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi there 👋.... The interlining should be locked into both the main cloth and the lining by way of tiny locking stitches. You see me doing that process from 17 minutes into the video. The stitches should be tiny but secure and not tight so that they don't pull and show on the front. After turning the side and bottom hems the interlining is also held in place by herringbone stitches before the lining goes on. The other advice I would give is to ensure that the tensions of all the fabric's are the same. Don't allow the interlining to be baggy when you lay it up otherwise it will sag and pucker inside when you hang them. It's all about the strong structure inside. I hope this helps👍

      @@WindmillCurtainRoom should the lining also be stitched with the interning by locking stitches ?

    • @WindmillCurtainRoom
      @WindmillCurtainRoom  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes, the interlining should be locked into both the main cloth and the lining so that it cannot bag and billow out.

    how wide apart do you do your stabilising rows between the curtain and interlining?

    • @WindmillCurtainRoom
      @WindmillCurtainRoom  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      As standard it's every half a width although I sometimes do them closer together, like every third of a width, if it's a more unstable fabric 👍

    What are you stuffing the cartridges with?

    • @WindmillCurtainRoom
      @WindmillCurtainRoom  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's cotton domette interlining pieces rolled up. Any interlining is fine and I also use polyester wadding occasionally.

      I wish I could chatter my way through all my videos giving verbal instruction 😂... but the fact is that's it's so time consuming to do tutorial videos and when I have a paid job on the table and a customer waiting it's just not practical I'm afraid.
