Thank you. Of the decades of sewing I've done I finally learned how important managing the fabric under the needle is. But this was a well explained technique. Thank you so much.
This makes sense and here I was going to go buy a bunch of glue and adhesive and more pins and iron and measure some more! Pattern matching is a challenge when pieces are bed sized!
So great !! Now show me how to cut panels , to join, with a drop match!! lol Ugggg !!! It has a 49" repeat, so I don't know after you cut your first panel and I am making 1 and 1/2 width fullness, do I match one edge and cut it in half, what about the other side? I guess you just have to waste a lot of fabric, save it for pillows! :)
Lol... it can be very daunting if you've never done it before but it's much simpler than it first appears. If the drop you need to cut is longer than one repeat but shorter than 2, then you need to cut 3 pieces each at 2 repeats long (you can cut the last piece exactly to your cut length rather than a full 2 repeats if you're short on fabric but we won't overcomplicate things!), then cut one of those pieces in half lengthways. Finally, match the selvedge edges of a full with and a half width to form a pair each with 1.5 widths in each 👍
@@WindmillCurtainRoom Yes !! Very helpful!!! I am cutting, cutting cutting!! I have passed the hurdle, it is beautiful fabric I will send pictures when it is finished!! You are so helpful, it is hard when you don't have friends to talk about repeats, linings, etc, but here you are! Thank you !!

It does take some practice but it's so worth mastering as it really speeds up the process. 🚀
Absolutely perfect 👌😉
Thank you so much 😊
This is so impressive! Thank you for sharing. Do you use this 'no-pins' method for pattern matching velvets too?
Sometimes when the velvet is particularly tricky I'll use a few pins but mostly, yes, I use the same method.
