Petrol station businesses in South Africa pumping 500 000L a month or more with convenience store sales (turnover not profit ) of R1,5M pm are considered top 10% sites and is making 4-5M profit a year.
When these businesses do become available, the price to earnings multiple of 3-4 you effectively pay the owner 3-4years net profit. In my example above R15M-R20M.
These are some real facts, let’s not mislead people in videos, it’s a great industry and employs thousands of people in South Africa, for the amount of work required the dealers aren’t fairly compensated for it. The oil companies and government taxes make up 85% of the cost per litre in fuel.
Thanks alot for this information
This is informative, I will use the information for sure. Thank you
Lekker I like it thank you!.
Bafo, it's not "Plug n Play". Turnover is not profit. Turnover less operating\capital and taxes expenses = profit. And then there are monthly franchise costs you still need to pay. Question is, does the Turnover cover all those expenses? My guess is, you wont even break even if you buy that Sasol.
Based on you analysis how long will it take to break even or make the return of investment?
@@teddyoriclips3686 Here is basic facts you need to establish. Find out on average how many litres a month of fuels these petrol stations sell. Find out the average margin or profit percentage per litre. It seems to be around 15% but you have to establish if that is after all other costs like labor, rent, fees etc. Assuming you can make 10% profit on 350,000 so your profit would be 35,000 a month based on this guys numbers (assumption). Now figuring out your break even is easy Math.
If you make 35,000 a month, you annualize that you get 420,000 a year. So to get back your investment it would take you of 5,5 million it would take you about 13 years. If you factor in annual sales growth, price increases etc probably close to 10 years. That is only based on fue sales. The other things sold in a petrol station have higher profit margins which will further reduce the time to recover initial investment. At a minimum it will probably be close to 7 or so years. If you have those facts guys like me can model for you exactly how long it would take to break even and or become profitable for a reasonable fee off course hahaha
that engine garage is my stop when I am traveling to Port Elizabeth
This video is productive it actually gave me what I needed thank you
hi are you starting a fuel station
Thanks for sharing this info. So.e years ago Sasol required R1.1 mil.
There's a new one that is budget friendly for buyers... For R1.6m you can buy a franchise and start making money... PEU ENERGIES, and plus it's affiliated with Sasol I think, from what I heard... They are targeting the rurals area... It's growing big in Limpopo and I personally want to but it...
