Yes, makes me think twice about the CDT alone as a female. In addition to contacting police, the CDT trail association should also be contacted. This is not good for CDT’s reputation.
What a section!! I’m so happy to hear you made it through safely. I sure hope you made contact with the Sheriff…I hate that you had a bad encounter in my neck of the woods. You are an inspiration!!
Glad you confronted this guy, even though you had to move. You didn't serve for these kinds of people to get a voice, none of us did. I'm hiking the CDT next year and won't put up with that kind of stuff for a single second either. Keep pushing bro.
I add my condolences to the others regarding your interaction with the crazy dude. Your videos continue to amaze (I've been watching since the beginning). Your eye for beauty amazes me (I'm eagerly anticipating the coffee table book). Even after thousands of miles you haven't habituated to the beauty around you, even when it's a "gnarly" day. The end is in sight!
Brutal but Beautiful, WOW!! That road into to Creede was a gorgeous treat with the sun shining. As someone previously said, really glad you were together to get through that, especially that interaction with the unstable guy with the tent 😮 geez! Interested to hear what law enforcement said when you told them.
You had me worried on this one. Mildly so when crossing the logs, and I thought I was really concerned with you getting your feet wet. But that was nothing! That was so scary. I agree with needing protection. Keep safe ❤
Sorry to hear about your bad person encounter. You are amazing and inspiring. We've been watching since the early AT. Can't wait for each update to this epic adventure!
Protect your water bottles with socks pulled over them. That crossing was dangerous. What would you do if you fell in and got soaked? Many years ago when we built fires every night, we warmed up(not too hot) fist sized rocks and put them in our shoes to help them dry over night. It worked for socks too. You made the right choice getting away from the idiot. Another good video. Happy Trails. Good Luck, Rick
Man oh man what brutal going.....you and Walkie Talkie are two tough tough hikers.....just amazed and then to cap it off you run into the crazy camper who proceeds to bully you.....just incredible ....huge thank you.
Geez...i was nervous seeing the big cat tracks, but after your story about the weird guy....maybe wild animals are safer!! Incredible beauty there in the snow. Glad you were there with Walkie Talkie and neither of you had to deal with that guy alone! Thanks for sharing all your experiences!
I don't know how many times i clenched my buttcheeks watching you two walking this stretch of the trail but oohh man i had my exercise for this week lol glad you were two people encountering this strange guy, that sounded scary and creepy! Hope you both found a room to relax after this section!!
I've hiked SOBO on the CT through this section (well the entire trail too). That's a really rough section indeed even in the summer time. I actually ran out of water near Razor creek. Looks like you had a different water problem. Stay mindful of frostbite! Be safe and happy trails.
The people are getting whipped up. Well, apparently some are. I am glad that you shared the story about the encounter you had. My brother and I were out scouting around and ran into some guys who tried to threaten us. We had been in a spot first, but they tried to claim it was their’s. We could have made it into a challenge, but, like you, just decided to bug out and move on. Safer. Glad you were considering contacting the authorities. Hope it gets a bit milder for you. And also kudos for hiking with walkie-talkie. Solo is good, but in certain circumstances, a companion helps with the rattling brain noise. Peace. 🌲💚
Just bailed on the PNT after getting dumped on by two feet of snow in the Pasayten. Glad to see it isn’t just me a who gets pleasure from the brutality. My goal is to do the CYTC in the coming years. Thanks for the inspiration to keep doing the thing!
What a traverse through the snow on such a precarious trail! Also, that squirrel was like "you made me drop my nut and I'm too scared to go get it!". Sucks to hear about that squatter threatening you... hope they were dealt with. Protecting yourself is always a good choice.
Thank you THG 👊 Appreciate you my brother 🙏 so good to hear from you, good to hear you & Walkie Talkie are ok after running into that weirdo 😳😖 hope you're doing well, stay safe and take care my friend 👊 👍If you do have anything orange colored, keep it visible with hunting season going on ✌️
I notice most people seem to wear their Alpha hoodies over everything. I find it's way warmer wearing it as a baselayer, it wicks better, and I'm way less worried about it snagging on something.
So glad you and Walkie Talkie found each other, safety in numbers. Sorry about the yahoo you encountered, hope he is rousted from "his" spot so others do not have to endanger their lives by being forced away from sheltering. Sucks, big time. Enjoying your hike!
Wow so inspirational you made it through! I’m thinking of doing a CYTC so I’m watching your every move :). How did those waterproof socks hold up? What brand are they?
Wish there were dates posted on when you got hit with these storms. Dates would be helpful. I definitely prefer the dirt on trails like this- don’t think I’d ever even remotely attempt a CYTC.
I love Monarch mountain, though normally just go there to board. This is am awesome trek. It's crazy to see how far this channel has come. As far as the weirdo... that's not unheard of in this state. I got a gun pulled on me in BLM land once. People get really paranoid and weird and tweaky and territorial.
The video was stunning. Sorry it was marred by you’re close encounter with that moron. Walkie-talkie seems like a Delightful gal. In that kind of weather it’s great that you have a partner to hike with. Blessings on the rest of your hike
What amazing views! You have mad skills to do that, very impressive! I’m sad that you ran into that weirdo. He was probably up to something illegal and used aggression to get you to move away from him. May he be the last idiot you meet. Best wishes for safe travels! Hike on!
Watching this episode was really stressfull, and not very enjoyable honestly. That was a really unsafe and dangerous hike. Wearing essentially sneakers and without the proper gear. I have no idea what Walkie Talkie would have done if you hadn't been there, though it wasn't safe for either of you to be there in those conditions. That white guy you ran into is really scary. I'm really sorry that happened. There too many people like this in the West unfortunately. It's unfortunate that you feel the need to carry a gun or bear spray while hiking the CDT in ultralight gear. I hope the rest of the trip is not so difficult. But, it doesn't seem like completing the CYTC is really worth this much dangerous hiking.
Doing good. Sounds to me like the guy was scared of you and I can see his view point by being bedded down in the middle of no where and people coming up on you in the night...not that its an excuse for his behavior but just my take on it. If you never saw his dogs he may not have had one or they may have licked you to death if they did see you. I just think it was that guys way of trying to protect himself. Again not an excuse and it really does take pleasure away from the trip when you encounter people like that in life. I hope you did make the authorities aware of him and his "vicious" dog/s. How much time do you thing is left of your journey? What's the first thing you are looking forward to doing once you are done?
I never leave my house without my pistol. That fk’r would know! This day and time people are sketchy AF, I would rather be judged by 12 than carried by 6
I can't imagine how that lunatic would have treated Walkie Talkie if she encountered him alone. Glad you were there to back each other up.
Yes! 🙏🏼💜
Yes, makes me think twice about the CDT alone as a female. In addition to contacting police, the CDT trail association should also be contacted. This is not good for CDT’s reputation.
Exactly what I was thinking.😳
I’m glad you were with walkie talkie. Crazies are everywhere. Glad you’re safe!
I can't believe you made it across that log without getting wet. Job well done!
What a section!! I’m so happy to hear you made it through safely. I sure hope you made contact with the Sheriff…I hate that you had a bad encounter in my neck of the woods. You are an inspiration!!
snow makes for some awesome views!!!!

The fact that Walkie Talkie was keeping up with you is pretty incredible. She's a badass.

Talk about no guts no glory! That was the best thru-hike clip I've ever seen! I'm so sorry you and Walkie talky had to deal with such an A-hole.
Beautiful footage. Your so awesome. Thanks so much for sharing. Stay safe
Hi HG 👋🏻! All I can say is….You CRAZY Boy!! 🤪😜…Keep on truckin on!!!
Such beautiful views! Just amazing! Glad I can see them without walking through hip deep snow in single digits. Thank you.
Can't wait for your next vlog!!
What an inspiration you are.
Hot Rod and Peaches here keep killing it. We are rooting for ya🤩
Another great video, beautiful scenery. Stay safe and watch out for those weirdo’s.
I guess you meet all kinds of people, I’m glad you both are safe!
Man oh man what brutal going.....you and Walkie Talkie are two tough tough hikers.....just amazed and then to cap it off you run into the crazy camper who proceeds to bully you.....just incredible ....huge thank you.
Cabin with wood stove plus wood, no brainer.

Saw this after my post. Didn't think he would hit another weirdo. Well, stuff happens but hopefully no more on this hike.
No kidding! Hopefully good vibes from here on out!
Yes! I would think wild animals are safer than crazed humans
Glad to see you are still going! Kicking ass
Great entertaining update and yes you got this!
Glad you and Walkie Talkie partnered up to break trail through this section.
Good attitude!

The Salida storm was end of Oct, like Oct 25th
Gosh, you were hitting that late (for reasons understood) ! Thanks for getting back to me!
lucked out that it didn't snow much any earlier.
"Embrace the Brutality"
Quick question, Some view of the film like in 22:23 was taken by some other people or tripod auto-film?
I find rocks and such to just put my camera down on

What was that sleeping “bag” u added for extra warmth?
Did u switch to a different sleeping bag
Added a nunatak overbag to the 15 degree katabatic bag
@@QuadzillaHikes awesome it’s been fun following along 🤘
Geez! Sorry about that crazy guy you happened upon. I’m thinking he’s doing something illegal up there and wants people to stay out.
Great effort on both your parts. So sorry about the funky interaction with the idiot.
wow what a weird unfortunate encounter with humans . that trekking in snow is tiring. beautiful though
What amazing views! You have mad skills to do that, very impressive!

Your audio is very good… what r u using to video?
Have a rode mic attached to the camera
@@QuadzillaHikes thx for yr time replying… it definitely explains the quality of the audio…. Have a great time in southern NM…
Are you out of hard copy books?
I am, and currently in Asia so can't ship anything
You are nuts! You are taking unnecessary risk hiking in these weather conditions...
Are your feet staying dry with the snow? Did you have to change your footwear?
I'm wearing waterproof socks so that keeps em warm

If always bring my pistol if I can, nobody can help you out there if someone decides to get violent
Hunters are definitely different than through hikers. Then you got the whole anti Asian thing. It can be a scary world out there. Be safe.
