I wrote this song to my grandfather after he was diagnosed with cancer. It is my way of saying that I'll always be there for him. In this video I perform the song for the first time in front of my aunt, her boyfriend and my girlfriend.

I just lost my brother to COVID phnoemia November 11, 2021. He was taken off of life support at 9:00am passed away at 11:07am. He is my first sibling to pass and I am lost. Time comes for us all to take our final rest, I wasn't ready for him to go, and no one wants to say goodbye, but I say see ya later. I lost my husband a couple of years ago to a lingering illness and this is my anthem - I was not then, nor would I be now, ready to let him go. We had so many bittersweet moments and this song embodies them all. So tender and sweetly sung. The lyrics are poignant and moving, and the melody is haunting and beautiful. I lost my grandmother 4 almost going on five years now and the funny thing is I found this song days later everytime I hear this song or listen to it it reminds me of her and everything that I have had to battle with and still fighting with till this day with loseing her she was my best friend my Rock when I needed the guidance I couldn't find fly high nana we all miss u and hope ur tearing it up in those golden streets

Hate that this song isn't bigger. My dog and I cried our eyes out to this song. Our final goodbye to my ex and her son. Was that boys dad pretty much the first 5 years of his life. We sat in the back seat of the truck, and my boy broke me man. He kept looking out the back window with tears in his eyes, he knew our world was about to change forever. He had no clue how bad it would be, spent the next 2 years homeless living in a tent, recovering from open heart surgery in the middle of the desert cause my "friend" lied to me and didn't tell me the truth till we where already 18 hrs into the drive with 3 hrs remaining. Still not ready to let go it's been 4 years.
This song keeps me fighting for life every single day that the Lord blesses me with.

My father was diagnosed with cancer in 2015. I took care of him every day until he died in 2018, we became best friends. I was destroyed when he died. I felt like I had disappeared with him. Boy did this song strike a cord. You really know how to make a grown man cry like a little girl...

Wow I am speechless and so choked by the emotions that came through. I can imagine the pain that loved ones feel when hearing this song at a funeral. For a man it all I can do to just make it through the performance without tearing up, as I was not ready when others, I have cared for, passed.

Chris you have many great songs, but this one brought tears to my eyes. You know your mom is moving on to be with my dad on those golden plains, one thinks : "ok I am ready to let her go", you are by her beside holding onto her hand and she leaves... you are sooo right you are never ready. This is a beautiful and very sad song but so very true. Very well written. What makes you special as an artist is the emotions that you pass on to us, it is heartfelt. This particular tune, "I'm not ready" holds special meaning to me, due to the fact that three members of my immediate family died from CANCER. My mom, dad, and older brother, ALL were struck by cancer, and all three died from it. If I discover that there was a cure, all this time, but it's been hidden from the public by "Big Pharma" .. I'm gonna be really PISSED OFF !!! However .. that's another subject for another time. You just keep doing what you're doing my brother. Writing songs and playing them for us .. the music loving public.

I recently lost my Father, due to dementia. You remind me a lot of my Father. The beard, the hair & the fact that he had a beautiful tenor voice. He looked like a lion, but he sang like an angel. (When he was well) Just read, that you wrote this for your grandfather & when I heard the lyrics, tears just started falling down my face. What a beautiful, brutally sincere & honestly heartbreaking song.

I've dealt with suicidal ideation more than once. I love my family and my life but I also understand it's not hard to get into the wrong frame of mind and do something you instantly regret when you have a mental illness. But I'm still here and still fighting the good fight. As I beleive I'm one of the lucky ones to have so much support around me now after all these years of ups and downs and being on different meds. I'm stable now and have a little girl who is nearly 12. She asked me who that is that's been playing on repeat all around the house, the car and anywhere else I can't think of atm. I was happy to tell her the name is Chris Klafford 😍 and she loves your music as much as me. Just wanted to say thank you as I know the road is not easy but with a voice like yours around it makes life that much sweeter and more enjoyable. I beleive had I have given up years ago when I was struggling to cope with life. Then I wouldn't be here now writing this to you. I also thought I would add this stuff is never easy to write but as others have mentioned it's just easier to open up on here and I wanted chris to know how I felt. Emotional stuff but instead of fighting it I'm letting the tears flow. Happy tears though. It's just with all this stuff Sometimes it's hard to muscle that up and just talk. Helps clear the mind and get it off the chest instead of bottling up all the pain I've felt. Which my brother usually does. He also has schizophrenia and struggles with life. And my oldest brother passed away when he was 11 😔 I miss him dearly.. My aunty also passed away from cancer years ago(mother's sister) which as use can imagine wasn't easy to deal with either.. But I've learned with life you learn to adjust and adapt to change and also doing the best you can with what you have
i came back to this song from Chris today and sometimes i read comments written by people and came upon yours. We are strangers and the only thing we have in common is Chris' music, but all this to say; i am glad you were strong to make it back from a dark space. especially if you have a youngster,. i am certain she would be devastated if you would not be around. Förlorade min svärfar idag på morgonen klockan 05:47.Han gick på cellgifter och råkade dra på sig en lung inflammation som utvecklades till en aggressiv blodförgiftning. Har under 10 år haft han som förebild i livet och idag kändes det som en del av mig dog. Denna låt är så grymt stark och kommernspelas flitigt under ett tag framöver.
