I was there on Saturday the 17th of May in the Royal Opera House , this Ballet is still haunting me - absolutely breathtakingly beautiful - the shapes , the colours the music ...
Christopher Wheeldon is the greatest living choreographer and this is his greatest work. Need I say more? Don't look at bits and pieces, like any work of art, it all goes together and grows and grows in meaning when you see it as a whole. A beautiful BluRay of the entire piece is available for a song.
Timothy K I don’t think there’s anything wrong with her body she’s a beautiful woman ???? But yeah I agree these shoes are BADLY fit it ruined the entire dance for me because it’s all I could see
@@amydicristoforo1414 It's not to do with the shoe, it's to do with her choice of wearing fake insteps.... A poor choice, imo. Sarah's one of my favorite dancers but her use of fake insteps has always bothered me.
I watched the same program danced by Fumi Kaneko and Male principal (can't remember who it was as it was so boring) and it doesn't seem like the same dance. Sarah and Alexander are great here and Wheelden choreo was ok after all even though I still don't appreciate modern ballet as much. Even the costume for female was different here which is so much more appealing than what Fumi was wearing. Similar but wrong fabric and too long and no movements in it.
Well-danced, especially my Ms. Lamb, but the choreography is derivative, sentimental, cliched, and as saccharine as overly sugary cotton candy. He's an over-rated choreographer that parrots the over-wrought tastes of the ballet establishment. Sappy, sugary sweet.

I love Wheeldon’s choreography. He gives equal importance to the arms-the speed they twirl, the positions-so that the lines look even longer.

So happy to see a video of both Sarah and Alexander dancing, and happier to see them dancing together.
I'm sure he's amazing but I couldn't take my eyes off of her. She is exquisite. I would LOVE to see her very of the dying swan.
Years and years of determination, hard work and effort go into making something as beautiful as this look so effortless.
