I'm completely and thoroughly impressed with both of you! Good luck with your Carnegie Hall debut tonight, Avery! (PS - I was Avery's first piano teacher. So proud of you, Avery!)

She deserved to be top 5 in the Chopin Competition. Absolutely fantastic pianist.

I agrée! The winner is very talented, don’t get me wrong! But I believe her expression and musicality tops his. I was so confused that he was the winner. But am still happy for him. I hope Avery enters again next time!

Beautiful interview. Avery is an extraordinary musician, she has a first-rate intelligence - not just musical - and a great talent, and I would like to hear her here in Italy. I’ve been following her since the Van Cliburn Junior Competition, and I think she's making a great career, which she well deserves. I wish to renew my most sincere congratulations and my greatest wish for the continuation of her already bright musical adventure. All the best! Rossano Pinelli, Italian composer

Joyfulness, happiness, what else drives the spirit of a musician? And yes, we cannot keep the moment in music, it is beauty created within the flow of time, it passes, and it only will stay as a memory, but it can be such a powerful memory that it pervades all life. This is an enjoyable interview with a professional and smiling pianist for of all lovers of good music. Thank you.)))

I was so disappointed she didn’t get all the way to the end, I started to question the judging. Her playing was one of the treats of the competition, the Andante Spinato was a revelation. I wish her all the best for the future.

I have the same sentiments. Probably the reason the Best Polonaise wasn't awarded this year is because she's one of the best contenders for it. Her Andante spianato and grande polonaise was absolutely stellar. I keep replaying it all over again.

Ever since the all mighty algorithm revealed this channel to me, I’ve been struck at the level of discursive insight... in each installment.
All the magic of high level musicking as well as the insights that usually take place in different spaces, from conservatory hallways and classrooms, to master classes, to peeks into the meaningful exchanges that we know virtuosos have among themselves, are all suddenly conjured into these videos that patently show the power of this new platform...
    Huge grateful fan.

Thanks so much for a wonderful interview! The detailed breakdown into chapters and the links are also greatly appreciated. I also am a big fan of Avery’s - what a treat to listen and watch her online from Warsaw! Thank you! One request to Avery: please put your songs and compositions together and release a CD album as well - would love to hear them.

She IS indeed. Not only she gave Avery the right music to fit her age and personality, she also gave her pieces to work on specific techniques according to the level of her physical development so as to avoid any injuries. She did everything to protect her childhood. An amazing teacher and human being.

Great interview and insight of her musical skills. I've been a fan since she participated in the Cliburn Junior. Reading Conrad Walenrod could provide her a good story line to the 1st ballade with Conrad and his lute (main theme) and beautiful Aldona (female theme in E flat major, A major and E flat major again) from the top of the guard tower telling Conrad to go to war and regain Poland's territory to the Germans, Lituanian and Prussians. Conrad was so depressed that he only wanted to do baquets with the army and Aldona was the female voice that puted him in his place and go to war... Unfortunatly he committed suicede after losing the last battle (in the coda of the ballade)... You can actually relate the final part of the poeme whith the last page of the ballade... Is just a thought... It helped me to practice it with an extra motivation, but slow practice helped more... In the coda it helps to be seated high with the elbows above the black keys line, specially with small hands...

Very nice interview with Avery. This goes deep into the nerdy stuff, but still shows examples and even the music to help those that don't know it as well.

You need more contrast in your physique. So you've tried the chubby fatness look. Now go for the fit slim athletic look. Contrast and trust me it'll add a few million dollars in your bank account if you want put the power in your mouth instead of your fingers.
