This is one of my goals. To plant and harvest my own fruits and vegetables. I will definitely do it once I have my own land. Thank you for being an inspiration.
Ping Tung Eggplant - try microwaving one for about 3 minutes (poke a one or two so it will not explode). It should be soft that you can mash with a fork (leave the top part on so it is easy to handle when frying). Beat an egg, add salt and pepper then dip the mash eggplant and fry both sides in butter. Add parmesian cheese once done. Enjoy.
Very balanced system! High diversity of plants will lower the disease pressure especially from fungal pathogens. Love your videos! - MU Plant Diagnostic Clinic.
That's beautiful you are in permaculture now , and the joy of harvesting your own food from back garden is not easy to explain . I didn't know it's Japanese cucumber , but have eaten the similar but longer version in my childhood....
I like that you told us which Zone # instead of a city. Only just now made me realize it doesn't really matter which state or city, and zone is actually more important for this purpose.
Your videos brighten my day! Thanks fir the tip on letting the bugs roll as long as they aren’t harming the harvest. Your cucumbers are amazing - mine are growing only about waist-high and I’m in the county just north of you. Not sure why. Can’t wait for your next “How does it grow” episode, as well as some more bread baking videos someday.
So glad you've been enjoying the variety of content! A new HDIG is coming this month! I've heard of a lot of people having cucumber problems in the area. You're not alone. I've noticed a good deal more Mexican bean beetle larvae on the leaves this year than before - they look like small spiky orange caterpillars.
I love shelly beans. I grow Scarlett runners because the hummingbirds love the flowers... And I love the monster shellies that r purple and black. They freeze or can well. They r wonderful in lots of different dishes . Thank you for sharing your beautiful garden with us.
Last season you "sold" me to try the"Brad's Atomic grape" and it's the most popular tomatoe I raised of 12 type and Number 2 is my favorite and some of the friends who tried is the terracotta , So much moisture adding to a brarkworth or a steak burger like a double Mano but such a change of flavor compared to the old beef steak tomatoes , Yeah I think they are my favorite tomato, Also we just happened to order the ISIS Candy so I am not copying your whole garden but I agree with what you are saying about the tomatoes. Might try egg plants if I keep watching TV Garden channel Thank you for the teaching Lady
Wish you sujusted cucumbers late fall for I plan earlier and have my orders done but highly respect your choices of tomatoes so will review this next fall. Thornbury Terracotta is the only tomato I eat whole and as delicious as you told me I believe 2 season ago and yours favorite for taste. Your advice is spot on! My neighbors from South America love it for most of her dishes. Black Brandywine is my favorite on beef burgers and bacon sandwiches. 🥓 I'm bragging on Thornbury Terracotta and got Gardener Scott testing them and "Sanders and Boots" also testing " Prairie Plant girl " also tested it and reported it's on top of her keeper list and repeating it next season. Give you credit for showing Thornbury Terracotta first as far as I know. Thanks 👍
Thanks for the video. Beautiful garden. Love your other videos “How it grows”. Was just eating my garden food for dinner. Beans, zucchini tomatoes with pesto and smoked tofu.
i love deep frying eggplant. sliced it up thinly and coat them with beaten eggs and then spiced flour and deep fried it. its lovely to eat by its own with sauce or as a side dish for rice or noodles. red amaranth is rich in iron and can be stir fried with garlic and sweet onion and making soup.
@@TrueFoodTV Hands down-the Japanese cuc. Love that I don't need to peel it and it is SO yummville! You? Your garden is EPIC, btw. Very inspirational; thanks again for sharing it with us!
Some birds will peck for water (rumor has it) so having a birdbath might help. I grow the same Japanese cucumbers and they are prolific. I gave a couple of bags away today and tons more are coming. Thanks for the tour, your garden always looks so tidy and organized.
8:46 yes we do saute them! Here, in Indonesia, we often call it 'Bayam batik' or Batik Spinach in English. Batik is our traditional clothes/pattern, this spinach has this particular name due to its bicolor pattern. And they indeed delicious and nutritious!
I'm growing, I think it's the way she handles those cucumbers, with care that makes for better growing. 🤕 My girlfriend doesn't understand my appreciation, she loved the Amalfi episode though as she is from there, I have 5 year old Amalfi lemon trees at home here in the UK but this winter I will be giving them supplementary lighting to help them along as they have slowed down being in the house over the cold months
No, I only grow heirloom, non-GMO varieties in my garden. The white eggplant came from Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds. White is actually an historical color for eggplant - it's what helped inspire the name *egg*plant! ;)
I remember, (when I was very young) being told that we should prune our daffodils after flowering. Years later someone corrected me and said, "If you leave them they will naturally extract the nutrients from their leaves and you will have a stronger [product]" I wonder if that is the same with the cucumber leaves?
One comment, beautiful Nicole, I've always heard don't throw any cuttings, scraps, wormy veggies on the ground because it can encourage pest and disease. Compost those. Lovely garden, peace!
I bought cucumbers probably called Natu Fushinari. But I know few recipes in spite of living Japan. Would you pick up more than any other recipe? I'm looking forward to act out ones.
As Indonesian, I'm blown away that you ate those spinach raw, since we never ate it raw here, 😳😳 Even in our traditional salads (gado-gado, gudangan, pecel, or anything else) we usually, or always, poach it first. 😂
Lemon boy heirloom cherry plum and some other ones beef stake I have so much I have to give them away no time to make sause the cherry I freeze dem and use dem
Free Recipe - Egg plants boiled with cumin powder.....drain all the water ...... turn to paste ..... salt as a preservative ..... refrigerate ..... serve with bread, buns ......... 1 Lt jar very good........
The cucumbers mostly climbed on their own. I just directed a few tendrils that pushed through the fencing and wanted to reach across the inside of the arch.
Another Awesome vid! It's amazing how much u look like Alyssa Milano! I'm guessing this isn't the first time you've heard this eh! Of course your quite a bit younger but its almost uncanny the resemblance. Luv all your informative vids, keep em coming! Cheers from Canada!😁🇨🇦🌶

We've nearly finished editing the next one. Hang on -- it's coming at you so soon, and will blow your mind about the way this fruit is farmed!

Amazing cucumbers, thanks for sharing!
Great video-Amazing garden-I am jealous of the variety you have VS what I buy from the store.
It's sad how few varieties are in our grocery stores, right? It is certainly one of the treats of growing a garden.
Awesome content. Looking forward to more frequent uploads Miss Nicole
Look out for weekly content... starting NOW! ;)
I love the smell of tomato plants! Mine have not ripped yet, we plant them to late in the year because we had cold weather until May
I really think there is nothing that smells better than tomato’s - they should bottle the smell and sell it as an air freshener 😀
I second that! One of my favorite scents in the world!
Oh wow! I am also growing that very same Japanese cucumber as well as the same Marketmore cuc in my garden. Thanx for this vid!
