  • Setting up camp can seem intimidating if you're a new RVer-especially when you first get to the campground and it feels like everyone is watching you! (Don't worry, they're not 🙂)
    In this video, we'll cover all the basics so that when you arrive at your campsite, you can set up stress-free! We'll teach you how to:
    1) Level your RV
    2) Unhitch your trailer safely
    3) Connect to electrical service
    4) Hook up your fresh water
    5) Connect to sewer
    6) Properly manage your grey and black water-this one surprises a lot of newbies
    ✅ When it comes time to break camp, make sure you've watched our Tear Down Checklist here: • Proven Tear Down Check...
    ⛺️ Love camping? Check out three of our favorite FREE camping spots on our website bit.ly/3xtQrxZ
    Most importantly, remember that camping is supposed to be FUN and there's no rush to get set up. Just take your time, develop a process that works for you, and feel free to ask other campers for help.
    A few details we forgot to highlight in the video:
    • Confirm that your campsite's water and electrical connections work BEFORE setting everything up. Moving sites is no fun after you've just completed the perfect setup.
    • Ensure that your awnings can extend without hitting anything. The same goes for your slides if you have any.
    • If you tow with a weight distribution hitch, make sure to release the tension in your weight distribution bars before you try to remove them. We do this by raising the tongue jack until all the trailer's weight is off the truck.
    👉 Here is a list of the essential RV accessories that we mentioned in the video, and also some others that make our life easier or safer:

    If you keep your grey tank open make a dip in your dump hose with the support thingies. This make a barrier to sewer gasses in the Campground connection.

    • @ThisWyldeLife
      @ThisWyldeLife  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great tip! Never thought of trying that. Sewer gasses can definitely be an issue, especially with exhaust fans turned on inside the trailer.

    Well done! I like to keep it simple and have the same as you guys, and I do have the surge protector because all it takes is one time and you are SOL plus I do have the sewer hose snake like thingy! Don't know how it is called.

      We agree, a surge protector is cheap insurance! We will be ordering one before our next hookup stay.

    Tip: Upgrade your power hook up to a “SmartPlug” and make sure you coat all connections including vehicle plug with Dielectric grease to reduce moisture and corrosion.

    Is it about the same setup if you have a composting toilet?

    • @ThisWyldeLife
      @ThisWyldeLife  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, you just won't have black tank waste flowing through the waste hose. Gray water (from shower and sinks) will still be dumped that way.

    Doesn’t your AS have a water pressure regulator built in?

    • @ThisWyldeLife
      @ThisWyldeLife  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It does, but we like to use a backup. The one in the trailer is not as robust and has been known to fail.
