@@TheCarlaProjectHa! They rarely listen to us. There’s a dog joint medicine/ vitamin at Walmart that changed our elderly dog’s LIFE.
We have all hardwood floors too and didn’t realize how much she was slipping etc.
It helped her very quickly- after taking it only 2 or 3 days! It’s one chewy a day and she really likes them. Fast cheap and easy. ❤

A LARGE rug will look so good and make it look so cozy. Framing the windows and baseboard in white or light cream color will also make it look fresh. If the trim was originally painted with oil based paint you can only paint over it with oil based paint. You picked a very nice color! The lighter color was the best choice. Great job!
The newer paints don’t have that problem of oil/oil. Today’s acrylic paint can go over oil paint.
The color-drenched look is very in right now.
@@squeakj3473 I know but if it’s a short-lived trend, and considering Carla doesn’t enjoy painting, it could look outdated before long. And I thought with color drenching you try to stick with a more monochromatic look and she mentioned going with a large rug in a blush color.

That color is so calming. So glad you are doing some self care with creating a space of rest and relaxation for you. Something you mentioned in a recent video about we tend to collect things for our home we are saving up to live in, it ends up cluttering up our home we live in now. It clicked with me. It is just like filling our closets and dressers with clothes that are too small or too big for us. We aren't able to have space for the things that fit us now. We aren't honoring our present. Just like our homes now. We need to treat our homes, our present with honor and respect. Clean them and decorate them as if they were our homes of our dreams now. Not to be morbid, but dealing with this cancer, life is not promised. Don't waste our time neglecting our spaces today for something we might not have tomorrow.
I agree, I tell my husband, we're "living with cancer", not "dying from cancer." Every minute deserves it's own appreciation.

Beautiful ❤ IF you go with curtains over the shade, I say a rattan shade with white billowy sheer curtains, hung at ceiling. Take the rod so when the curtains open, the entire window shows. I'd turn the desk to where I sit facing the window, with the mirror hung behind me. Then the trees and light will reflect in it.

Carla, I like the color that you went with for your bedroom. You were smart to have someone come and paint the room. Painting walls is not easy. White shears would look so nice on the windows. They are also feminine and soft looking.

I like the color and how it plays off of the pictures you have on the wall. I'm glad you hung something there and I love the artwork too. I do think I would paint the baseboard and the window frames in a white because it makes the overall room fresher feeling. Have you looked into those little rubber grippies that go on dogs toe nails for grip? We have a bunch of rugs around our house too for our dog. It looks terrible but this is just the season he's in and so we live with it and would do anything for him. Pets are the best !
i want to try those but he is so resistant to anyone even touching his feet! They sound great! But yes will do absolutely any and everything to make him comfy and cared for❤❤❤
I’ve always thought roman shades would work well on those windows! It’s very private with the trees in front, you wouldn’t have to close the shades, just having them for a warm touch. A rug is a must for Samson as he is getting older. Also, a cooling mat for dogs where his favorite sleeping spot is.

The wall color was a great choice! Very spa-like. When it comes to further ideas, pull in some living greenery with a couple pretty, low-maintenance houseplants since you have that gorgeous wall of green outside. If you like having your desk floating, then what you have make beautiful, airy sense. I love your nightstands, too. So your room has stone with the nightstands, wood with the desk and floors, air / light from the trees and the paint color. Perhaps a small burbling fountain on your desk to heighten the spa feel? Since your pupper does NOT seem like my cat - who couldn't let a fountain go without burying her nose in it. 😂

Hello Carla, if Samson ever needs more help getting up, my sisters 13 year old sheepdog wore a “help me up” harness all day. I would dog sit him and totally easy helping him stand up, he was a happy dog having help up. She also used floor runner mats on her marble tile and hardwood floors for him, they stayed in place and I hardly noticed them. He has since passed, but made his life very comfortable and he was still independent.

@@TheCarlaProject Please, keep some spare paint for touch-ups in the future, it comes in handy because it’s easy for some accident to affect the wall. I know you could buy some new paint later on but there could be a bit of colour variation between batches and then your touch up is more obvious than the thing you were trying to hide so you have to repaint the whole wall to get it even.

@thecarlaproject - My daughter just got some great blinds for her bedroom. I think they're called cellular or honeycomb or something like that. They are cordless, just lift up with a bar on the bottom and they're black-out shades. The best part is that they come down from the top or lift up from the bottom. I think they would be great in your room too. You can bring them down from the top a bit just to let light in but still have privacy. Of course they also lift all the way up to expose the whole window. I think Jackie got them at Lowes, even if not, I'm sure they carry them.

Carla! It’s fabulous. You do need an 8x10 rug but don’t get a shaggy type rug. They are so hard to vacuum and collect fur and dust. ❤

I love these videos! I feel like one thing that would relay help tie in that desk corner is if you found a cute vintage wood desk with some drawers to use in the corner. It feels like it needs something a bit more substantial and to match the vibe of your headboard. Right now it feels more IKEA next to that gorgeous bed.

Hey Carla, loving this series! Your room is looking better and better, all that work paying off. My tip for transforming my room is to get a duvet cover. With the bed normally being the biggest item in a room, a duvet cover can really change the space. Maybe something blue to match your new walls. I love a blue and white floral duvets. Anyway just an idea! xx

I think you were doing a fine job but help is always awesome too! Looks AMAZING! Paint is the easiest DIY and the biggest bang for the buck, ever. I LOVE painting rooms! In my old house (I've since moved), I painted almost every.single.room, including the bathrooms, myself. It was a 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom house with a separate dining room. I think it was only one room that was left with white walls. Dining room was bright blue, living room was a gorgeous latte-leaning-taupe color, bathroom was an awesome green and textured, like a plaster, antique finish, my bedroom was a very very light blue. Kitchen was sunshine yellow. I LOVED it. Working on deciding on colors in this house now. My bedroom is the same light blue here, so serene. But all the other walls are plain white - blech! I need to paint!
The room is great. It feels clean and airy and spacious, like it will function well . Having a clear table to sit at/ do things at leadss to inspire.
Definitely inspiring to take on what can feel like bigger projects.

Love it! A couple of suggestions: switch the art and hang the horizontal one on the wall behind your desk. Nice backdrop for your calls. I also heard recently that art looks more expensive when hang without the glass or acrylic protection.

I think it's beautiful. When you did the first window panel, I said, "It looks better already!" The color will match with whatever you add to the room.
The wall color was a great choice. It brings out the red tones of the flooring and looks great with the tartan plaid of the closet. I like that wall hook that resembles a peacock.

Beautiful, Carla! And that look Samson gave you then laid down anyway! And FYI, rubbing alcohol is the best, cheapest, and easiest way to remove drips or spots of latex paint from any suface, like door handles, hooks, floors...
I love the color. It really freshened up the space. The only things I would have done differently are, caulking around the medallion, so there would be no gap between it and the ceiling, painting the medallion white, or to match the ceiling. And, painting the window and door trim white, or the ceiling color, and using reusable cloths to clean, instead of disposable, what looked like paper towels. Samson seems to love the refresh.

Blue is such a good color for the bedroom, I have it too and will probably keep it for ages(already have it for 8 years I think?!). A big rug would look so nice and will be so good for Samson 🥰 If it covers enough area you don't even have to bother anymore doing something with the floor.

I was thinking 🤔 I love the green 💚 from the outside of your window 🪟 maybe you could get that feeling inside by adding some type of light green in the curtains or carpet. Just an idea
A beautiful job! So serene and peaceful. As an aside, I really love the light fixture that is in your bedroom; I think it keeps the room light. The other fixture might not be in keeping with the light serene feeling that you are going for. Having said that, it is your bedroom and you should do what feels right to you.

The paint color looks so beautiful! I am surprised you want to swap out the shell light, I love that light! I think the new paint and the art piece on the wall and your upholstered headboard make the bedroom so calming. The last time I painted a room was my bathroom. I fell off the ladder and had to choose between FLINGING the paint I was holding and saving myself, versus holding onto the paint but falling over the edge of the tub and possibly death. I chose life, but basically got paint everywhere I didn't want it. I had to spend hours cleaning it off the tub, the toilet, the tiles... and that was the last time I painted a room. It's hiring painters for me from now on. :)
Everything is coming together and I think when you're finished it will be beautiful. I love the chandelier.
