You don‘t need Paragon Software. I used TransMac Trial and when burning the dmg to the USB Stick the program asked me if I want to enlarge the Volume. I checked the checkbox and it did exactly what you did in Paragon Software :-)
THANK YOU for the great tutorial. The file moving and renaming wasnt mentioned in any other tutorial and was a gamechanger. Everything else ended up crashing during installation progress
With the current version of TransMac resizing does not work for me. I've tried at least 3 USB sticks with different sizes. WIth enabled checkbox the stick was usless after (succesful) restoring of the image. But TransMac can't read anything on the stick. If I do not check the box, stick is readable... but of course to small. :(

HDD died on mid 2011 iMac, so disk utility wasn't an option. I tried multiple USBs, multiple OS(within compatibility), multiple programs, multiple YT videos, multiple times, and even with a "too up to date" apple laptop. @@monssef6072 Format your USB drive and try again. Check if your usb has any partitions. Delete all of them. Clean up the USB completely and then add the files from transmac. Click on "enlarge the volume" as you progress.

Hi @@tonyhl7147! Sorry to hear that. This works mainly on the old macs. In the video, I'm using a MacBook White mid 2009. If you have a relatively recent one, they are capable of reinstalling the Operating System from the internet. You just need to have it plugged to a router and follow their instructions for net setup.

Yes you did and really great help where apple support told me that my laptop is vintage product and not much help can be offered by them. Apple Official Service Center refused in the name of parts unavailable, even third party repairing shop also denied. What helped me is you and my will to make my mac working. I am a Windows guy and was stuck on a MAC restore. Followed the artical and it worked, as before I spent days on following different articals. For unknow reason TransMac extend does no to fix the issue and extending via Paragon works.

Thank you very much! It worked perfect for me for installing without internet Yosemite on my early 2009 iMac. I had a different error when trying to install normaly, and by the way I managed to enlarge the partition on my usb drive by checking the box on transmac, not needing Paragon. I tried the normal way, I tried to modify the date and time, and this and the installation cd were my only options, but because I had no cd I choosed this one.
I have been trying for a week with hope that I get thru with installing the operating system and finally your video was the key to my success thank you very much for for your video it was really helpful
cool tutorial... i am stuck at expanding the DiskImage size to cover entire flash size using paragon. Mine is not draggable as at 10:38. i am stuck here. help
I wish I can help you out on this but I have not had that issue. I would say try to first format the drive as FAT32 and then follow the process to see if it is able to recognize it.
Please check the comments section. Somebody mentioned this and I offered tips. I have never had this happened to me. Maybe close the apps, unplug the USB and plug again, then reopen the apps and see if it works.
hello i tried to follow the step by step guide, but at the time of using the paragon software, the same does not detect the pen drive as in the video, let me explain the pen drive is detected but without any partition as if it is empty, and me still gives it as MBR instead of GPT could you help me ? Hi Giuseppe! I've had some people mention that it happened to them too. I suggested some options. Check my replies to comments and you can try those options. Hopefully it helps you. I have not had that issue, so, it's hard for me to say.
Hi, when i restore disk image with mac OS it dont detect any mac system in Paragon it shows just clear disc and i tried to formate pendrive twice and reapeted it, it still doesnt show any system on pendrive in paragon :(
Hi @dodyslaw, by the time you get to using Paragon, you should have basically cloned the install image using TransMac. If you don't see anything, you are not copying things right with it. Please make sure that you follow the steps like I do in the video. Paragon should only expand the created partition to cover the entire disk. If you don't see the partition, something wrong happened with TransMac.
@@dodyslaw, the partition is created by TransMac. You need to get the image from the OSX installer. Then TransMac basically "clones" that image to the USB drive. Then you expand it with Paragon. If you don't see it with Paragon, something was not done right before.
Not sure what could be the issue. I don't have any other machine to test but it seems like newer machines have issues following this method and they set up better using the internet for the installation of the OS.

Not sure I understand what you mean. The Windows apps that I mentioned are in the description. The Disk Utility is part of the MacOS installer. You should have access to it immediately when you boot into the installer.

Thank God for you bc it worked. My mac disk was screwed up in an update and now I could go to utilities and erase my disk and download on it! I was trying all last night until I found this.
It's not working on my end. Once the Restore has complete it will not allow me to resize the partition, nor copy the DMG and chunklist file. It says not enough space. Paragon does nothing but show the partition as formatted, no editing capabilitiy. I wish it worked as well as yours.
Hi Travis, I've had several people in the comments mention this exact same thing. It has never happened to me. Maybe try to close the application, unplug the USB device, plug it in again, and then reopen the apps. It might be that something is not working appropriately. Other than that, only thing that comes to my mind is the USB drive being faulty. Please report, if successful for others to have as a reference.
Follow the steps from video regarding formatting the USB as Fat32. Then, follow this: From Windows, open a “Command Prompt with administrative permissions” window. Type the diskpart command and press Enter. Type the list disk command and press Enter to view a listing of drives connected to your computer. Type the select disk command followed the number assigned for the USB flash drive (e.g., select disk 4), and press Enter. Type the clean command and press Enter. Type the convert GPT command and press Enter. Type the create partition primary command and press Enter to complete the task. After this, then you are free to open TransMac. Sorry I am a year late.

Thanks, your video saved me when other videos on here did not. Following your instructions, my problem got a little more complicated and hopefully this will help someone else. Transmac would not let me copy those extra files to the USB drive, it threw an error message everytime. Fortunately I had another piece of software from failed utube videos trying to do the same as your video, 'HFS+ for Windows'. That has a Use in File Explorer option, that would let me copy the files across to add to the image already there. Next, on the Macbook air 2015 laptop it would not install from this fresh USB creation, error code 8. Certainly some corruption. I had to use Disk Utility from the top menu and run first aid on the sub partitions repetitively until the errors were gone before it would let me then erase the SSD completely. Then add a Macintosh HD partition back, then I could install from the USB drive! Finally now up and running.

I'm following every step, but when I get formatting the drive with the .dmg base system file, I got to paragon and the drive is unformatted and says nothing is on it. It reverts back to MBR everytime. I checked the settings on transmac. Still nothing. This makes no sense.
That is definitely weird. Are you sure you are selecting the right device? Also, is your USB device a "good brand?" Remember that there are a lot of fake Chinese USB devices without the advertised capacity and that can cause you issues. I would also recommend to disconnect the USB and close the apps, every time you are trying. Sometimes devices don't work well after multiple attempts with the apps open and the devices being automatically unmounted/mounted by Windows. Hope you can find the solution and post it here for others with the same issue.

So far it's installing well, thank you so much. 12/11/2024 you do not need PARAGON. In settings i clikced on only 2 check marks, and it asks you if you want to fill the USB drive up, just say yes and it works!!
Hello When I went through the process and selected OS X Base System in the boot menu, a loading bar along with the Apple logo showed up. The loading bar never finishes, what do I do?
Hard to say. It should finish loading and you should get the installer interface. You might have done something different from what I did in the guide.
@@techbytetips It might be the fact that El Capitan is the latest thing it supports and that it can't update to the last version of it which is distributed on Apple's website. That being said, I did try Yosemite but it did the same thing
Well@@whats2by2 , you should not be trying newers systems if you already know the latest it can use is El Capitan. My video was using El Capitan, so, you can install that one.

It shouldn't have. El Capitan is no longer getting maintained. When navigating through the .dmg using 7-zip make sure to follow the instructions exactly as I mentioned them. It doesn't work if you select open instead of open with * for example.

Hi@@CesarPerelli-j6w, I am not sure that I am understanding what you are saying. Even if you download from the App Store, it should be a package. Inside that package there are a lot of files. You are looking for the DMG that contains the actual OS. From that DMG is that you extract the files that you need. Can you provide details as to how you got the files and what you got?
Thank you for responding. When I download it from the App Store, it only comes as a .dmg file. It doesn't come as a package, so I don't see the options to extract all the files in 7-Zip. So basically, I can't open the files in 7-Zip to extract and follow your steps.@@techbytetips

Yes you did and really great help where apple support told me that my laptop is vintage product and not much help can be offered by them. Apple Official Service Center refused in the name of parts unavailable, even third party repairing shop also denied. What helped me is you and my will to make my mac working. Edit: I typed this before when I was still going through the first/middle steps (a lot of which were looked over by other youtubers) so I hadnt typed yet whether it worked or not i.e. I hadn't gotten to the point I got furthest in i.e.x2 the lack of visibility of a bootable drive (unbeknownst to my knowledge, very poorly formatted, that is until wathcing this video)

I am a Windows guy and was stuck on a MAC restore. Followed the artical and it worked, as before I spent days on following different articals. For unknow reason TransMac extend does no to fix the issue and extending via Paragon works.

It worked perfect for me for installing without internet Yosemite on my early 2009 iMac. I had a different error when trying to install normaly, and by the way I managed to enlarge the partition on my usb drive by checking the box on transmac, not needing Paragon. I tried the normal way, I tried to modify the date and time, and this and the installation cd were my only options, but because I had no cd I choosed this one.
I have been trying for a week with hope that I get thru with installing the operating system and finally your video was the key to my success thank you very much for for your video it was really helpful

i think you need another macos version. i first tried snow leopard which got me the forbidden icon but el capitan did end up working fine
cool tutorial... i am stuck at expanding the DiskImage size to cover entire flash size using paragon. Mine is not draggable as at 10:38. i am stuck here. help
I wish I can help you out on this but I have not had that issue. I would say try to first format the drive as FAT32 and then follow the process to see if it is able to recognize it.

Please check the comments section. Somebody mentioned this and I offered tips. I have never had this happened to me.
Maybe close the apps, unplug the USB and plug again, then reopen the apps and see if it works.

Hi, when i restore disk image with mac OS it dont detect any mac system in Paragon it shows just clear disc and i tried to formate pendrive twice and reapeted it, it still doesnt show any system on pendrive in paragon :(
Hi @dodyslaw, by the time you get to using Paragon, you should have basically cloned the install image using TransMac. If you don't see anything, you are not copying things right with it.
Please make sure that you follow the steps like I do in the video. Paragon should only expand the created partition to cover the entire disk. If you don't see the partition, something wrong happened with TransMac.

@@dodyslaw, the partition is created by TransMac. You need to get the image from the OSX installer. Then TransMac basically "clones" that image to the USB drive. Then you expand it with Paragon. If you don't see it with Paragon, something was not done right before.

Not sure what could be the issue. I don't have any other machine to test but it seems like newer machines have issues following this method and they set up better using the internet for the installation of the OS.

Not sure I understand what you mean. The Windows apps that I mentioned are in the description. The Disk Utility is part of the MacOS installer. You should have access to it immediately when you boot into the installer.

It's not working on my end. Once the Restore has complete it will not allow me to resize the partition, nor copy the DMG and chunklist file. It says not enough space. Paragon does nothing but show the partition as formatted, no editing capabilitiy. I wish it worked as well as yours.

I've had several people in the comments mention this exact same thing. It has never happened to me. Maybe try to close the application, unplug the USB device, plug it in again, and then reopen the apps. It might be that something is not working appropriately.
Other than that, only thing that comes to my mind is the USB drive being faulty.
Please report, if successful for others to have as a reference.
Follow the steps from video regarding formatting the USB as Fat32. Then, follow this: From Windows, open a “Command Prompt with administrative permissions” window. Type the diskpart command and press Enter. Type the list disk command and press Enter to view a listing of drives connected to your computer. Type the select disk command followed the number assigned for the USB flash drive (e.g., select disk 4), and press Enter. Type the clean command and press Enter. Type the convert GPT command and press Enter. Type the create partition primary command and press Enter to complete the task. After this, then you are free to open TransMac. Sorry I am a year late.

Following your instructions, my problem got a little more complicated and hopefully this will help someone else.
Transmac would not let me copy those extra files to the USB drive, it threw an error message everytime.
Fortunately I had another piece of software from failed utube videos trying to do the same as your video, 'HFS+ for Windows'. That has a Use in File Explorer option, that would let me copy the files across to add to the image already there. Next, on the Macbook air 2015 laptop it would not install from this fresh USB creation, error code 8. Certainly some corruption. I had to use Disk Utility from the top menu and run first aid on the sub partitions repetitively until the errors were gone before it would let me then erase the SSD completely. Then add a Macintosh HD partition back, then I could install from the USB drive! Finally now up and running.
Thanks for contributing to the video for all people that might be having the same issue.

It should work for all versions that are available through the website in the URL that I provided.

I'm following every step, but when I get formatting the drive with the .dmg base system file, I got to paragon and the drive is unformatted and says nothing is on it. It reverts back to MBR everytime. I checked the settings on transmac. Still nothing. This makes no sense.
That is definitely weird. Are you sure you are selecting the right device? Also, is your USB device a "good brand?" Remember that there are a lot of fake Chinese USB devices without the advertised capacity and that can cause you issues.
I would also recommend to disconnect the USB and close the apps, every time you are trying. Sometimes devices don't work well after multiple attempts with the apps open and the devices being automatically unmounted/mounted by Windows.
Hope you can find the solution and post it here for others with the same issue.

So far it's installing well, thank you so much. 12/11/2024 you do not need PARAGON. In settings i clikced on only 2 check marks, and it asks you if you want to fill the USB drive up, just say yes and it works!!

I have not had that issue. I have replied to some comments with similar issues and provided suggestions to their comments.
Could be anything from a bad USB, to having to close the app, plug the drive again, and restart the process.
Make sure to always start from a freshly formatted FAT32 partition.

When I went through the process and selected OS X Base System in the boot menu, a loading bar along with the Apple logo showed up. The loading bar never finishes, what do I do?
Hard to say. It should finish loading and you should get the installer interface. You might have done something different from what I did in the guide.
@@techbytetips It might be the fact that El Capitan is the latest thing it supports and that it can't update to the last version of it which is distributed on Apple's website. That being said, I did try Yosemite but it did the same thing
Well@@whats2by2 , you should not be trying newers systems if you already know the latest it can use is El Capitan. My video was using El Capitan, so, you can install that one.

It shouldn't have. El Capitan is no longer getting maintained. When navigating through the .dmg using 7-zip make sure to follow the instructions exactly as I mentioned them. It doesn't work if you select open instead of open with * for example.

Hi@@CesarPerelli-j6w, I am not sure that I am understanding what you are saying. Even if you download from the App Store, it should be a package. Inside that package there are a lot of files. You are looking for the DMG that contains the actual OS. From that DMG is that you extract the files that you need. Can you provide details as to how you got the files and what you got?
Thank you for responding. When I download it from the App Store, it only comes as a .dmg file. It doesn't come as a package, so I don't see the options to extract all the files in 7-Zip. So basically, I can't open the files in 7-Zip to extract and follow your steps.@@techbytetips

3:50 of the video explains how to get the proper files from the DMG that you get. The DMG is an image file, so, it IS a package. Did you watch that part?
