- Seven-time Olympic gold medalist Caeleb Dressel looks back on COVID-19 postponing the Tokyo Olympics, including the highs and lows that came with the one-year delay. Dressel and his former coach Gregg Troy say that both Dressel and fellow Olympic swimmer Ryan Lochte would have performed better in 2020, and that Lochte would have made the Olympic team if the Games proceeded as planned. Plus, Dressel’s wife Meghan joins the conversation to help illustrate some of the perks of the pandemic, including “white wine night” on Fridays.

Cool to see the respect he has for lochte. People don’t realize how dominant lochte was because his career just got over shadowed by Phelps. There are simply no swimmers like him on team USA anymore
Don’t forget Laslo Cseh. The guy could’ve won 3-4 gold medals for Hungary.

No mention of the significant age difference between him and Ryan Lochte. Lochte would have been 36 in 2020. Very hard to make an Olympic team in swimming if you're over the age of 30, so imagine at 36.
It’s possible. You have to pull off some TB12 regimen. If Phelps continued, he would’ve done something like that.

Its true Ryan Lochte would have made the Olympic team if we didn’t have this stupid Covid pandemic that shut all the sports down it was ridiculous and not fun at all I’m a competitive swimmer and I’m finally going back after a 3 year being away from the deck I’m excited I’ll swim against 15 years olds middle of summer if not next fall to make up but it will be nice to see some of the coaches and give it one final bang

Seriously folks, we all know that ridiculous 14 month suspension would NEVER have happened if Ryan was jewish or black, because USA Swimming would have been accused of discrimination and people would have been rioting in the streets to have the suspension removed. There is a reason why nice guys like him need a ruthless battle axe of a manager/agent to put the fear of God into anyone that dares to threaten their client... where was his publicist and his legal team when this insane media 'doping' story happened.)

Apparently not. As a Romanian, I would have loved to see him compete against David Popovici in Budapest in 2022. But he was probably too proud to risk losing against a 17 year old.
