3D Stereogram of a Calabi Yau Manifold

  • This animation is a stereogram, so if you view the left image with your left eye and the right image with your right eye, it should produce the illusion of being 3D. Focusing your eyes properly for this effect can take some practice. If you're unsure how to do this, I would recommend viewing on a small screen (like a smart phone) and start with it very close to your eyes and gradually move it away until it comes into focus.
    From Wikipedia:
    A Calabi--Yau manifold, also known as a Calabi--Yau space, is a special type of manifold that is described in certain branches of mathematics such as algebraic geometry. The Calabi--Yau manifold's properties, such as Ricci flatness, also yield applications in theoretical physics. Particularly in superstring theory, the extra dimensions of spacetime are sometimes conjectured to take the form of a 6-dimensional Calabi--Yau manifold, which led to the idea of mirror symmetry.

    Calabi yau manifold.... Beautiful stuff. Very complex mathematics, I studied riemannian manifolds, however the mathematics such as riemannian geometry, ricci curvature tensors etc.. proved to be a bit too complex but its a beautiful topic that's for sure..

      haha literally complex! yk since they're complex manifolds that have a riemannian structure, complex structure and a symplectic structure at once and they're ricci flat

    Beautiful work.
    I have seen an infinite number of these while under the influence of dimethyltryptamine. When connected through many dimensions it resembles a fluctating web of colors that we cannot possibly visualize in our waking states of consciousness.

      Don't cross your eyes. This is meant for parallel vision. You need to let your eyes drift apart a bit, as if you're looking at something far away. Try pausing the video, get your face right up to the screen and place your flat hand with your index finger on your nose to separate the images. Once the two images start merging into one, increase the distance and remove your hand. You may still see three images, focus on the middle one. With some experience, you can get good at this and it becomes easy to look at stereograms.

    Now repeat after me: cross-eye stereograms are infinitely easier to watch than thousand-yard-stare stereograms. Never do thousand-yard-stare stereograms. Always do cross-eye stereograms. Thank you.

    So are we actually experiencing life in multi dimensions already but only when we can understand the physics of them can we then unlock access to the far reaches for the universe or multiverse?

      I find it conspicuous the geometric abstractions we need for advanced physics also appear for understanding our own brains and machine learning (which we have a lot to learn but to be clear am not making an analog to the human brain because it's actually very different).
      I speculate consciousness and language may have something to do with being emergent from some pure mathematical concept.

      It's not a 3 dimensional object, it can't be 3d printed. This is like asking for a drawing of a cube, only the drawing is 3 dimensional and the cube 10 dimensional.

    • @refinedmonkey
      @refinedmonkey 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@covalencedust2603 Yeah, this is a common misconception when talking about higher dimensions. Since we are 3 dimensional and technically only see 2 dimensions, we can’t possibly perceive a higher dimension unless we were from that dimensional space. The 2d drawings and models we see are just a way to sort of visually explain how they work. Sheesh, Quantum physics eh? Sorry for writing that much, plus this comments from 3 years ago

    • @forgefyre7.622
      @forgefyre7.622 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It works. Look past it until you see 3 of them with it about 4 to 5 inches from your eyes. When you see three pay attention to the middle one WITHOUT focusing on it. Continue to look past it. Then VERY slowly move away from the screen. Never focus ON the screen. Keep looking past it. If it snaps to 2, you messed up and must start over. Eventually you can get the middle one "focused" while in 3D.

      Do you know what's its size? If no, then its 10^-35 metres also called Planck Lenght. According to today's physics, it's literally impossible to even look at this particle because to see sub-atomic particles, you have to shoot (probably) neutrons at it, so it can bounce off the particle. But, CYM's is smaller than the wavelength of the (probably) neutrons. So, it can't bounce off CYM. To see this shit, you have to shrink neutrons wavelenght that it will create a microscopic BLACK HOLE THAT WILL DEVOUR YOU!!
