If Buddy Holly was never around, The Beatles wouldn't have existed (at least as we know them) and then other legendary bands such as Crowded House, Metallica etc probably wouldn't have ever been formed. As basic as his songs seem these days he was certainly far ahead of his time and changed music forever.
