I'm so sick of all the people leaving rude comments about the Trooper's looks, and speech. Even if she wasn't a THP Trooper and liquidated a threat like that I don't care if she looked like a Picasso and spoke only Aramaic Cpl. Hope Hohertz is one HELL of a damn fine officer. I defy anyone taking cheap shots at her to do the same when she has them stopped for an infraction. OH MAN I wish people could just let people be. Life is not a beauty pageant, it does not come with a podium to pull in front of ourselves to give speeches nor did Cpl. Hohertz present herself as an orator. She presented herself as what she is, a Texas State Trooper
I agree. There’s nothing wrong with the way she looks or sounds. Instead of talking about the incident and how well the Officer did they have to slag her off for her looks etc. People are so rude and stupid. She deserves her award for doing an amazing job.
A true hero! She keep moving towards the shooter risking her own life in order to protect the community. Only a hero places everyone else's well-being so much above her own.
Awesome footage ! Texas Troopers are superior in their tactics and no nonsense business . Professionalism at its HIGHEST ! God Bless Our Texas Troopers , The Texas Rangers and Their Families !
Damn! She was an absolute beast and utterly heroic. She did her job but we all (in a civilized society) hold her in a different regard. Way to go LEADER!!!
Much respect for Texas DPS Troopers. I have met and interacted with a lot of cops in my 70+ years. Never have I encountered a Tx. Trooper who was NOT courteous and professional. I don't know what their formula is. But DPS seems to have a better class of cop in general than any department or agency I've run across. As a Texan Im proud of our state cops. It SEEMS, to me anyway that most states have a state police agency that's a cut above. Why that is I don't pretend to know. There is ONE exception, a neighboring state, but my understanding is they have moved in a positive direction in the past several years. Now if we could just get it to spread across ALL jurisdictions we'd be better off. PRIDE and PROFESSIONALISM. Those are key. Be proud of who you are, what you do, and do it the best damn way you can. EVERY TIME.
There are a bunch of us proud of you Trooper. The response to a potentially deadly incident was something to which every officer should aspire. I, along with every right minded Texan salute you.
Great job Trooper Hope, because of your actions, Texas is a better place to live, I had the good fortune to meet her back in 2017 and she’s not only an outstanding Texas Peace Officer but also a great human being, thank you for your service Corporal Hope Hohertz.
If it wasn't for that trooper the city cop would have been dead. The trooper recognized the weapon in the first place, and put the first and maybe only shots on the suspect at the initial stop. She placed herself in a place of cover while still able to yell commands and then open fire once more while the city cop took herself out of the fight. Also, where was that same city cop in the final moments? Good job trooper.
I was thinking the same thing At first I thought she was the cop in front of the troper during the final gun fight but then I noticed it was a different cop... where did the female cop go?
I totally agree...In my opinion she completely left that Trooper to fend for herself.. she probably could of took out the threat when he was focused on the trooper, to me she panicked got scared and left that trooper all by herself- it’s all on camera, I wouldn’t want her backing me up in a shit storm. That trooper knows what she did deep down inside. Props to the Trooper, She’s a real bad ass . 👍🏼
Lovely that the local PD policewoman, whom the Trooper responded to help, just ran and hid behind her patrol car as the Trooper was exchanging rounds with the suspect. Goes to show you they not all are created equal
Great job! I’m from the UK and used to be a police officer. I can only imagine how hard the job must be for you guys over there having to face people with firearms. Our officers are unarmed here in the UK but we have specialist firearms units.
We have what is called a *system of checks and balances* here in the US. You see, our country was founded by rebels that threw off the oppressive shackles of British monarchy, and our founders saw fit to keep the populace armed so that if the government and its lackeys (military and police) ever became oppressive, the common man could have a chance to fight back against the threat. Our police USED to be fairly polite and acted within the limited authority that they were granted, but then we gave them guns. Now they're a bunch of assholes.
We didn't have police until the 1850s or so. Our police engaged property crimes and crimes against violence. When Prohibition began, when a vocal minority decided to make everyone else like them, is when this country started down a long painful road.
There is a strong black market in Britain too. Mostly former Eastern bloc firearms. Doubtless if the Pakistanis from Darra ever come to Britain they could set up shop and do well. Free hint folks - shotgun powder works great in handguns.
Corporal, congratulations an officer of the year for the Texas DPS. I'm sure you're very proud, as I'm sure all of your brothers and sisters who wear the badge, and your family are also very proud.
That's why you don't mess with Texas. Glad everyone important was okay. Anyone else notice she didn't even take time to check herself while covering herself and that minivan. Now a message to parents: If you're ever approaching a direction from which gunshots sounds just came, do NOT go where the Police are if you want to remain unpierced. Thank You
Mr. Cox; This is the United States of America. Not of Texas. "Messing with Texas" has nothing to do with it. Everyday our Officers and Troopers all over this" United States" put their lives on the line and their only "Hope" is too go home at the end of shift and be with their families. Enough said.
No this was the state of Texas. If you watch the video you will notice that she is a Texas State Trooper. I don't understand what the other 49 states have to do with this video and I will have you know I don't even live in Texas. Where I live doesn't mean I want certain police officers hurt. I want all officers of the law to return home safely. I just saw the levity in the fact she ventilated the criminal very well, and not humorous she had to cover herself but the idiot civilian driving the minivan. She also had that trigger pulled on her at least a few times but her training took over and she did a damn fine job representing the the Texas State Troopers, by the way I don't even live in Texas. I am a firm believer Police have been taking a bad wrap for a long time, no matter what state. The BS I've seen Police put up with in daily tangible life and then seeing crap like this on TH-cam...disgusting. There used to be a time when things weren't so blurry and I'd love to see those days return but it's not happening. So for what reason my comment struck an I'll chord with you I was verbally applauding the Trooper and hoping people will see some actual gender equality ( even though I believe the criminal is less of a man for shooting at a woman, Police or not (you know don't shoot at Police officers because she might be a woman but she's still subject to the same shooting qualification. Wow, I was not feeling the need to write all of this when I left my initial comment but you just got all sorts of jealous.

I know I'm late, but did she win? Even if she didn't, she is what law enforcement is all about. You have people who just wear the badge and then you have people like Hope who does her job well and beyond the call. Texas State Troopers/Rangers will ALWAYS KICK ASS!
There is something to be said about a good looking woman that is smart, courageous, looks nice in a uniform, and and can shoot like no other. Never mess with a Texas woman that can shoot.
I also want to say good job to the female deputy because most wouldn't have done what she did. I know it took a lot of heart to be able to stay focused the way she did so good job to you.
two things I would question on this. I wonder why Hope didn't have her gun upholstered already. The second thing is the woman police officer that initiated the stop was no bueno. She ran and did not get herself involved in the gun fight at all. I bet she was the biggest, and the baddest hard butt on the streets, but when stuff got real she was out of there. the woman state trooper really handled her business.
I always find this funny how criminals even consider they would get away with shooting at a police officer anywhere within the boundaries of the State of Texas. It doesn't matter if you are in the middle of nowhere. A shots fired call goes out with the addition of suspect shot at officer and fleeing and literally every state trooper, Texas Rangers in the vicinity, TPW Game Wardens, the local County Sheriff themselves and every available deputy on and off duty, and any available police officer from any neighboring towns would be Code 3 straight to that scene without even a thought. The copter will be up in the air in minutes. Road blocks set up less than an hour. Like, give me a break. The suspect in this video thought he would get away? Really now? Lets not also forget the level of training these officers have. Look how long the video is. By the time the Trooper took the kill shot, count how many police officers were on scene. And that was only a few minutes. Any person that shoots at a LEO in Texas has really got zero common sense.
Anyone, who attempts to shoot and kill an Officer of the Law, wouldn't hesitate to kill not just one, but a number of civilians if they had the chance. Whether they try to rob, kidnap, or any other crime they may attempt. Texas Trooper Corporal Hope Hohertz, is indeed a Hero.
I've traveled more than you've dreamed of and I fear the police more than any country I've ever visited. No other nation on the planet kills as many of it's citizens as USA Police, err, your sister and her brotherin.
Clueless... You fear police? Some people are genetically cowards. Dogs and cops can sense that. I'm the opposite. No cops frighten me and stray dogs love me. You might try bathing in tomato juice. And, our brother is not a cop, he's a dentist...FYI.
It almost makes me cry that someone risk the life of a whole city the whole police department everybody around them and takes a chance to be a good person with the actions that she made she really made life better she made me understand that people are good and that they can try she made a very very good decision although it could’ve killed the guy she made a good decision
