As far as I'm aware, growing a beard is not ONLY a sunnah. Sunnah isn't just 'optional' contrary to popular opinion. It is a waajib 'obligatory' by the consensus of almost all scholars. The definition of what constitutes a beard and how long it's supposed to be is up for debate.
How about making freedom, security and prosperity obligatory?! Fyi, Muslim majority countries supported Russia and its army against the Chechen Republic of Ichkeria and its people. More and more Chechen people like myself do not care what the Ummah says anymore. 😉
@anonymousanonymous-y6p Does making the beard obligatory somehow make freedom, prosperity, security not obligatory? It has no relation, and all can be obligatory. As for your statement about the ummah: the Muslim majority country’s that supported Russia, are all secular republics in their constitution. They don’t care about islam or the ummah and they are just as much an enemy as Russia is. However the country your referring to is Azerbaijan, which is the only Muslim majority country to actually support Russian military action in the north Caucasus (unofficially). All other countries only by word, which is meaningless because they are obviously lying. Just as the US and Israel support each other, yet they spy on one another still and don’t trust each other. Don’t be fooled by political statements Azerbaijan is a shia country, and a secular government, so what can you expect of them? Shia have always sided with Christians against Muslims for centuries, with only a few notable exceptions. As for the rest of the ummah, look at a map buddy. During the chechen wars, the rest of the ummah were busy with their own wars, or had no money or ability to help your people. Bosnia was in the middle of a war. Algeria was in a civil war, Tajikistan was in a civil war, Afghanistan was in a civil war after a soviet invasion, yemen, Somalia, and many other African countries were in conflict. Iraq had just finished 2 wars and was under extreme sanctions that crippled its economy, only to be invaded again some years later. Even Azerbaijan who was supporting Russia (with information considering they are your neighbors) was recovering from a war. The countries that were not in war, were dirt poor and trying to rebuild their economy after decades of soviet occupation, such as Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, etc. Even under these circumstances, Afghanistan and some rich arab countries sent money and weapons to the Chechens (in some cases its just simply impossible given the distance and russian interception). But really, your question is like asking a homeless man for financial help, when he can’t even help himself. Why don’t you see Algerians asking chechens why they didn’t help them during their war? Algerians understand chechens had their own problems to deal with. So instead of blaming the ummah, realize the ummah couldn’t do anything even if they wanted to. But these days since the 2010s, much of the “ummah” like turkey have come out of their economic issues of the past, they aren’t great now but in a much better position. If after this period, the ummah doesn’t help the Chechens, then you can blame them.

@anonymousanonymous-y6p Yes, and the US always says “we are here to spread freedom and democracy” and they spread nothing but destruction and chaos. Do you believe their words? North Korea says, “we are a democracy”, it is literally in their name “the democratic peoples republic of north korea” and they hold elections. But are they democratic? No. Israel says all Palestinians have equal rights as israelis, but do they actually have these rights? On paper, yes but in practice no! As for UN resolutions, they are meaningless. In fact the Taliban was the only nation to recognize Chechen independence from Russia, and to open a chechen embassy in Kabul. This is despite the taliban saying they do not wish to interfere in Russian affairs. So if Qatar, Saudi, Libya, Egypt, Algeria, Iraq or whoever says “Chechnya is an internal matter for Russia.” This does not mean they believe it. These are all lies to avoid unnecessary ire from Russia. Indeed, even the Prophet SAW said, “war is deception.” And Napoleon once said, the first casualty in war is the truth. Science: the beard is a type of “armor” for your face. Many tribal / warrior societies grow beards for the occasion of war. Culture: cultural symbols, even things as subtle as color are important for social cohesion. How you see and hear things subconsciously affects your attitude and your ability to function. This is a tactic businesses use for attracting customers. Just as businesses use advertising to sell products, a culture uses its own symbols as a form of marketing and soft power. This can be the flag of a nation, to its military uniform, genetic phenotype, architectural style, literature, film, music, clothing, etc. One of the strongest symbols of a warrior nation is their beard, because it represents a nation with strong men and with confidence.
