  • Due to its incredibly small size and ease of use, I was intrigued by the Beta98 for live gigs for my snare. So I bought it! This is a comparison with the SM57, pretty much the go-to mic for the snare drum. The results were interesting...they are definitely different. Check it out!

I bought the 98 with similar intention, but wound up really not liking the boosted highs and the hi-hat bleed… so I wound up trying it on my rack tom where I can get a little more aggressive with the low pass filter and it works really well there… well enough that I bought a second one for my floor tom.
Ironically I wound up with a 441 on my snare… talk about limited space options… worth it tho once it’s in place.

Assuing you meant the Sennheiser 441, yea that's a big mic! For me the 98 is fine for live gigs, where the HH bleed is actually a plus! Thanks for the feedback!

They were both great and would work together well 🤔 I think I preferred the 57 on the snare. That said, I just got the 3-pack of 98’s for my toms and they’re 😘👌🏼🤌🏼
