Would love to hear more in-depth from Renaud, especially regarding right-hand technique, playing with minimal effort, and improvisation; he's been quite the role model for me ever since I picked up the upright. Thank you for these videos!
Agreed! He's a living legend and it would be amazing to cover his technique. It's certainly something we would love to do in future. Thanks for watching.
Thanks Leo, i really appreciate that and I'm glad you have enjoyed this series as much as I have. It's been so cool to hear from so many of my bass heroes. Next week we have the last question in this set so stay tuned!
He’s an incredible bassist! This series is just a selection of the world’s best players and there are others like Odon Racz who we would love to feature in future.
@@DiscoverDoubleBass Ödön Racz has 2 CDs with Deutsche Grammophon. Why isn't he here? Ludwig Streicher celebrates 100 Birthday this year. Ödön Racz is 2. Generation Ludwig Streicher.
That's a tough one as they are all quite expensive. The most popular makers are Thomastik, D'Addario, Pirastro, so I would search for those and see if you can find any deals online. Good luck with your bass playing.
Joel Quarrington's exercise has been a real eye opener to me.
Agreed! Joel is such an inspiring teacher and player.

Absolutely. He is an incredible bass player who we would love to feature in future.
This may be a 35 min video, but by now I’ve seen 2 exercises and they took me two very productive hours already :D

What do you think the purpose of the Karr exercise is? Avoiding accidental double stops? Or is it just his way of getting a good tone from the string?
String crossing exercises can really help you to play faster, more accurately and with a cleaner sound.
For me it's the bow stroke You make for a fast change from D to G and D to A.
Do you recommend any affordable, bass strings?
