Alissa sang in The Agonist mixing cleans in alot in their song "Thank you pain". She was a part of that band from 2004 to 2014.
In that band she did swan lake a capella.

How about the Swiss band Burning Witches or any number of Japanese girl rock bands like Love Bites, Mary's Blood, or Band-Maid?
There are tons of female metal leads. In fact, it has become quite the trend. All the way back to Guano Apes, Kittie, OTEP, etc. What we need is more female metal FANS! But instead they all want to listen to Ed Sheeran or whatever current effeminate dude is singing like a girl to a computerized melody at the moment.
In This Moment is shit now. After the first 3 albums they're garbage. But I will say Maria Brink is a badass singer. Great voice. @@45banshee

These 2 just flipped the script on being more metal than men. These 2 would create a killer album. Nita insane guitar talent with Alissa's intense growls and cleans. EPIC

That's a good Metal song. It has everything. Dirt & clean voice on black Metal rhythm guitar & a cool 80's style solo with the drums underneath driving hard.

I grew up in the 80s, when women in metal were pretty much Lita Ford and Vixen. Times have sure changed!!
Mostly listen to all female or female fronted metal nowadays. This song kills. One of my recent faves. Jinjer, Arch Enemy, Crypta, Lutharo and a slew of Japanese bands are killing it in metal and I love it.

I called Great Kat on the phone ages ago. Never met but had her number. She was a little cranky with me, but was actually really cool when she realized I didn’t realize she was on East Coast time, and was just a kid, and was a legit fan.

Well, they aren't more metal than guys, but at least just as much in my opinion. Also, nice to see someone properly react to the technicalities, not just the two beautiful women in this music video. Particularly the bass in the background and Josh's skills on the drums.

Nice analysis. The past 2 years I've really gotten into women in metal. It all started with JINJER (if Halford is the metal god, Tatiana is the metal goddess) which led to many others including but not limited to Infected Rain, Butcher Babies, Nita Strauss, Arch Enemy, Nightwish, Sumo Cyco, Babymetal, etc. Another band, not really metal but rock, is The Warning. Way before all this of course we had Lita Ford, Doro, Lzzy Hale, Joan Jett, Pat Benetar, Nancy and Ann Wilson, etc. Women have always been instrumental in rock and metal but it seems the past 20 years led by Angela Gossow and Tarja women in metal is becoming much more common and I fucking LOVE IT.

I think Nita is the best female guitar player in rock music right now. She has perfect guitar technique and very good licks. She was with Alice Cooper for a while and then went to Demi lavato. I think she could be in any band and be a compliment to the band. She did a song with the disturbed lead singer too i think. The song was pretty good I liked it.

Metal has survived for over 50 years, because it keeps evolving, girls are having a real crack, but! No they do not rule Metal, we all have our favourite bands, I am a Metal dinosaur, hence my favourite bands, are from the 70’s, 80’s, glad each new generation can enjoy, The Metal!

Singing clean is NOT a very different sound for Alissa. She's been doing that a lot for years, from when she was in The Agonist. She's even begun doing it on this latest Arch Enemy album as well. When she first joined Arch Enemy she didn't use any of her cleans.
