      elastics? You should ask your doc- I normally say to take them out

    Have a question, so I have class 3 on my left side, class 1 on my right. What is it supposed to do about my bite?

      @Straightsmilesolutions  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Not sure, class 3 molar or class 3 canine or both? It depends if you have a bolton (tooth size discrepancy) or not

      it’s both class three molar and class three canine. I don’t believe I have that because I have never been informed I have that and I measured them to see if one was bigger but they were about the same size, so I’m assuming I don’t have it

      ok well ask your doctor, maybe they will use elastics, maybe IPR

    Is 3/16" and 6.5 oz elastics class 2 or class 3?

    Is there a benefit of using a 2nd molar, instead of a 1st molar for anchorage when using and elastic?

      Good question! So this changes the "vector" of force. It can help for more severe cases but it's also a lot more uncomfortable and hard to put on

    Hi I have a really bad overbite and everything and every orthodontist online shows that ur suppose to be wearing class 2 elastics to fix an overbite but my orthodontist is telling me to wear class 3 elastics. I have a surgery coming up in about two years to fix my jaw/overbite and I’m suppose to be wearing my braces in the mean time. I just don’t understand why they’re making me wear class 3 elastics when it’s literally making my overbite worse? pls explain if u can

    • @Straightsmilesolutions

      I can explain that I think so when you are prepping a patient for jaw surgery you do things totally backwards then what you would do for a regular patient. What you're trying to do is remove the decompensations so yes class 3 elastics would make sense for a class two patient who was prepping for jaw surgery that way they get the teeth all ready to go so that they can just cut the bones and fit the jaws together and hopefully be done ASAP! You're orthodontist should be able to explain this better to you if they haven't but that's good you're asking the question

    Question: on a class 2 what if I have a lower tooth on the left side for the elastics but not a tooth on the right side..how would my orthodontist have me wear my elastics for a over jet? Meaning the lower mollar is on the left but not the right side

    • @Straightsmilesolutions
      @Straightsmilesolutions  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It may not be possible then because you have no anchorage. You could get a tad or mini implant

    What benefits does it give if your dentist let you wear class 2 and 3 at the same time?

    • @Straightsmilesolutions
      @Straightsmilesolutions  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      on the same side? That makes no sense to me. On one side one and the other side the other? That's for midlines

    • @Lol-vv3fo
      @Lol-vv3fo 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes class 2 on left and 3 on right.. may i also ask how it helps with midlines? Cause I always see people do front cross with midlines and im curious what their differences is, thank you!!!

      There are all kinds of ways to do this.

    Hello! Do class 2 elastics retract the upper jaw and therefore restrict the airway?

    • @Straightsmilesolutions
      @Straightsmilesolutions  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good question. Nope. A headgear might do that because it has enough force to retract the jaw but elastics are too light. They just "lean" teeth

    Hi there! So the smallest diameter that can be tolerated for class 2 elastics.. Does it matter what weight? For instance 3/16 heavy 6 oz bands okay for class 2?

    Does class 2 right side and class 3 left side work together to fix the upper midline?

    • @Straightsmilesolutions
      @Straightsmilesolutions  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It really depends on a variety of factors. I'd ask your doc to evaluate this situation. This video will also help: th-cam.com/video/n_0K07e1T0A/w-d-xo.html

      My dentist made me do this too for my midline and im curious cause other dentists tell u to wear elastics into front cross if you have a midline.. well lets just trust them i guess😅

    Hi I got an underbit but my elastic bands are like the class 2 what they do for overbite why is this? Shouldn’t it be class 3 as that’s what sorts an underbit ( jaw more forward)? I am having Jae surgery next year to if that’s anything to do with it? Thanks

    • @Straightsmilesolutions
      @Straightsmilesolutions  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      NO idea! You should ask your dentist but most likely yes if you are doing jaw surgery the mechanics are backwards to make the negative overjet as BIG as possible so you can get the most out of your surgery

    Is it normal for my doctor to give me class 3 on the right and class 2 on the left

  • @saxdans9027
    @saxdans9027 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Question: my ortho told me to wear class 2 on the left and class 3 on the right side to fix my midline but my midlines going to the left, isnt this going to make it worse? I honestly have no idea what to do i need advice here😭

    • @Straightsmilesolutions
      @Straightsmilesolutions  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You'll want to go back to your ortho and show him/her. Your concern is valid. If you feel the problem is getting worse please seek a 2nd opinion from another orthodontist in your area

      Thanks! I might wait a week or so first to see if its going to look worse or not and ask them about it. This has been very helpful thank you again!
