@neofulcrum5013 The, theoretical, point of the CIS was that they were fighting to create a decentralized system, which is why they are a confederacy. Not sure if this works for Palpatine or not.
@@KingFlameHawk It would have if he'd wanted it to- the Separatist Council and corporate states worked very well to create a totalitarian hyper-capitalist, slave-trading society that by any measure was even worse than the Republic. By the point the clone army was ordered, the Sith had decided on usurping the Republic by appearing to save it, rather than crushing it with the emerging Separatist movement which they also controlled, so a lot of battles were thrown by the Confederate leadership, knowingly or unknowingly. I'd be interested in seeing some videos about cases where the CIS came closest to winning despite Palpatine's maneuvers, and how he could have adjusted accordingly. By the second year of the war it's pretty unlikely with the secret reserve force being underway in legends/predisney, but there were definitely cases where a confederate victory was likely and required direct sith intervention. Most notably, Geonosis, as Geetsly has discussed, and also sending Merai to his death at first Kamino in the pre-disney canon. The confederacy definitely had the resources to brute force a victory in the first months of the war, and required careful managing to not achieve it. Hell, the confederate forces on Geonosis could have seized an unguarded Coruscant on day 1 if the sith hadn't manipulated the Republic into accepting a slave clone army out of desperation AND laid a trail to Geonosis.
The CIS theoretically planed to win, that was their goal, to win the war. But you are right, Palpatine and Dooku manipulated them. Dooku as head of state for the CIS carefully orchestrated the war so the CIS would slowly be defeated and Palpatine win the Republic public + many Jedi got killed in the war. If Dooku and Palpaine hadn't sabotage the CIS they would have surely won the Clone Wars, no matter if a clone is worth 10 battle droids and a Jedi 100 droids.
They could of the whole time. The CIS easily had the power to curve stomp the Republic in a matter of days. But Palpatine heavily nerfed the CIS, so therefore the battle droids and even the biological commanders were made dumb and given terrible information.
@@joshuahudnell7401 I feel like nerding out, but yes, I am fascinated by zeon’s MS and disappointed at how their winning suits come to little too late. Especially considering how much work goes into each model.
Honestly, seeing Droids working to their fullest potential was great to see. It was plot armor and Crosshair that led to an Empire victory. I really would love to more Droids working to their full potential rather than plot and dumb decisions by their commanders forcing them to be idiots.
Inductive Grunt9 Clones are more skilled than droids the only thing have over clones is numbers and what do u means its crosshair that led a victory for the empire the other clones helped aswell like that clone nova that took out a droideka, and lets not forget clones didn't use there fullest potential either are we forgetting that the jedi were the cause of alot of clone deaths because of there terrible stragetgys
@@LarryPigeon1 in that episode the clones were better u didn't see that droideka get smoke by the clone nova? And lets not forget there was only a squad of clones vs a battllion of droids and they had a tactical droid caculating battling stragetys clones have always been better than droids but the droids always outnumber clones tho for imstance the mandos fought the droids and they lost cause the droids heavily outnumbered them
The clones were also noticeably mute and cleanly competent in contrast to the clone wars episodes. Shows the mental change of the old days compared to the aftermath of Order 66
I think that was just Cody's squad. Cody was a very no nonsense type of guy and his squad reflected that. I think Cody worked with those guys a lot, given he was pretty sad when Nova but the dust. Also, I don't know if the empire was doing this yet, but at some point they started monitoring trooper's comms, so that might also be why.
Given that these Battle Droids were reprogrammed, it would not be outside the realm of possibility that these droids got restored to their factory settings and were given a fresh set of programming that did not ask too much of the individual droids’ capabilities.
@@StoriesByDighe I beg to differ. We've actually seen cases of droids refusing the droid shutdown signal before. So I believe more that droids denying the shutdown signal instead wipes out a part of their programming that causes the droid incompetence.
Same goes for the tac droid it was probably never meant to control such a huge amount of them at the same time rather the small force like this one was probably what it was designed for
Yeah. When a tactical droid commands a smaller group, they do it a lot better, though many were reckless and were willing to sacrifice droids, civilians or positions to win - which the Republic could sometimes use against them. This is a much smaller group, but large enough to function as a proper small army, and I also think they weren't factory reset, not fully, but retained enough information from their battles or that of other droids, letting them use that experience in order to do their jobs better. So a more moderately sized amount to control, experience, some much-needed upgrades, and a good focus on the area and surroundings. Tactical droids are only good for MASSIVE amounts of droids when just relaying more simple information. Direct command is much more difficult, same for real life war or combat. A few top commanders for a large front, local commanders that are at the front itself, spread out evenly among the troops. Had the droids been a lot more numerous, then they'd have probably required another tactical droid to help, or more OOM-series Command Droids, as they were also programmed for commanding troops in the middle of a fight, as is seen early in the episode when this specific droid uses the binoculars very effectively.
The droidekas were, in my opinion, almost horror-like. The rolling sound echoing through the narrow streets would probably put any person on edge, even clones who have dealt with them before. It's deployment time from when it appeared to when it had it's shield up and opened fire definitely caught some of the clones by surprise. And it's redeployment, how quickly it disengaged and rolled down the stairs only to deploy again gave the clones almost no time to rest The droidekas came off as surprisingly agile and aggressive.
I'm glad they went back to their episode 1 depiction. They were a joke in TCW. Droid poppers, tanks, and rockets were always around to counter them in that show. They never allowed them to shine against standard infantry.
I was extremly stunned when i saw their potential in action. I was like:"Wait a minute, they actually fight like i want them to!" As much as i love clones in general, droids especially working like this are my absolute favorite. Especially with them still having these funky moments like the high-five.
I've always felt like the CIS were pretty sympathetic, at least their citizens. Most of their leaders were pretty evil, but that wasn't the people's fault, and the CIS had some very legitimate complaints about how the Republic functioned. If they had different leadership and weren't secretly formed as just another part of Palpatine's evil master plan, they could have actually had the moral high ground. Also, imagine if the droids in season 2 episode 3 had even a single Magnaguard with them. I think things might have gone differently.
if dooku was actually in charge with grievous as his second in command the republic just loses. dooku is smart AND powerful same with grievous. theres also a chance he would bring darth maul into his company meaning not only is the crime syndicate siding with the cis mandalore is aswell so you have 3 elite forces working together against a vastly lower numbered army
@@some_shitposting_idiot3023 so, if Dooku doesn’t fall under Sidious’ control, he still forms the Separatists and has Grievous as his second in command. And probably uses the right strategy to roll over the Republic.
@@aurelian2668 To be fair, it probably also would have taken longer for him to turn from the Jedi without Sidious, and that extra time would probably lead him to being much less willing to compromise his morals... if that were the case, I'm not even sure he'd be capable of forming the CIS. At the very least, a more moral Dooku would have a lot more trouble rallying support from the corporate sector, which at that point was the only authority even capable of opposing the Jedi and the broader Republic (Edit: I'm dumb, just realized how easy it would have been for him to just lie to the CIS- since that's what he was doing for the whole of the Clone Wars anyway- and then just backstab them and reform the operation without their corrupting influence.)
I'm pretty sure that droids in Star Wars always had personality and intelligence. In the films as well, from AotC onward, the droids are clearly sentient, just stupid.
@@leandraferesthogar7249B2s are brute force, like your club bouncers. They are muscle, not brains. The tactical droids, commandos, and assassins are supposed to be smart though.
I love how this episode showed what the clone wars would have been like without jedi The droids are a competent fighting force against clones and the clones take heavy losses also the clones don't just charge the enemy like the jedi would so often do they stick to cover and take the droids out slowly
Except we got plenty of Clone-centric episodes in the Clone Wars that still made the droids and Separatists into bumbling idiots and now that they’re giving the Separatists actual attention since they aren’t the main baddies, it’s just too obvious to ignore the script. It’s just more annoying if anything. It feels too late to make up for the lack of proper conflict in the Clone Wars, and honestly a bit of a slap in the fact that it took this long.
The Sep Holdouts were not going down without a fight. Hopefully the clone rebellion will do the same. We know they’ll both get their revenge against the empire in the future.
I wonder how much of the overperformance here was because the sith weren't interfering with the droids, either by directly throwing battles like 1st Geonosis, or saddling with with the greediest, most incompetent organic leadership they could find.
@@elisekehle8520 i think it was all because of the sith and lack of corporate junk. If the CIS was just that, a breakaway faction wanting freedom, they'd make sure their fighting force was the best it could be because losing is more expensive in my opinion. But the CIS was instead led by a Sith who controlled a bunch of Corporations, and if we know one thing about corporations especially in America the only thing they care about is maximizing profit. Why make really good Droid programming when it's cheaper to make some that just barely gets by.
Something I noticed is that the B1's actually sound like they're happier. They're more expressive, and their vocal range is wider. Cody, on the other hand, sounds less emotional. He's less expressive, and he has no passion for what he's doing anymore. Until we get to the negotiation. Then we start to hear him talk with genuine emotion and conviction. He truly believes in the offer of peace he's making, just like Obi-Wan used to do.
Ironic. The clones have become much more machine-like now that the war is over, whereas the droids seem to have more emotional and are happier. That high five after the droid in the tank hit the ship was glorious.
I wish there was a Disney plus tv series about the CIS droids on the frontlines just like about the bad batch, and maybe also focus on organic Separatists guerilla fighters fighting invading Republic armies of clones, Jedi and other pro republic planet systems that have colonial ambitions exploiting worlds in the outer rims and the mid rims.
Perhaps the story of what happened to the Super Tactical Droid that escaped the Empire with its droid forces in Star Wars: Rebels. I would also love to see an episode centered around a re-activated team of commando droids stealthily eliminating an Imperial outpost.
I always fanficed that if the clone wars lasted longer than 4 years, there would be more interesting moments in galactic history especially with moments like this where the droids be used almost similar to the clones in tactics as well as use their basic advantage of numbers
It's more right to say that this is a small glimpse of what the Clone Wars would have been without Palpatine's tampering. The Droid army was never meant to win against the Republic. The droid army was, without a doubt, much better than the clone army, and it was often sabotaged from the inside by Palpatine on purpose to keep the war going.
I was surprised to see the droids perform well here, and it was certainly great. I think the reason why the droids are used so much better now is because they cannot be easily produced, meaning that even these cheap units needed to be used intelligently.
Also, this senator wasn't an arrogant penny pinching warmonger. It's hard NOT to find a better commander than Grievous or the usual Seperatist characters from Clone Wars.
I think it's more to do with the droid shutdown code. Maybe those who refused the droid shutdown code (which we seen was possible from General Kalani in Rebels Season 3) had a code wiped that made them incompetent.
@@ZackarySchejbalCODBO2RGM2 Yes, Rebels S.3 episode "The Last Battle" showed the B-1's operating well with the Tactical Droid in charge. They put up quite a fight!
The clone wars didn't like to make the separatists tough, because much of the time they were portrayed as evil. They rarely showed separatist victories, especially against the main characters, because "good wins, evil loses". However, morality has changed in the bad batch. Even though it's Clones vs separatists, the governor is portrayed as someone more moral while crosshair is more evil, so they balance their strengths more. Personally, I don't think the droids were necessarily weaker in the clone wars. I just think they were portrayed as weaker because the writers wanted them to be, otherwise why would the separatists use such a weak army. Maybe the governor improved the droids a little bit, but not significantly
thnk part of it is that they were lead by incompetents for the most part, save for terrors like General grievous. Though we see grievous lose more often than not, he technically won more battles than he lost in the series. main charactesr being strong and out of the box and his own arrogance were often his downfall. all else fell to him. generally most seperatists operated using ZERG tactics. however desperation and a lack of industry caused the hold outs to use them optimally.
Tactical Droid also learns and adapt when facing the enemy. so from years of seeing clone tactics and strategies, as well as learning how the Empire now functions, the Tactical Droid became valuable droids to have as they can (now) accurately predict what the clones might do
Necessity is the mother of innovation. When you have a billion droids, you don't worry about strategy. You just use WW1 wave tactics and call it a day. When you have a single platoon of droids against a superior force, you get pretty damn creative.
Battles like these were happening all over the galaxy as the Second Clone Wars raged. While the Bad Batch is going on, Vader is leading the 501st in a campaign to destroy the remaining separatist strongholds that reactivated their droids to fight the empire. I'm happy we're seeing snippets of it but I would love to see more
The first moment of the droidekas, when the sound of they rolling throughout the steel floor of the citadel, and the sheer fear in the reactions of the clone unit to it showed us how really terrifying those things were on the battlefield.
I think I heard somewhere that tactical droids were incredibly dangerous after the clone wars cause they learn more from each battle they been in and the survivors are the more veteran tactical droids. Which is probably why this tactical droid wasn’t arrogant like the others
I think that part of the reason that the Droids fought better is the NEED to perform better The separatists didn't have an almost infinite supply of droids anymore, so the strategies needed to be better so that you don't lose many droids
Without the Jedi the CIS would’ve overrun the clones. They’re good. Worth a platoon, but not an endless tide that could replenish their losses the next day easily. I still wonder if Kalani ever linked up with main rebellion. Imagine a unit of commando droids helping the rebellion.
To be perfectly honest, the idea that clones could even compete with the bonkers technology on the CIS side was always a little iffy when you sit down and actually think about all the benefits a fully robotic army would have over an organic one, it gets even worse when you realize that we're talking about a galactic scale conflict. Making the B1s into a gaggle of morons is pretty much required for the CIS to believably not just steam roll the GAR. They had fully self aware starfighters that were cheap enough to mass produce... that's some wild stuff and only in a fantasy setting would something like that just fall out of use entirely.
The endless tide is what casts my doubt on the whole overstressed droid idea. It makes sense from a siege or drawn out battle prospective, but new droids in a new place shouldn't have all the same quirks. That's like a new computer coming predownloaded with tracking cookies and temp files.
@@ben501stthey probably have a lot of files downloaded into them when they get added to an existing force so as to be "caught" up on tactics, situation etc which likely causes them to break down
@accelerationquanta5816 I don't think quite understand just how much of a force multiplier Jedi were or the reserves that the republic could call on if need be
I also really liked the fluidity and slight expectation subversion they used in this episode, especially when it comes to the movements and reactions of clones to their environment, seeing them at first scramble away from and then begin to return fire with the Droideka that ambushes them on the stairs. It's not often we get to see those kinds of more intimate/realistic and physical reactions from the clones and it made me instantly think of other war movies where you see characters hugging cover and ducking up and down to return fire during a firefight.
Honestly Episode 4 wasn't bad, just not something high energy. It's a little hard to make something higher energy/more important than the bombshell of Cody going AWOL after an action packed episode, and it's nice to see that Cid probably hasn't tied herself too much to the Bad Batch.
Yeah, Episode 4 was not as heavy story-telling. But after the last three episodes, it was fine to take a break from that. And it was nice seeing some world-building with these races, showing what people in the setting actually did for fun.
I think this was just a show down of how where the battles between clones and droids without a Jedi close to unbalance the fight... a weird thing to see previously, but possible now because... you know, Palps and his ideas
All throughout the episode I kept finding myself rooting for the Droids which felt odd. While in the Clone Wars they had some of the funniest moments I always found myself rooting for the Clones but this time I found myself rooting for the droids and seeing what they actually could do when working effectively only had me rooting for them more. Of course like the video mentioned they lost (because of plot armor) and it was sad but at least they went down while being awesome. Hopefully we’ll get a few more episodes of B1’s actually being awesome in the future.
Bro the use of the Droidekas in episode 3 was fantastic, both tactically and cinematically. They would thrive in an urban setting and close quarters, and the fact that we couldn’t see them but could hear them made it feel like a horror movie. Magnifique!
Love the droid content. Always have been a huge fan of the CIS and the droid army as a whole. What I wouldn't give for a whole series dedicated to the best of the droid army, showing them as the terrifying and elite force they should have been. Yeah, I called them elite. Because that's EXACTLY what we got from this particular remnant of the CIS military in S2E3.
I really want to see an alternative universe version of the clone wars where the whole thing isn't being orchestrated by Palpatine. For example with Dooku falling to the dark side, but not becoming a sith, and founding the CIS on his own accord. He doesn't know of the clone army being trained, Sifo-Dyas isn't assassinated, etc.
Yeah, you have to remember a lot about the Clone Wars was specifically engineered by the Sith. Without them, it’s more likely multiple separatist movements would pop up instead of a unified one. Also without the threat of the Sith, Sifo-Dyas would never have made the order for the clones. Without the Sith, it would be more like a series of proxy wars where separatist groups fight security forces belonging to Republic worlds, with the Jedi and Judicial Forces only bring calked for extreme cases. The Republic would also take years to build up a military and that itself may not happen. The Senate was divided until the droid army was revealed along with the clone army. Otherwise the Military Creation Act could have gone either way.
When it came to the D-Squad arc and it came to the part where the Separatists filled a Venator with Rhydinium, I felt bad for that clanker who got crushed by the detonator
The CIS has always been my favorite faction and I loved seeing the droids portrayed as a competent fighting force. Don´t get me wrong I love the goofy droid moments but my heart was yearning for a scene like this one. Honestly the droid army would´ve prevailed if Palpatine hadn´t been pulling the strings all along.
another factor is the clones no longer have jedi commanders to help with extra intel or deal with the more advanced droids like droidikas or commandos also mentioned in the episode was droids would have been reprogrammed after the shut off order, so they'd be factory reset on memory, thus having empty RAM, as was said
It might also be of note that there aren't all that many droids on Desix. At most, there was a single battalion of B1s, a couple Droidekas and a handful of BXs. That alone would take a lot of pressure (or processing power) off the Tactical Droid compared to the large-scale conflicts in the Clone Wars. Instead of trying to organize several armies' worth of B1s, B2s, BXs and others; the Tactical Droid would be able to tightly coordinate a small group to fight tactically and effectively as well as cover any weaknesses that their diminished ranks would cause.
Imagine what the Droid Armies could've accomplished had the CIS done even regular maintenance on them. They could've made life a but harder for the Clone Troopers. That would make a nice "What if."
I really enjoyed watching the Droids in action without their tactics being rigged in favour of the Republic. They showed that if they had a fair fight, the Clone Wars would have shaped out completely different to what we saw and it was oddly exciting routing for them when they surrounded the TK Troopers and arrested them and faced off against Commander Cody’s squad.
I just wished there was a series dedicated to a Sepratist Rebellion or hell even a Rebel Cell that some Separatists joined so that we could see the full extent of their abilities. There was a fanfic I read a while back where droids made use of their independent brain functions after being salvaged after the battle of Naboo, and the OOM Unit was immiedietly much scarier having experienced fighting against an actual army as well as attempting to defend it's plan from jedi. It somewhat followed General Grievous's intended strategy of ruining the concentration of Jedi through fear, trickery, and overwhelming force all at once, as well as taking advantage of the Jedi's kindness, which is amazing in my opinion. The amount of tactical planning you could do with an army all fundamentally connected to each other SHOULD have been Code Geass levels with Lelouch planning, luring enemies into minefields, cones of overlapping fire, shooting through walls, etc
I belive "the senate" had limiters installed in the seperatist droids, so even if they had been through regular maintenance, they would still be clankers, maybe said limiters were deactivated during the shut-down order after order 66, so all the droids that was re-activated can work at their maximum performance (as long as they are maintained).
I remember b1 as terrifying. Quickly replacable, their slim construction, hard to hit, able to function nearly in all conditions, able to learn, cheap in production, and can be repiar with nearly any droid or not droid parts
i would love to see the chattyness of old and the efficiency of now in some episodes. i have the mental image of a clone and droid playing rock paper scissors to see who kills who in my head thanks to the clone wars. a really bored clone and a droid that wants to live a bit longer that threw the suggestion out in a last ditch attempt. they keep tieing and eventually agree to let one another live to meet back here to finish. (they do and keep having rematches as it is mutually beneficial to both parties as the droid is reprogrammed and now considered friendly to the other clones annoyance but that one clone considers him a friend at that point)
I think it might also be familiarity with their serroundings. From the looks of it, these droids have been there for a while. So the planet might not have been attacked before during the Clone Wars, so they had all the time to prep for an attack.
3:34 You could leave this droid alone in a padded room with two ball bearings for a few minutes, come back and find that one would be missing and the other broken.
I'm assuming that after Palpatine got what he wanted, all the sabotage systems to make the CIS lose at critical battles along with Grievous and Dooku, they were no longer needed. This freed the droid army to be utilized to their full potential by commanders not bound by Palpatine. This would be one of various major factor.
After the episode I had thought it would've been neat to see the new conscripts struggling to take the stronghold. The clones would have to be called in to deal with the problem.
Honestly, even though plot armor was in place, a very few clones have survived, and if it wouldn't be for Cody and Crosshair, the clone force would fail. Cody was fighting droids from the beginning of the Clone Wars, and Clone Force 99, which Crosshair once was a part of, was an elite unit which has presumably been through awful lot of suicidal missions and got a lot of experience as well. And even then, Cody and Crosshair had one hell of a hard time approaching the target and had to save each other. So I'd say if not those two working together, even plot armor wouldn't help the clones.
4:35 You can tell these guys haven't had much in the way of maintenance outside of keeping themselves functional, just look at the wear and tear on the Tactical Droid's paint and body. It's all scratched up, the paint's chipped and worn away, his shoulder looks like it's got a ton of dust, dirt, and grime on it. Even the binoculars are scratched and worn.
I love your channel. I’ve been visiting for a while now. I work in government circles and every now and again I come here to just get away from the work and enjoy videos about my favourite series. Thanks man.✌️💙
The tactical droid does instruct them with protocols, but the droids have also very likely recieved much needed updates - data that doesn't make their information collide as much as before. Add to that, I will guess they have experience or downloaded data so they know what NOT to do. The tactical droid also being a lot more aware and able to command properly instead of sacrificing entire armies like some of them did, is also a massive boost to performance and coordination. And as a commenter point out, the droids are basically veterans. They're experienced, they know what they need to do in order to achieve the best possible results. I can easily see a spin-off series of CIS remnants having rebuilt some forces and start committing to raiding whatever ships tehy can find, even Imperial ones, and before anyone can stop them, they've won the battle with minimal losses, their massively improved co-ordination and able to fight having won the day, they take what they need, then vanish. Or thsi can be full canon, but it ends at a cliffhanger. Say, the Empire manage to follow or search and find where the CIS remnant fleet and droids are taking everything they've stolen from ships across the galaxy, but as they arrive, the entire base is already being evacuated, and much as been, as they see ships go up into the atmosphere, away from the Imperial Fleet, which is on the opposite side of the planet, and even though the Empire win, a lot of the droids and CIS ships, and people, escape, and there's no way to track them reliably. In any case, I hope we get to see more droids in use, possibly on a world owned by the Empire, but in a state that allows the use of old CIS hardware to deal with ongoing problems - and maybe something like organics can't fight well in that place, like it's toxic or something, making the droid army remnants ideal to handle it all. Whatever lets us see more droids, and hopefully, something where they win due to actual skill and coordination.
Ngl, if I had acquired a force of B1s, I would have looked into armor upgrades, factory resets, improving the brains, probably using ghetto copies of the commando droids brains, and improving the battery packs
its wonderful to see the battledroids in a positive light for once, they're not terrorizing civilians or wasting their own allies' lives in careless suicidal attacks. They're calm, calculated, and doing their best to save the people they are in charge of protecting.
5:21 While smart I have to say they should have set up another B1 with a Heavy Blaster like the E-5C by the rock to the top left and the others probably could have spread out a bit more and taken some cover but otherwise they did pretty good here.
B1s in this EP were faced with the ideal combat scenarios, just not the ideal opponents. They took care of the inexeperienced TK troopers easily. They even do a pretty decent number on Cody's team. But Cody and Crosshair, and clones who have fought droids for years, are not the kind of opponent droids can easily deal with.
I think that making the droids better is a great idea when seeing how well they do. I do have a problem with the idea that the Republic only won because of Palpatine and Dooku manipulating the war because it makes me feel like the war was less appealing because it makes the Republic look super weak and the Separatists super strong. I like that Palpatine was the mastermind behind the war but I don't find it appealing to know that the droids would have won easily if it wasn't for Palpatine or plot armor. idk. just my thoughts.
Part of me wonders if the Republic for the first two years of the war kind of fought like the Rebellion. Smaller forces needing to utilize hit and run tactics to weaken the Droid Army and Navy overtime.
@@tristankawatsuma8962 yeah. I think the Republic knew about their immediate disadvantage and just tried to fight in a more guerrilla style earlier on before getting the confidence to go more all out.
@@Brosowski I have to wonder which planetary defense forces won completely on their own. Sure, many of them lost like on Ryloth and Christophsis, but maybe some eon without the help of the clones and the Jedi.
@@tristankawatsuma8962 And in Legends, later in the war, the help that the clones gave was mostly training. A team of clones would come in, teach the locals how to shoot a blaster, work as a team, make good plans, and cope with those plans falling apart (or teach them how to do these things better than they could before), then go to the next planet and do the same.
I wonder what would be discussed today since I too thought Episode 4 of the Bad Batch was kind of boring, I mean it was nice for Tech to get more focus since he's the Bad Batch member with the least amount of it, because Hunter, Omega, Wrecker, and Crosshair all got some decent stuff in season 1 and even though Echo didn't get that much in season 1 he had prior Clone Wars stories that had already given him focus, plus he got stuff in Episodes 1 and 2 of the new season, but still not as interesting as the last three episodes. So I'm glad you talked more about what was going on in Episode 3. However, there are some things I'd like to add. 5:11-5:25: I wouldn't exactly call the Droids smart hear. Sure it was good to have only one go in, in case there was a trap, but they checked things out for like a few seconds before declaring all the Clones dead, they really should have done a more thorough search for at least a few minutes instead of just peaking inside for like 5 seconds, that ended up hurting them because the Clones killed them right after and then took advantage of the element of surprise they had because the Droids already reported them as dead. 9:17-9:24: Now to be fair, while the Drodeka is impressive it's hard for it to be truly scary and a massive threat because with its shield up it's very slow and one can easily outmaneuver it, and if it drops the shield to roll then it's exposed and easily able to be hit. The Commandos on the other hand are a lot more impressive and scary, especially in their first episode Rookies. And while they did lose some scariness as the seasons went on because the Clones and Jedi got better at handling them because they adapted to them, the Droids were still a good and decent threat. One of my favorite scenes is when the Jedi and Clone strike team fights those Commandos in that corridor during the Citadel Arc. The Commandos perform well there, despite losing, they jumped around and took advantage of their acrobatic skills to dodge both Clone and their own Lightsaber reflected fire to get in close and try to overwhelm their foes with close-quarters combat. One of them even head butts Obi-Wan, the Commando that had the guts to do that is a Chad in my book.
I mean I'll be honest; I love the clones and the Republic but this episode really gave off the "Oh man I love clones but they're the bad guys now" I felt Cody there.
TBF, I think this is a demonstration of the sheer military capability of both sides when the proverbial 'leash' has been taken off. The Droids are scarily competent, successfully utilize terrain and their numbers to leverage the conflict in their favour, while the Clones show that experience and individual skill, alongside skilled teamwork, allowed them to fight through the incredibly difficult open and urban terrain where most armies in Star Wars would have massively struggled.
Great video, thanks, the only thing you forgot to mention was that the governor of Desix wanted to win, while Palpatine never wanted the Separatists to win. No doubt proper maintenance and proper military tactics where a big help, but I feel it helps a lot when the leader was fighting to actually win also made real difference, and I agree against any other unit of clones without plot armour or against stormtroopers, then the droids would have won easily.
Performing maintenance on the droids is probably a factor, but another factor is that the tactical droid has had all the experience from the clone wars. What made them terrifying wasn't their intelligence and strategic planning. It's the fact that after enough accumulated experience, they actually started getting good at coming up with strategies. Even the more average tactical droids instead of the super tactical droids were becoming better tacticians towards the end of the clone wars and could actually give the republic a challenge
A droid army should be hugely effective with shared sensor data and near instant commands. Also those "soldiers" don't fear for their own live and hense would be impossible to suppress if they don't want you to.
Remember.
The CIS was never meant to win. Just fight till Palpatine wins.
I mean he wins either way from both sides.
Any time the CIS started winning enough that they could actually achieve total victory, Sidious would throttle them back or sabotage them.

@@watch50er I see you are man of culture as well
They could of the whole time.
If there’s more battles between the Empire and Seperatist Holdouts, then we’ll get to see more examples of battle droid tactical brilliance.
On god...

Wasn’t the Empire have rule that the stormtrooper cannot chatter during job
They also weren't held back by poor Jedi leadership.
Budget.
It's more close to traditional cannon too which makes it actually really nice to see.
Given that these Battle Droids were reprogrammed, it would not be outside the realm of possibility that these droids got restored to their factory settings and were given a fresh set of programming that did not ask too much of the individual droids’ capabilities.
100% otherwise they would get the shutdown signal and just go down. Reprogrammed to actually just do soldiering
@@StoriesByDighe I beg to differ. We've actually seen cases of droids refusing the droid shutdown signal before. So I believe more that droids denying the shutdown signal instead wipes out a part of their programming that causes the droid incompetence.
But the geonosis droids were new droids
And it's redeployment, how quickly it disengaged and rolled down the stairs only to deploy again gave the clones almost no time to rest
The droidekas came off as surprisingly agile and aggressive.
And theres also the lesser known Ultra battle droids...
They have stronger firepower than droidekas...
I'm glad they went back to their episode 1 depiction. They were a joke in TCW. Droid poppers, tanks, and rockets were always around to counter them in that show. They never allowed them to shine against standard infantry.
I was rooting for the droids in this episode even tho I knew they wouldn’t win because the empire had the main characters😂

At the very least, a more moral Dooku would have a lot more trouble rallying support from the corporate sector, which at that point was the only authority even capable of opposing the Jedi and the broader Republic
(Edit: I'm dumb, just realized how easy it would have been for him to just lie to the CIS- since that's what he was doing for the whole of the Clone Wars anyway- and then just backstab them and reform the operation without their corrupting influence.)
In some way the remaining droids were veterans as much as the clones, evolving and developing personality and intelligence.
The more they fought the more they learned and won
Kinda like the droids from rebels
I'm pretty sure that droids in Star Wars always had personality and intelligence. In the films as well, from AotC onward, the droids are clearly sentient, just stupid.

I love how this episode showed what the clone wars would have been like without jedi
The droids are a competent fighting force against clones and the clones take heavy losses also the clones don't just charge the enemy like the jedi would so often do they stick to cover and take the droids out slowly
We already know how that's gonna go down
Only for the very senate they were fighting was reinstalled
You talking this made me think
They should make an episode of droids and clones vs clones and imperial soldiers
From Trenches to Wrenches.
Perhaps the story of what happened to the Super Tactical Droid that escaped the Empire with its droid forces in Star Wars: Rebels. I would also love to see an episode centered around a re-activated team of commando droids stealthily eliminating an Imperial outpost.
Imagine seeing that in the Clone Wars, had it gone on a little longer.
I always fanficed that if the clone wars lasted longer than 4 years, there would be more interesting moments in galactic history especially with moments like this where the droids be used almost similar to the clones in tactics as well as use their basic advantage of numbers
Hay ive seen you on Venomgeekmedia
It's more right to say that this is a small glimpse of what the Clone Wars would have been without Palpatine's tampering.
The Droid army was never meant to win against the Republic. The droid army was, without a doubt, much better than the clone army, and it was often sabotaged from the inside by Palpatine on purpose to keep the war going.
To see more of our clone brotheren die? Nah. We've seen enough
I was surprised to see the droids perform well here, and it was certainly great. I think the reason why the droids are used so much better now is because they cannot be easily produced, meaning that even these cheap units needed to be used intelligently.
I love that
Also, this senator wasn't an arrogant penny pinching warmonger.
Couldn’t have said it better.
thnk part of it is that they were lead by incompetents for the most part, save for terrors like General grievous.
Is no going to mention the wholesome scene where the battle droids high-fived each other?
I think I heard somewhere that tactical droids were incredibly dangerous after the clone wars cause they learn more from each battle they been in and the survivors are the more veteran tactical droids. Which is probably why this tactical droid wasn’t arrogant like the others
I think that part of the reason that the Droids fought better is the NEED to perform better
The separatists didn't have an almost infinite supply of droids anymore, so the strategies needed to be better so that you don't lose many droids
I think we left out the most important part . . . theres no Jedi to break the laws of physics and also no Jedi with plot armor.
Obi-Wan would’ve been proud of the droids’ usage of the high ground
@@ben501stWell probably as the war ranged on the droids were more dumbdown to lessen the cost.
@@ben501stthey probably have a lot of files downloaded into them when they get added to an existing force so as to be "caught" up on tactics, situation etc which likely causes them to break down

The flanderisation of the droids (And to some degree Dooku) in TCW, and storm troopers in Rebels is one of my largest peeves in both.
I always found the commando droids to be intimidating and scary at times, glad that kept it up here
I liked seeing the droidekas actually being terrifying and effective. Roll, kill, roll, kill

I want to see an episode where the empire fails so horribly against a holdout they have to resort to using an ISD to bombard them to win.
Only for shield generator to flip a bird to that bombardment
Really cool, watching two sides doing there best makes for a really exiting episode.
The CIS has always been my favorite faction and I loved seeing the droids portrayed as a competent fighting force. Don´t get me wrong I love the goofy droid moments but my heart was yearning for a scene like this one. Honestly the droid army would´ve prevailed if Palpatine hadn´t been pulling the strings all along.
another factor is the clones no longer have jedi commanders to help with extra intel or deal with the more advanced droids like droidikas or commandos
also mentioned in the episode was droids would have been reprogrammed after the shut off order, so they'd be factory reset on memory, thus having empty RAM, as was said
It might also be of note that there aren't all that many droids on Desix.
S2E3 was by far my favorite of the series so far
The amount of tactical planning you could do with an army all fundamentally connected to each other SHOULD have been Code Geass levels with Lelouch planning, luring enemies into minefields, cones of overlapping fire, shooting through walls, etc
the rolling sound of droidekas was such a huge psychological warfere against the clones, you hear it but dont know where the rolling doom appear
The lore explanation is great, but deep down we all know they performed better because there was less plot armor.
Since they aren’t the main antagonist, they don’t have to be ridiculously incompetent
i love the comando droids, their movements are humanlike, but way too fast to be actually human. It's super cool.

Ep 3 definitely the best so far. Loved it

i would love to see the chattyness of old and the efficiency of now in some episodes.
i have the mental image of a clone and droid playing rock paper scissors to see who kills who in my head thanks to the clone wars. a really bored clone and a droid that wants to live a bit longer that threw the suggestion out in a last ditch attempt. they keep tieing and eventually agree to let one another live to meet back here to finish.
I would argue that OOM-9s conquest of Naboo is also an example of good CIS tactics, even if it is prior to the war.
I enjoyed the battle droids! I mean the clones are are awesome as well but robot soldiers just is so cool!
That BX Commando dodge all of Cody’s shots was wicked
Basically when droids work, they work really well
i wonder if another part of that was the organic leader not overruling the tactical droid and the droids being 'veteran' units them selves.
3:34 You could leave this droid alone in a padded room with two ball bearings for a few minutes, come back and find that one would be missing and the other broken.
It's a shame, if they had a super tactical droid or just multiple tactical droids they might have recognised the pattern of an enhanced clone force.
I really want to see the battledroids win in several battles, like in the Clone Wars, we rarely or never see a CIS victory, as far as I can remember.
Honestly I would love to see an episode where a bunch of droids just take down a clone force
After the episode I had thought it would've been neat to see the new conscripts struggling to take the stronghold. The clones would have to be called in to deal with the problem.
Great vid, Geets. I'm still reminded of that B-1 bazooka gunner and snipers from the micro series. Sith, those were cool moments.
When I learned about this loss from the Droids just now, I flipped my shit. They did everything right for it to not matter.
The whole "droids' rights" thing makes me roll my eyes. Other than that, solid video.
I love your channel. I’ve been visiting for a while now. I work in government circles and every now and again I come here to just get away from the work and enjoy videos about my favourite series. Thanks man.✌️💙
Watching this felt like watching a clone wars episode until we were hit back with the fact that this is imperial times
The battle on Toydaria, was mainly won by Yoda's Battle Meditation, a rare force talent possessed by people like Naga Sadow abd Bassila
I think this shows how also the clones themselves have gotten rusty making mistakes.
So far this is my favorite episode. I loved how we got to see republic small squad tactics.
Ngl, if I had acquired a force of B1s, I would have looked into armor upgrades, factory resets, improving the brains, probably using ghetto copies of the commando droids brains, and improving the battery packs
I think this is the first time I’ve seen Flamethrowers used against Battle Droids.
i love that even their body language is way different than the clone wars with how they move and their stance while they were operating
I would love to see more separate holdouts
The few i know of start and end the same as this bad batch episode.
its wonderful to see the battledroids in a positive light for once, they're not terrorizing civilians or wasting their own allies' lives in careless suicidal attacks. They're calm, calculated, and doing their best to save the people they are in charge of protecting.
geetsly: the clones plot armor
the senet:...
Our tactics have more precision when our units are well kept
those commando droids dodged point blank shots in narrow stairwell very cool
Mad respect for the youtubers putting spoiler warnings in their videos
5:21 While smart I have to say they should have set up another B1 with a Heavy Blaster like the E-5C by the rock to the top left and the others probably could have spread out a bit more and taken some cover but otherwise they did pretty good here.
B1s in this EP were faced with the ideal combat scenarios, just not the ideal opponents. They took care of the inexeperienced TK troopers easily. They even do a pretty decent number on Cody's team. But Cody and Crosshair, and clones who have fought droids for years, are not the kind of opponent droids can easily deal with.
ROGER ROGER!!
I loved to see them work well for once
Good analysis of a great episode.
I loved seeing the droids doing so well! DARN YOU PLOT ARMOR 😠
Loved S2Ep3, sadly plot armor carried it but seeing 2 days of crosshairs life was awesome
A droid army should be hugely effective with shared sensor data and near instant commands. Also those "soldiers" don't fear for their own live and hense would be impossible to suppress if they don't want you to.
