I also used to live 20 minutes away from Hamilton (same general direction as Kat’s parents place) and thought of it as the armpit as well...until I had to move there in 2014 because I couldn’t afford rent in my hometown. Where she is talking about is definitely at the north end of the city. Likely near the lake. I’m not 100% sure but it’s not far from many of the piers and the steel plants. Now what specific building, I cannot say, but until recently that area she is describing was not exactly safe for any 21 year old to go wandering into alone.
