Great video! I have 2 ways I deal with unsupportive people. 1. Don't tell them anything and move in silence. We are sometimes so eager to share that we make ourselves a target for negativity. 2. Cut them out of your life completely. Having consistently unsupportive and hyper-negative people around you can stunt your growth and have you second guessing your goals and achievements. Some of them will even seek to undermine you because they do not like the fact that you are doing well. It isn't healthy and sometimes it's best to let those people go so better, more supportive people can come in. I have learned these lessons the hard way and I no longer tolerate unsupportive people in my life. I am perfectly fine with constructive and helpful criticism, but not unsupportive, undermining behavior. Life is much better now that I have made that change.
Sometimes they simply act like they don’t see your accomplishments when you announce it or they are very dull and not as excited as they are for themselves or others
I was so relieved to hear you describe my circumstance because I thought I was confusing myself.I relate my goals to this particular person and was told I’m “doing too much” then later was asked “what is your next move?” I’m advancing in the esthetic field which I’ve been in for about 5 years. This is a field I’m happy to be in and I’m now able to offer more services.I could understand if financially I couldn’t handle it or if I was making some abrupt changes without the knowledge, time or proper resources but this is not case. This same person would undermine my goals but then ask me for fashion and make up advice. Not only is she unsupportive but just using me when she wants to.
Well just to reassure you...you're not doing too much :) - you're doing what's best for you and sometimes that's hard for people to wrap their heads around. It's so important to have supportive people around you, and it's totally okay for them to ask "what's your plan" but it's not okay for them to insert condescending or demeaning energy into your goals.
We should network I’m licensed in permanent cosmetic tattooing and it’s been successful. Now I’m entering the esthetic field and get the same pushback I did when started my PMU business. Being the first business minded person in my family and group of friends is hard especially when they aren’t supportive from day one.
Positivity in my opinion isn’t about pretending everything is okay (that’s toxic) but recognizing that the present is in the works and believing that everything will eventually be okay. I don’t personally see that as a toxic mindset.
People offering advice towards your goals is not consider supportive in my case. In fact, all of them have horrible advice in regards to my goals because they don't know much about the path that I am trying to take unless it's college base careers or something scammy like that that don't make me millions of dollars one day. If I want someone to support my goals, I expect them to want to help me get to the top by buying my merchandise, instead of giving me wack advice that actually takes longer such as get a 9 to 5.
It's really unfortunate that sometimes our close family and friends can't see our vision. But the beauty of advice is that we can hear but we don't need to take it because it isn't always the best solution! Hopefully they come around to your vision someday!

I completely agree with you! Constructive criticism is welcome because we all have blind spots - but I’m over the unsupportive people too ✌🏾

Absolutely! It’s probably because they have a hard time celebrating themselves so they can’t be happy for you.

What about toxic positivity?
