Let me explain: In the negative cycle of input voltage,both voltage ( V batt + V inp ) r in support of making diode frwrd bias however, ur output voltage only shows the voltage drop across frwd bias( across which voltage drop is 0 ,as behaving as conducting wire) and V battery . Therefore his ans is V battery in the negative half
