I read this quote once: "Reading is inhaling, Writing is exhaling" I love this quote.

I'm relatively new to writing, but I'm not a big reader but I have been trying to figure out how to improve my stories. I read the simplest quote today. To write, you must read. I realise now how obvious that is. And you are right for calling me on my bullshit 😂. Thank you for the tips I am going to find books in the genre I am working on and go from there.

    The movie analogy is great.
People always tell you the same thing over and over "you have to read more" and by common sense I also know I have to read more. But for the sake of understanding no one really makes you understand better WHY you have to read. I just can't put myself to read some fiction books. I know I want to write fiction, I know I have to read fiction, and I know that I am a reader, but a reader of articles and technical knowledge, not fiction. I love fiction through tv shows, video games and movies.
I've been consuming and analizing those "products" long before I realised that I liked worldbuilding, character creation, storytelling, etc. May seem as one silly little detail, but your analogy made me realise why I have to read.
Like...one small piece from a puzzle that all of a sudden makes everything "click"

You know, you made me feel less alone with your post in this creative yet painstaking endeavor. I had also felt same about reading novels and fiction. And when advised, people told me to read because without it I ain't going nowhere. Especially if I wanted to write fiction.
But I have always thought like where should I start, what should I read and how do I analyze, if all they say is to be a stiff peruser if you desire to become a writer. And just like you, I had read and am still reading a lot of articles, websites and mechanical aspects of fiction like " how to". Guess what, I'm stuck and haven't made an inch of progress by now.
The film analogy is where I got the urge to write. You said it happened to you because of Continuous consumption of products like that. In my case it all started with animes, especially with Naruto. I was so intrigued by the beautiful, painful and deep characterization of guys like Itachi and kakashi that I almost felt strange emotional waves, when I look back at them . I felt a hammer in my heart. I felt like how could the writer create such hypnotizing characters and how was it possible to create such charming and effective worlds and details.
It was then , I decided that I wanna do one. I want to write one, too.
And that's how it started. Although she was true that the books should be read and analyzed if we want to excel.

Creative writing is the art of making things up. It is a way we can convey our personal experience or fictional experience into an entertaining and aesthetically pleasing art. For the most part, creative writing can be considered any writing that is original and self-expressive. To learn more about creative writing, visit www.henryharvin.com/creative-writing-course

I really enjoyed this! I've definitely been doing #1 Reading and part of #2 Analyzing, and then doing my best at #3 Applying. #2 is one I find so interesting but so hard to find the time for. I have actually reread the books that really rock my socks, slowly and carefully, highlighting the good bits. But I haven't tried plotting out the entire novel. I'd love to see a screenshot of what that example looked like at 5:20, so I can see all the elements you worked into that chart. You broke it down by chapter right?
    Thanks for sharing!

I'm thinking of writing novel, but i don't know how to. I do poetry and stuff but writing novel feels overwhelming. I don't know if I have it in me to keep going with a novel. Writing long consistent stuff with a storyline doesn't come as naturally as writing poems to me. I seriously do not know how to write 😭. Do you have any tips for me? Any tutorial / courses that teaches how to write? Thank you.

You want to be a writer and you're afraid of words? Words have no inherent power or meaning, relax. If you self censor yourself already maybe consider other hobbies
