Its a sad story but I also love it. I dont know if I sound sefish (probaby do) but I kinda don't want the children to leave or be set free yet. I want more games and more story lines and everything. This series was my childhood and I'm not ready for it to end yet. I want the souls to eventually be set free and all, but I just don't want the game to go just yet. I just need like 2 more games for me to have closure(maybe)

The true ending of this game always gives me chills. All of this was built up and Scott gave a great conclusion. And, this is really the final game in the William Afton line, I dont really count ucn

Some theories and things that people are missing:
1) Springtrap is William Afton. This has been pretty well known for a while; but if you need proof, just look at the credits of this game. There are three animatronics that speak during this game: Baby, Freddy, and Springtrap; and they are the first three listed in the credits. The voice of "William Afton" is listed among these three, and the voice of Springtrap is conspicuously missing.
2) Cassette Guy is talking to/about two different girls. When he cuts off Elizabeth, he's speaking to her as someone he knows: Elizabeth Afton. Then, he says "and to my daughter," as to indicate that now he's talking to someone else entirely. During this time, the screen is showing many of the minigames involving the Puppet, and the "Give Cake" minigame during which time we see the death of Purple Guy's first victim at Fredbear Diner (as identified by MatPat). So we know this victim to be Cassette Guy's daughter, who now inhabits the Puppet. He identifies her as compassionate and caring, which matches what we know of the Puppet: throughout series, the Puppet has tried to save the other victims; or, failing that, give them new life (see the "Give Gifts, Give Life" minigame).
3) Cassette Guy is Henry. We know Henry had a daughter, that he created Baby, and felt guilty about his participation in the creation of these animatronics. As far as motivation goes, Henry's guilt matches perfectly with the Cassette Guy's apparent motivations, and the voiceover during the Good Ending indicates "atoning for past mistakes." (I know that Henry presumably committed suicide/was killed by Baby. I don't have a good answer for that criticism beyond "we see him bleeding out, we don't see him die"). This also supports point #1 further, as during the Good Ending voiceover, Henry indicates that peace awaits the trapped animatronics, except one, who will burn in Hell. He refers to this animatronic as "old friend." He's talking to Springtrap, a.k.a. William: his former business-partner-turned-psychopathic-murderer.
4) The protagonist of this game is once again Michael Afton. This matches with Henry's seeming admiration of the protagonist, indicating that you are "brave," and that while the position wasn't meant for you, and that there is a way to survive, that you are "probably exactly where you want to be." The matches what we know of Michael's motivation (as defined by MatPath's theories) in that he has been trying to undo the evils of his father, William. We know from the end of FNAF3 that Michael has been looking for his father, and the opening of a new Fazbear Pizza would definitely draw his attention. However, he wouldn't run from Henry burning down the new pizzeria. Firstly, he's been reunited with his family, for better or worse. Secondly, he himself has become an abomination in his effort to erase the horrors of William, and would probably be just fine with ending the Afton family, once and for all.
5) Michael doesn't know that his father William is Springtrap. And how could he? The death of Purple Guy as depicted in FNAF2 happens in the secret room at the original Fazbear Pizza location, which we know was immediately sealed following that incident with the Springtrap suit and body left inside, and would later be discovered by FNAF3's Phone Guy when searching for Fazbear relics to include in the Fazbear Fright attraction. At the end of Sister Location, Michael claims that he's "coming to find [William]." This doesn't carry the context of he's "coming to get him," but rather that he's literally looking for him. All that Michael knows is that his father is missing, nothing more. Which explains why, during FNAF6, Springtrap can be heard saying, "You may not recognize me at first, but I assure you, it's still me."
6) FNAF6 being a Pizzaria Simulator makes perfect sense with Michael Afton as the protagonist. Not only does it fit with Cassette Guy's narrative, but FNAF3 ends with all of the possessed animatronics presumably destroyed in the fire at Fazbear Fright. It would follow that Michael would then want to create Fazbear Pizza as it was meant to be: a happy, fun, safe place for children: hence, the sim aspect of FNAF6.

I think MatPat is pretty much 90% on with his Final FNAF theory. This list is just some thoughts I had watching Markiplier's playthrough of FNAF6. Some of it is just a rehash of MatPat's theories (mostly the part about William Afton being Springtrap....I don't know why people are still arguing about that, it's blatantly obvious at this point). 2-6 are my own thoughts regarding FNAF6, but they're based heavily on MatPat's previous FNAF theories.

We just had a big lore bomb dropped on us. William Afton is "burning in the Darkest Pits of Hell," the building is burned down, Henry's daughter became the Marionette, the whole restaurant was a trap, Henry knows of Micheal Afton's fate, and the player doesn't even survive.

35:30 seeing Charlotte's grave in the back with all the butterflies around it always makes me tear up - her grave is slightly elevated over all the others, on a hill behind them, showing how even at rest she still 'watches over' all the others she took care of as the puppet. not to mention, in a lot of cultures butterflies symbolize people's souls (that's why a lot of people believe that when butterflies follow/land on them it's a passed relative letting them know they're being watched over), which means the butterflies flying around her grave could very well represent the other children thanking and/or feeling safe around her because of the things she did for them. whether it was done with that intent or not, still makes me cry.
What’s also cool is that in the original novel trilogy where Charlotte first appeared in name (I doubt the original intention was for the kid in the Take Cake minigame in FNaF 2 to be the protagonist of the books) her grave is specified as being on a hill under a tree

The kid that appears in the puppet minigame is the kid that was abducted in a minigame in a past fnaf game( i think its fnaf 2 but im not sure)they killed him and left his corpse in the street.puppet was supposed to prorect him,but because of the kids putting that box,he couldn't even get out.When he managed to get out,he went outside of the building looking for the kid he had to protect,but it was too late,he had failed to do the only thing he had to do,so he hugged the corpse of the kid hoping that would do something,but it didn't.(or maybe it did,maybe that's the reason that made her be the puppet,but thats just a theory*a GAME theory*)

So here’s what I understand.
Elizabeth: The Afton Daughter. Attacked by baby by pure accident due to baby’s programming, ice cream and claw.
Springtrap: Micheal Afton. The one who was caught by the ghosts who probably learned that his fathers robots were alive and (understandably) destroyed them however killed him self by accident with the whole ghost and springlock thing.

It's only confusing because not every lead links up exactly but we know the general plot now as well as the order
We now know that Fnaf 6 is the ending of the story with the fake pizzeria being used to lure in the animatronics, followed by the epilogue of FNAF Ultimate Custom Night.
Fnaf 2 takes place prior to fnaf 1 with the toy animatronics being dropped and replaced with the classics (after Mangle's incident) which got fixed for Fnaf 1.
We can assume that FNAF 4 takes place early on. Sister Location is also likely before Fnaf 3 with Michael escaping (alongside Ennard and Baby) and burning down the fnaf3 location to try and kill William. My thinking is that Mike went to Fnaf 2 and 1 locations as well before the 3rd game. I think the order goes something FNAF4 > FNAF SL > FNAF2 > FNAF 1 > FNAF3 > FNAF6 > UCN
