Didn't even know polyester fishing line existed until I started watching your videos and joined the TackleTour forums. On a related note, I own and have built many camping hammocks and a polyester hammock has a very different feel than a nylon one, due to the difference in stretch. Thanks for all the info you share. -Knotty
good stuff ! but how do u manage when ur line snag? i tried UL before and lost too many jig/lure due to snag.. and do u really need to tie leader if ur using ester line?
ryan goh thanks for watching. Getting hung up is just part of it. Ester has zero stretch.....you can catch fish without a leader but you will break off quite a few without a shock leader.
TroutMagnetMan reason why i dont wanna tie leader cos of snag.. everytime when i broke my line, gonna re-tie my leader which will take some time..do u re tie ur leader if u broke them while ur fishing?
what about the fastest/easiest knot u tie? u mention about using the same lb leader as ur main line? cant use FG knot, too thick to run thru the micro guide.. im using the yucatan
Gary Langford thanks for watching. I have not used the FG knot. Due to older....fumble fingers....LOL......I use a triple overhand granny knot. It is very easy to tie. Now.....they’re better knots to use for tying a leader but it is super simple. Plus I have tested the ester line with that knot on my Bouz Drag Checker and it breaks at the 2 pound mark every time.....so it is almost 100 percent of the 2.1# test rating of the ester. I have been using about 2 feet of leader but am thinking of going to 3 feet or so. I absolutely love this line but it does require a lower drag setting than nylon mono of same pound rating.
Thanks, I'll try a 3' leader. I want to try out the Palms Egeria out on some 15" - 20" stocker trout next week. I set my drag to 9 oz. for the 2.3# line. You are right that thin line is tough to tie.
TroutMagnetMan No problem. I'm in the same boat. How would you think this line would do for BFS? I currently run 2lb Nanofil with a 4lb FC leader. It's been holding up well.
Hobie-Wan Kenobi that’s tough to answer. I haven’t used a bait caster for about 10 years now....since I went UL. I used NanoFil for 18 months consecutive when it came out.....throwing 1/64 ounce jigs with 2# test...loved it but now I use it occasionally. The “ester” lines can be a problem due to the stiffness....yet it casts great. The line is super slick....and I have to say it is the most sensitive line I’ve ever seen. There are some other companies that have made ester line with bamboo to do away with line problems. I’ll be trying them out in the near future. All I can say now is fishing with this line takes the fun level to a new high. I would think it wouldn’t be any worse than FC line on a bait caster. I’ll be updating info of the line as the weeks go on.

ryan goh I use the easiest knot for me....the 3 turn surgeons knot.
ryan goh I do retie and yes it is bothersome but it is worth it at the end of the day.
I just got some of this line. Are you using an FG knot to attach the shock leader? Also, how long of a leader do you use?
