But then she made the musical very big in London. She knows comedy that’s why they pushed her, I think she did really well as Elle. Her voice was amazing, how she did Elle was in her own way.
She certainly didn't look to old on stage and she saved the show. Laura Bell Bundy is not a comedian and casting someone similar would've seen the show flop in the Wesr End, as it did on Broadway. They realised that the comedy element was missing and specifically pushed Sheridan Smith in that direction - it was a huge, huge hit in London because of her.
I love her facial expressions and the way she does this one.
