    The growth of your corals looks great. The coloration is equally as good Deven! Tank looks amazing..

    Great Video! And can I say, I'm jealous of that blue Tort color! Mine is a bit brown still. I'm raising my par weekly, looking for that nice color.

    Tank is really looking great Deven! I love the red branching acro opposite the hammers - very dramatic.

      Thank you! I’m really happy with how it’s filling in. Only problem is now it’s going to turn I to a bonsai game to keep stuff form growing into the glass!

    My pink gorgonian from Biota likes a ton of flow and grows significantly faster with strong flow. Better color under high light too. Survives in lower flow though…

    Good video and great topic.
    I'd say coral placement is the single most complicated topic in the entire hobby, given so little good information is available on it.
    And what we usually lack, is knowledge on the specific coral species growth form. Take just Acropora: If I say hyacinthus, tortuosa, millepora, yungi, efflorescens, & valida...
    All of those are very common Acro species in the hobby. But how many can quickly describe the growth form of each?
    It's that insight which most describes where they should be placed. Then it gets way more complicated when we bring in other coral families. Montipora, Goniopora, Seriatopora... It just goes, and goes as a pit of unknowns for new reefers.

      This would also prevent (me) buying acro corals what end up in the tank coloring up the same haha.

    This looks beautiful. About how much space do you have between the side glass panels and the original rock? I am considering setting up flow with two lower powered powerheads placed like you have your mp60s here for my 3 ft peninsula tank.

    • @ReefDudes
      @ReefDudes  ปีที่แล้ว

      The coral is eating up most of the space on the stair side! More space the better for future growth

    Tank looks great. What camera/filter are you using to record the tank?

    • @ReefDudes
      @ReefDudes  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sony a5100 is what i use most of the time. No filter Just white balance

  • @TheHelicapt
    @TheHelicapt 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I also have a peninsula tank and I struggle with finding the right balance of flow and not enough flow to keep the sand detris free. I have a lps tank so the dfkow can’t be to heavy.
    I noticed in your tank the sand is a bit dirty in spots, do you also have an issue with flow over the sand bed not being enough?

  • @ozzman31982
    @ozzman31982 ปีที่แล้ว

    You can 3d print a 3 inch strip, that wraps around your overflow to clip or lightly glue whenever the rainbow grows on it heavily remove it , throw on another, then you can break the old one up into frags

    • @ReefDudes
      @ReefDudes  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I did lower it an inch or so. Plus prototyping some light shades. Main goal was killing any spill light for my tiny human. :)

  • @FragSpawnLLC
    @FragSpawnLLC ปีที่แล้ว

    are those 3d printed light blocks to help room spill? just added 6 XR30 G6, Wifey not happy at the light spill at 8" above tank. Not a penninsula like your tank, but an Island tank.
    Should I lower or block room spill ?
    If those are light spill shades, are they something I could purchase from you

    • @ReefDudes
      @ReefDudes  ปีที่แล้ว

      They sure are. I have been prototyping different designs. Almsot there! Lowering the lights is an easy fix if you can. Otherwise shades are a good way to go. Mine are hopefully almsot ready for prime time

    • @FragSpawnLLC
      @FragSpawnLLC ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ReefDudes What is the lowest you'd go to shade the light spill ? Im running your AB+ special modified and looks like the schedule max's out at 50% intensity, is that correct ? Thoughts on the lowest you'd go ? my tank is custom 28" deep.

    I got one question to ask you it's about SPS corals say your tank is running perfect all the chemistry is right on target have you ever got corals from a friend and no matter how perfect is your tank is and all your corals are doing fine but the ones you get from your friend keep dying what do you think could be the issue but you can get corals from anybody else and they'll do just fine only his are dying in your tank and yet his tank is perfect too these are not bad or sick out of this tank
