Ran lots of freshwater tanks years ago, I'm doing research on getting a nano reef going. Great info in here thank you so much for sharing. You are very knowledgeable and explain things in a way that's easy to understand. Cheers.
I think those Lifegard aquariums were at Niagara. If they were not Lifegard there was a booth that had aquariums with this same 45 Degree cut corner. They were very nice looking tanks.
You mentioned skimmer lowering salinity since it can removes saltwater and ATO adds RODI. Would this affect be balanced out if dosing kalk which can raise salinity longterm? Maybe this is true for larger tanks? Thoughts?
I love this nano tank very much. I want to restart my own nano and copy your tank. I would like to know how you fight against Algee. Thanks from Germany
Yes yes yes! In my quarantine tank, i have no ATO on it and i manually add fresh water every morning and evening. On the weekends, every time i check up on the fish, i'll add a bit of water. Same would apply to the main display.
Awesome info, been thinking about starting a 20 nano. Love the simplicity of it. Question for you on quarantining and diseases. Recently got a coral beauty have them in quarantine with the green wrasse. They’ve been in for a little over four weeks, three weeks ago Coral beauty developed a whitish spot ,discoloration over eye, have done three treatments with Prazipro five days apart no results. Thinking it might be HLLE, Do you know if this would be contagious to other fish and is there any treatment for this? Also contemplating putting the wrasse In the main display or should I wait till Coral beauty is healed?
I just upgraded to a Lifegard 24 gallon all in one from a cheap walmart 10 gallon. beautiful tank. I'm new to reefing so can't say how good overall. My one complaint is that the included pump is either overpowered or the overflow grate is too small to keep pace. I had to install a valve on the return hose to dial the flow back more than the pump allowed.
Great video and info. Since the nano calcium reactor was mentioned I was looking at it. But I have searched and haven’t found any way of how to run water from the tank to the reactor and back. If anyone has a suggestion would love to know. Not much info on running a dosing pump on the calcium reactor for that purpose. Purchasing the big Kamoer pump is the only option I’ve seen till now. Thnx.
elvis fernandes you could also use a power head or any small water pump and limit the flow via a valve. Kamoer is one of the better choice but not the cheapest option
Yes I will do I’ve been testing for the past 2 weeks to make sure everything is stable and it is the accropora and milipora look fantastic today but I will for sure monitor the parameters thanks for replying and keep up the good videos
@@awaitingforever I have had them in the past.. they can be punks and steal food from corals. (allthough my fire shrimp do that now) in the nano i also have sexy shrimp, and a pom pom crab In the big tank i have an orange leg red leg and a Halloween hermit crab as well.
For now I just do a 20% weekly water change for now but I feel like I’ve reached the point where coralline is starting to grow and I’ve gotten way more corals and anemones growing I think I may start dosing all for reef but I feel like I need to set the money aside to buy good precise test kits so I know for sure how much my numbers jump after dosing a certain amount of the all for reef I would rather deal with my limited coral growth for a lil while longer than try to start dosing without precise testing and end up killin some of my coral I have several animals and anemones that are irreplaceable so I don’t wanna get out of hand and mess something up that jus doesn’t make sense and I don’t trust jus going by the api alkalinity test it’s murky u get diff results half the time on it could be off by up to 1 dkh either direction and u have to guesstimate the results also going to change lights I think that’s holding me back more than the parameters are my led is 3yrs old and it’s jus not as intense and certain diodes have dimmed more than others and the spectrum is jus not the same to the naked eye it looks awesome but I jus think it’s time to upgrade to a better light then I’ll probably definitely need to dose haha
Devin can you please make a video of par readings on your tank i have the same set up and have mines at 16 uv v b rb and 6 red green and white please help im looking to grow lps and softies!!!! Thank you !!!
Anything under 10 is considered pico. Love pick tanks. I'm more successful with those than nano or larger. Just built a 5.4 gallon with lifegard aquatics Crystal clear aquarium and only use aqamai kps for circulation and AI Prime HD for equipment. That's it. Water changes weekly. I do 2 sixty percent or more water changes simultaneously. My 3 gallon cracked sadly so got the 5.4g.
Too bad the one cracked but good excuse for an upgrade! Nano tanks are awesome and super easy given regular water changes. Whats the smallest one you have done? 3g?
@@ReefDudes smallest was a little over a quarter gallon. Loved that thing but had a coral that was growing to fast lol. Decided to upgrade to half gallon. Then things went South when I had emergency leave. And was neglected for over a week.

I just bought a small desktop fan on amazon with a clip and it brought my temp from 83 to 76 very impressed
Perfect! It’s amazing how well a fan can work!
Just be aware evaporation will speed up using a fan to cool it down
As usual a ton of great info. Holy cow I just realized it's 3:50am. Love these live streams. Wish I could actually catch one live.
Paul Butchyk Propped Nut FPV darn time zones!!! Hehe atleast you can catch the replays :)

Are airships good for a reef tank ?
Hi! Is it okay to top off fresh water everyday? Because my reef tank evapoeate so fast..
Andrew Pamittan yes you want to do that! If you don’t have an ato then adding fresh water daily is keep to balancing out evaporation

Sounds like a nice upgrade! You could always use a small DC pump but choking the slow back works too!

This one is still a goody
You rant well my friend
Robin Clark hehe thank you!
I’ve just got into accropora coral my tank is very stable and has been fur the past 2 weeks any tips on keeping them going forward
Biggest thing for acros is keeping those parameters stable. If they are stable you will have happy acros!
fantastic yeah my parameters are very stable
@@ryanshackleton2174 Excellent! Just make sure you test weekly and keep them there! :)

what kind of clean up crew for a nano
Just snails 🐌. I have a few random ones and an orange lip conch in there

@@ReefDudes nope. It was from not water changing and it being freshly setup. Major algae bloom.
Someone that knows about spectrum would be Logan Vanghele from www.ReefBreeders.com.
Here in California it’s 95 degrees. My nano tank stays at 83. I’m been trying to find a way to cool it down.
Rice Farmer a small fan will increase evaporation and likely do the trick for you
ReefDudes okay, I’ll check on amazon n see what I can find.
this was a 1 hour 33 min video about just doing water changes and not to over feed.
