    Most of those baits are thick which means they're pretty close to the shank. This means hook point exposure would be minimal and difficult with the round bend as the bait has to move over a hump as opposed to straight or freely as with an EWG. I'm thinking your hook-up percentage might suffer, especially compared to a slightly bent out EWG point. This is VERY easy to test, simply hold the bait with one hand and hit it near and at the hook point with a pen, stick, ruler, whatever.

      Yeah this has been a conversation with this hook for sure. Matt Stefan made a video on this last week as he is co owner of Core tackle with Jonny. I have not seen to have a problem with hook up ratio so far this summer. I have lost more fish / had em throw me off on a jig head minnow then this hook.

    I have several packs... problem I'm running into is the vline tie needs to be longer if the bait has a lot of plastic at the top it's not working well. u basically need to push eyelet thru bait the tie it on so u don't pull that weight thru the plastic an mess your bait up. I recently tried to use it on the new Yamamoto yamatunuki and it won't work it just messed the bait up. I really wanted this to work but only way I see this being any good is making that 90 deg eye longer so it comes out the bait then u can tie on.

    I bought a few when they first came out, so far i will say almost every fish has been hooked in the top mouth or lip, honestly, I like it better than my traditional Texas rig with a creature style bait. next time out will try the panaroma.

    Don’t have any yet but the Core Tackle weighted hooks were smoking the bass yesterday with a 3.3 keitech. The other two guys were catching on other baits but nothing like the like the Core Tackle hooks.

    The inexpensive Eagle Claw weighted hook does the same thing for a fraction of the cost. Compare and assess - the results will surprise you.

    • @TheFishingCoach

      I threw that hook and multiple other hooks for years... this weight is distributed throughout the hook. Not just in a small section. In scenarios with soft plastics like worms and creature baits... it gives the bait more of a gliding action in the water. Thanks John

  • @Twangtown7

    Do you have any issues with hookup ratio? There doesn't seem to be much bite gap with that hook on those plastics.

    • @TheFishingCoach

    For swimming, that’s why they designed the Tush! The weight is 100% hidden 🤦‍♂️

    • @TheFishingCoach

      The hook is exposed in the tush. Can’t swim a bait in lily pads stems or shallow grass.… just an example

    • @repairking1990

      @@TheFishingCoach good point. I don’t have lily pads near me but I rarely have snags around wood or especially rock. If your plastic is rigged correctly, it won’t rock or roll at all, so the only way for it to get snagged is if you are dragging bottom. With the Ozark only being a lightweight design, maybe the weedless hover rig would be a better option?

    • @TheFishingCoach

      You can still throw the hover rig in some spots or the weedless one. I have heavy cover that the ozark rig is for sure the better option in my area.

    • @repairking1990

      I’m on a river with near constant current generation. The heaviest Ozark rig would never reach the bottom of the lake even in 10ft of water unless used way back in a pocket or creek. It’s just impossible to use on the main River

    • @TheFishingCoach

      Yes it is a situational bait… I would not fish it in high current situation. There are a lot of techniques I would not fish with high current on main river

    • @TheFishingCoach

      Yeah that hook is a lil bit different concept. The weight on it is in a small section of the hook and away from the line pony. This weight is distributed throughout the whole hook. They end up having different action with the same baits. Appreciate you sharing though!!
