    I've seen many though my life. They are only beautiful from a safe perspective. When that pressure comes down over your head and shoulders and you know then without a doubt that storm is right above you it brings you to your knees. You know no matter who your are or what you have achieved in life you have absolutely no control over what is about to happen. It's a fear you will remember forever.

    I lived through May 3rd 1999 Moore, OK F5 tornado. I was 10 years old and I’ll never forget walking out of Westmoore High School after it passed and seeing all the destruction around. There was nothing left. It was like a bomb went off. And we were hit again May 20 2013 with the same F5. So much carnage. It was horrible.

    I really like his remark after giving the reasons (better understanding of storms ultimately benefits the public; simply love it; and the enormous reward) why he does this, “I’ll never pretend that I’ll need another reason, other than that, to do this.”

    How were they able to determine that the tornado formed from the ground up at 4:17? Is the visible formation (the dirt being pulled/pushed towards the clouds) different than formation of the actual forces involved? I would have assumed that the tornado already existed before it was visible, it just took the movement of the dirt upwards to be noticeable.

    it reaches up from the ground because it's the same phenomena as lightning, its electrical discharge, an attempt to neutralize the charge differential, something which is not possible but is kind of everlasting, that is also why sprites and elves form when there's a ground to cloud lightning of considerable potential, it just wants to complete the circuit as far as possible an even goes high enough into the region normally reserved for the aurora's and change color as the gasses change and thus the color these plasma pinches show changes. it's part of the global electrical circuit, and linked to larger circuits in the solar system, or at least the charge differential for those unwilling to acknowledge currents connecting sun, planets and beyond.

    It seems you need the up draft and the upper level shear winds to create a tornado. Maybe you can't have super cells without updrafts and warm moist air? The conclusion isn't very well explained and it makes it sound like this is more of a theory than a fact.

      I agree. It seems you need the up draft and the upper level shear winds to create a tornado. Maybe you can't have super cells without updrafts and warm moist air? Either way it doesn't seem he explained the conclusion very well.

    • @karl-yi4ir
      @karl-yi4ir 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The explanation in this video was very simplified...
      In a nutshell: A tornado is is an extension of a supercell that is stretched and because of that has much faster rotation speed

    His analysis is flawed, and his conclusions are wrong. At 4:17, the tornado doesn't START from the ground, the dirt just starts getting kicked up from the ground, due to forces FROM THE CLOUD. None of these analyses of tornadoes make any sense. They don't take into consideration the energy released by the condensation of water vapor into rain, the partial vacuum and refrigeration that occurs when the volume of water vapor disappears, and that the rotation is the result of the air getting sucked up into the storm cloud, not the cause of it. Science involves tracking where the forces and masses come from and where they go to, and what causes what. These explanations might as well be:" ooogah boogah...magic.." What motive forces are there that create the effects we see?
