1. Metal-on-Plastic (MoP) -
This is the most common and widely used type of hip implant, accounting for about 90% of all surgeries.
2. Metal-on-Metal (MoM) -
MoM implants were once considered a promising alternative to MoP, offering potential for longer lifespan and lower wear rates.
3. Ceramic-on-Ceramic (CoC) -
Ceramic-on-ceramic implants offer the lowest wear rates of all types, potentially lasting for 30 years or more.
