And with the vaccine mandates, more and more workers are losing their jobs, making things even worse. This won't end, it's going to get far, far, far worse.. Buy what you need now.
Blaming vaccine mandates? Please. Vaccine mandates reduce the number of people who will need to take time off work due to catching COVID. You can't work if you're dead
@@shyft09 The lockdowns and mandates are directly responsible for the supply chain collapse. (infratructure) Why were so many people layed off because of COVID-19? (employee support) Why is there a lack of employees to hire again? (employee conditions) There are many more unasked questions here ...
The fully loaded ships from China are waiting to be unloaded. So shouldn't that mean the problem is happening between the port to the shelf, and not between the factory to the port?
If China isn't able to produce as much stuff then why are ships full of stuff stuck? Wouldn't there not be enough stuff to fill all those ships? It doesn't make sense at all.
I live in the UK, apart from a few things like sweets and crisps (candy and chips) I can't say I've noticed any other shortages. Might be different in other places, but it's OK where I am 😉
My theory about the shipping containers that are stuck and unable to unload is that all of those shipping containers are empty. They don't want people to panic that there is going to be legit shortages. They want people to think that we're just moments away from unloading all of those shipping containers and everything will be fine. When reality is there's nothing on those containers and nothing's coming. They're just using the containers as a way to pacify the public into thinking it's just a delay and not real shortages.
Every country has to do its part, even if the products are manufactured locally, they still have to be transported, and countries like USA is vast. Why blame China when there are no port workers in your own ports.

@@charlesdayon5715 yes, but it’s not only godlessness to blame-fundamentalists who lose sight of the radical nature of Jesus’ ethic and read the word ahistorically are even more at fault. There are many who claim the good book reads as a recipe for hunkering down into a petrified form of conservatism which reacts against modernity-not that there is anything wrong with tradition, but part of tradition itself which seems readily overlooked is the injunction to be critical of one’s tradition-after all, Jesus the Jew became something new.. From a 30,000ft historical view, wasn’t Jesus closer to a countercultural feminist radical than a settled conservative? He personally accepted the price of death to stand up against the oppressions and patriarchy of Roman/Jewish culture. Women were second class citizens of his day and to Rome, slaves lacked an internal ethical life and so could be treated as objects. Jesus brought the kingdom to the lowest through love and through solidarity against the unrighteousness of the tide in his day. That path breaking ethic didn’t die on the cross, but it needs our help to rise again today.
There has been a move to "just in time" supply. This benefits manufacturers who no longer need to have capital tied up by carrying stock. Such an approach will however make the functioning of the supply chain EXTREMELY fragile. It is not a good idea and never was.
SO how is it not the most cost effective? If it never was a good idea, then explain why it has been the way we have been operating for close to 100 years. Warehouse space costs money. The cost of stevedoring and transport has increased drastically in price especially here in the U.S. with the high demands of unions. All of this ends up costing the consumer. Time to go back and look at the cost of a bushel of corn, Manufacturing costs into just a few ounces of flake, put in a box with color splashed on. Look at the cost as it rolls off the line. then look at the cost at he local grocery store. You need to educate better than towing the 99% diatribe of victimology.

Currently Logistics crisis started when containers are stuck in EUROPE, UK, and USA because China started quick exports when all other countries were in lock down phase so that's why they received the containers from China but do not move containers to other countries, so this was the major blunder in supply chain system.

That is true in many cases rn but with the import supply chain it's not because of a shortage of workers. The ships bringing stuff in were ORDERED to halt and wait. They are waiting for us to pay the Bill's, and we ain't got the moneys.

If the problem is that the US doesn't have enough truck drivers - to empty the ports so more goods can come in ... why do BRITIAN & FRANCE have empty shelves ?
Refuse to Pay inflated prices. This a “manufactured” (heh Heh) Crisis. Do not stockpile. Buy less. If everyone did this, prices will drop. Supply and Demand. At present the demand outstrips the supply - whether a reality or created. Hence price increases. A sudden and lasting (meaning a few months) drop in demand, will force an increase in supply, resulting in lower prices to increase demand. 101 economics.

62 ships with countless containers full of junk, mostly from China still unable to port and unload. The government and media say it's because of the "epic" buying power of the US citizens prepping for the holidays. BS Californian officials are blaming labor shortages and trucking shortages. BS Here's some facts from the trucking industry. The NEWS says the California port situation is caused by a driver shortage. Not so fast: It is in part caused by a California Truck Ban which says all trucks must be 2011 or newer and a law called AB 5 which prohibits Owner Operators. Traditionally the ports have been served by Owner Operators (non union). California has now banned Owner Operators. Long term, truckers in California are not investing in new trucks because California has a law that makes them illegal in 2035. The requirement is to purchase electric trucks which do not exist. And in the words of Paul Harvey, “Now you know the rest of the story” BUSINESS CARB to begin blocking certain trucks’ DMV registrations in 2020 Carriers domiciled in California with trucks older than 2011 model, or using engines manufactured before 2010, will need to meet the Board’s new Truck and Bus Regulation beginning in 2020 or their vehicles will be blocked from registration with the state’s DMV, the state has said. The new “health-based requirements” will need to be met before a driver is allowed to register his or her truck through the Department of Motor Vehicles, CARB says. A new enforcement tool used by the DMV beginning in 2020 will automatically block 2010 and older trucks from registration. Then there's the $5+ a gallon diesel prices in California. We simply aren't going there and paying those prices. Wake up people your $20 gallon of milk is coming with your $10 loaf of bread.
That is simply explained, in the past companies had material stocks that lasted for at least a month, then came some new teachings, that you should make your material stocks as small as possible because it binds money and capital! So and while under lockdown the demand was completely dropped, now as they start to work again, all want at the same moment these materials, and that is simply impossible to deliver, as you try too many things to transport with too few transport options to too few ports, what is overwhelming the transportation structures! What do we learn of that, first of all companies need to overthink their no material stocks policy as material can not be deliver just in time, if they are so afraid of binding capital, they should found a own bank and lent them self a loan for that material in their stocks to a zero interest rate loan. And second more alternative routs should be used permanently and alternative ports to diversivy the the traffic routs, which would also create more jobs in different location and would increase economic growth!

[1] The Indian panellist, Professor Jas, made a very important point: we need to be thinking strategically and fundamentally changing our patterns of consumption, of production, and of transportation . . . and not just short-term crisis-management e.g., getting goodies and trinkets for Christmas . . . . Let's cancel the traditional spending spree and the physical mindless gifting altogether, and refocus on the higher messages of peace, of service to others, of selflessness, and of shared experiences with family, with friends, and including those less fortunate. Notice how the latter have zero adverse impact on the climate, but do warm the hearts of both givers and receivers.

I think the media is missing a oppotunity here. There are just too many unasked question. Why is the largest US port _not_ already running 24hours? (Auckland New Zealand does) How can you increase unloading and delivery to 24 hours, if you dont have enough people to do it in 16 hours? (employee conditions) How can there be _more_ energy requirements _after_ COVID-19 impact, when contruction _and_ manufacturing where halted because of COVID-19? (infratructure) Why were so many people layed off because of COVID-19? (employee support) Why is there a lack of employees to hire again? (employee conditions) There are many more unasked questions here ...
Port of Los Angeles is now running 24/7 after the port unions agreed to that.
The fully loaded ships from China are waiting to be unloaded. So shouldn't that mean the problem is happening between the port to the shelf, and not between the factory to the port?
good point.
In the US container ships are stuck off shore. Yet Truckers are in line for 8hrs at the dock (at the drivers expense). Explain that?
If China isn't able to produce as much stuff then why are ships full of stuff stuck? Wouldn't there not be enough stuff to fill all those ships? It doesn't make sense at all.
No shortages in the netherlands

My theory about the shipping containers that are stuck and unable to unload is that all of those shipping containers are empty. They don't want people to panic that there is going to be legit shortages. They want people to think that we're just moments away from unloading all of those shipping containers and everything will be fine. When reality is there's nothing on those containers and nothing's coming. They're just using the containers as a way to pacify the public into thinking it's just a delay and not real shortages.
🤫they’re going to get you for that🤭
get local production on line - pricing on locally production. the local have to get use to local pricing
Every country has to do its part, even if the products are manufactured locally, they still have to be transported, and countries like USA is vast. Why blame China when there are no port workers in your own ports.

Thanks Al Jazeera English, you are doing a great job.
The God of the Bible is doing a great job, Jesus has done and is doing a great job, Virgin Mary in obedience to God the Father, and Her Son is doing a difficult job, trying to get us to listen to the truth of the end Days because Man does not listen to or obey the lord of the Bible.
As long as there food we are ok.
If 50 volcanoes world wide blow up, and polluted the atmosphere, we could have food shortages, and global cooling, and starvation so says Virgin Mary at various places. What we need is a good dose of religion.......Servants of Christ youtube.....Hail Mary full of Grace the Lord is with thee. Amen
Soon all of us will become a farmers.
Currently Logistics crisis started when containers are stuck in EUROPE, UK, and USA because China started quick exports when all other countries were in lock down phase so that's why they received the containers from China but do not move containers to other countries, so this was the major blunder in supply chain system.
Iam a SCM professional and I conclude that the SCM works on two important factors A. Consumption rate and the LEAD TIME. Now due to COVID-!9 Both of the factors have been affected or damage setting KOS. It will take the next 2 to 5 years to get back to track for international goods and 2 to 3 years for local consumers and manufactures.. Its NOT an Easy Fix so SCM professional have to organize or set up a international SCM group to address it monthly basis for international SCM. Mostly on raw materials .

Workers are like totally missing across the board and people be like get the slaves back to work!

BS
Californian officials are blaming labor shortages and trucking shortages.
BS
Here's some facts from the trucking industry.
And in the words of Paul Harvey, “Now you know the rest of the story”
BUSINESS
CARB to begin blocking certain trucks’ DMV registrations in 2020
Carriers domiciled in California with trucks older than 2011 model, or using engines manufactured before 2010,
will need to meet the Board’s new Truck and Bus Regulation beginning in 2020 or their vehicles will be blocked from registration with the state’s DMV, the state has said.

Must container's in does ships u see at sea are Empty is just to give u the elucion
And second more alternative routs should be used permanently and alternative ports to diversivy the the traffic routs, which would also create more jobs in different location and would increase economic growth!
hmmm.... production slowing down but commodity prices (copper, gold, steel...) going up. wonder what kind of industries are consuming massive amounts of commodity during economic crisis if it isn't the mass market.

Why not allow free enterprise play its role instead of failed central planning ?
Because global trade is inherently regimented and not an open system. It's not good for these sort of local supply chain problems.
