Fun fact: FXMLDR stands for "Fox Mulder" from the X files. At some live show they jokingly said that they removed the vowels because the were afraid of getting sued over copyright.
TYS really are a good group of guys. I remember a few years back they were on tour with Haken and right before their set the power went out. While waiting for the power, the got convinced by a couple of guys and a bottle of Jack to play a house show because their set got cancelled. So like 15-20 of us got to see them perform in a dingy basement of a Boston University frat house. They had to unplug the coin-op washer/dryer to plug in their gear. It was a great time! Salvatore was so drunk he performed the entire set in nothing but undershirt and briefs They were super fun. We all hung out afterwards; they did photos, signings and just chatted for a good bit. Definitely a night to remember.
The first time I saw them was their first tour with Coheed and Cambria. Salvatore said something along the lines of "I was working as a janitor a week ago, I'm so thankful for this." They signed stuff and met with fans between their set, the other openers, and Coheed's set. They were just generally nice people to be around.
Suspicious waveforms is great but if he's gonna check out an instrumental, I think it should definitely be RGV or Chromology... SW, though still great, is quite a bit weaker.
This whole album is fucking insane. It's one of my top albums of all time, up there with Close to the Edge. I genuinely think Faye Fadem is an insanely unique drummer, such a shame she isn't in TYS anymore.
This song is my favorite Thank you Scientist tune ever, specially this version. (Stands for Fox Mulder because it's like about aliens..loosely). This really has a really strong hook but plays around with time in a way that's extremely prog yet soooooo tastefully done, just excellent.
Looks like you're fully on board the TYS train. ONE OF US ONE OF US. Next you need to listen to the band that everyone in TYS agrees is one of the greatest bands: Bent Knee Check out Bent Knee - Hands Up for a good representative song.
I've been waiting this since i saw your first TYS react. FXMLDR is such a amazing song and i was pretty sure that this live version would won you over! Also, good job dude. Love your channel ! Greeting's from Brasil 🇧🇷
Man, I loved this song already, but this live version made me love it even more! The joy everyone had playing this was just so infectious. Definitely a very fun band. As someone else mentioned, check out their cover of Eddie Murphy's Party All the Time. BTW, I should've mentioned this on the Hiromi video, but another ridiculously talented contemporary fusion trio you should make a priority is The Aristocrats. Guthrie Govan might be the best guitarist alive today. I'd probably recommend the live version of Sweaty Knockers or Bad Asteroid.
Thanks for the reaction!! This was one of the first songs that I love from TYS. You should check all the live version stuff that they have, cause you can check closer the genius of this guys: Anchor: The solo is sick! Mr. Invisible: The most dancing song of them. In The Company Of Worms: A master class of fretless guitar... Greetings from Chile!
I saw them live last december and the vocals and instrumentation is so solid. Then they ended with party all the time GOOD LORD was that fun. I hope to see them again when everything is back to normal
I'm pretty sure this was the first single from their latest album which I think is their most mature project to date, so many genius ideas and choices throughout (personally I think Everyday Ghosts is INSANELY good). And I have to say this every time TYS shows up but...Tom Monda is one of the greatest guitarists of all time, that dude does stuff that makes me never want to look at a guitar again. hey would you look at that here's him playing the solo from the song i mentioned and the skill still upsets me: th-cam.com/video/Y6VXkkz-gRM/w-d-xo.html
Terraformer is their most mature effort yet, but i still love stranger heads prevail the most! I think its their most raw and emotional effort and feed the horses was my first song I heard of theirs.
This song has proven to me that I need to check out an album. The last song you did of theirs I liked everything but the vocalist, I felt he was a little "lacking". But he came through with some nice chops this time around. Great, piece of music all around. That's sax solo tho....
If youve never checked out the band Streetlight Manifesto you need to react to them. If you like the bouncy ska type riffs and great brass sections they are up your alley for sure. A few song suggestions would be: If and When We Rise Again, Everything went Numb, Heres to Life, or Better Place Better Time
I would like to suggest some Anathema songs , really anything from the album judgement , maybe even listen to it on its entirety ,if you ever do "album reviews"
The singer used to have a lot more tonal range on their earlier albums, but he pulled back on the more intense vocals over time. I think he might've been throwing his voice out too much when performing live, so he's been writing safer parts to compensate. Still one of my favorite groups, though!
If you haven't already, you DEFINITELY need to give the studio of this a listen. It's a lot cleaner and fuller. And the drummer does more little intricate pieces that she doesn't replicate here. It is missing the Bluecoats but I still really prefer the album version.
Fun Fact. Why they have an entire drum Corp behind them the entire song is because the Corp performed their song "Psychopomp" and the Corp and TYS became buddies. The Corp is the Bluecoats.
Fun fact: FXMLDR stands for "Fox Mulder" from the X files. At some live show they jokingly said that they removed the vowels because the were afraid of getting sued over copyright.
Reminds me of Mkl Jksn by Mutiny on the Bounty
Saved me from having to say it. Lol.

Check out the instrumental they made from this album, Chromology. It's crazy, Rube Goldberg Variations is also a sick instrumental by them.
Suspicious Waveforms

This is like the third TYS video I've seen you do. That's why I subscribed.
Me too jajaja
That part at 8:18 sounds like the electric violin to me. wonderful use of textures. i totally see how that sounds like a trumpet
Looks like you're fully on board the TYS train. ONE OF US ONE OF US.

So happy I was able to catch TYS and Bent Knee together twice last year. Phenomenal bands that put on Phenomenal shows
@@drmegawhits6548 best live shows ever, compounded by them loving to tour together
Hands Up was a song that didn't really resonate with me until I saw them do it live. Their energy on that track is really fun!
@@violet3142 they definitely kill it live! The whole crowd repeatedly throwing their hands up with Ben going crazy really makes it
"Bryan, thou art commanded to go forth in the world and make band cool!" 😀
I’m so happy you did this version instead of the studio version. I often go watch this video for a pick me up. Been a huge fan of TYS for years.
I've been waiting this since i saw your first TYS react. FXMLDR is such a amazing song and i was pretty sure that this live version would won you over!

Listened to this song for ages now and just now realized that high octave trumpet part. I’ll remember it now

About time they get some recognition

the cover eddie murphy party all the time ... they dont take themselves seriously at all .. and made a music video for it
The music video is basically a parody of the original music vid too
BrightRaven210 [Chris] I know . It’s amazing
This was awesome! 🤘🔥🍻 Keep diving into these cats
Again your choice makes me very happy!
Yessss I was hoping you’d do this TYS song! Thank you.

FXMLDR is short for Fox Mulder, from the X-Files show
This band is so much fun. Haven't heard this one before.
The attitude from them reminds me a little of Unleash the Archers.
As a former band nerd myself, this video brings me so much joy every time I watch it. Thank You Scientist are such a great band.
Should check the song "Anchor", possibly their best song...
I would like to suggest some Anathema songs , really anything from the album judgement , maybe even listen to it on its entirety ,if you ever do "album reviews"
I'd like to suggest more Leprous songs. The Valley is an absolutely amazing experience, Slave is also incredible in the atmosphere it creates.
Drum line running drills in the background wishing they were there, but still steadfast in their discipline. Respect, sympathy and respect.
Nice man bun Bryan 👍👌🏾😜😜😂 thanks for your videos my man 👍
The singer used to have a lot more tonal range on their earlier albums, but he pulled back on the more intense vocals over time.
I think he might've been throwing his voice out too much when performing live, so he's been writing safer parts to compensate.
Still one of my favorite groups, though!
The megaphone reminded me of an early System of a down concert, where Serj screamed through a megaphone to the microphone.
Knew you'd enjoy this one.
Check out Rube Goldberg Variations by them, it's a banger of an instrumental song.
If you haven't already, you DEFINITELY need to give the studio of this a listen. It's a lot cleaner and fuller. And the drummer does more little intricate pieces that she doesn't replicate here. It is missing the Bluecoats but I still really prefer the album version.
lovely.
YES DUDE

have you reacted to Snarky Puppy yet? lots of people react to lingus, but i think shofukan and outlier are cooler songs
Please check out periphery garden in the bones
Please react to LETTERS FROM THE COLONY - GALAX! Cheers man!
