I did the same. Mike is a natural teacher. He sets up the big picture first before digging down into the details. Even with PreSonus official videos there seems to be gaps at times about things - both big picture and the details. But not Mike.
Great videos. You are starting to draw me away from Logic Pro X to Studio One. I really appreciate you taking the time to help us listen and recognise audio issues. Eg: 1:00 where you draw our attention to the guitar booming. I don't recall anyone else bothering to do this and think this topic alone could justify more videos. What should we be listening for and how would we recognise what is good and what is bad?
I have learned more in one week of using the DEMO version of Studio One with these videos (& Joe's) than in 10 years and three albums with another DAW lol
HI Mike! You are a treasure. I am becoming a better engineer by watching your informative and easy to understand videos. Much appreciated! Keep up the good work!
Like I told you in another comment Mike, I'm making the switch from cakewalk to studio one and watching your videos here almost make me feel like I'm cheating! You're making it so easy to get used to S1 and all of its cool features and I thank you! Great video as always. 😊
Mike so glad you started this channel. I learned so much about what I do with recording, I started out with Cakewalk and switched to Studio One late last year. Your explanations are extremely helpful.
Thank you!! I was given a stereo track of a mix that needed 2 vocals added and I just can’t get them to sound right and I was thinking I needed something like this and you just explained how to do it for me!
Loving this new channel Mike dedicated to Studio One. (I actually also still love your other channel). This is a real gem. I'm loving the practical real-world examples you provide here, and your simple concise explanations cut through the complexity. This is really very useful to me and how I will approach the use of the new dynamic EQ3 tool in Studio One 6. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Gday Mike A comment like and subscription for the new channel, I was a subscriber of your Cakewalk channel which got me back into music production which I hadn't done since the old 4 track days, after a while of getting back I invested into studio one also thanks to your little tidbits on the previous channel. Very happy to see you have a dedicated studio one channel, there are many tutorial channels to go to but you provide no nonsense tutorials, take time to explain properly in a way that resounds with me, hope the channel takes off you deserve the success, teaching is an honorable profession thanks for your time. Mark
From watching your videos on using the S1 stock plugins I decided not to spend as much on third-party plugins anymore. Studio One's plugins are very good, and do the same job as other well known plugins. Now I use the stock plugins a lot more to save money and get the results I'm looking for. Thanks!
Love your videos!….im not good at anything computer related and you make it so much easier to understand!…thank you for the help!….gladly subscribed to the channel!
As usual, you do a great job describing the use of these powerful tools. I love how easy it is to add a side chain. And also, this EQ is easy on the CPU. I'm hoping this channel catches on because you're a real gem when it comes to instruction!
Thank you for providing all this great info. I've been using Studio One for years but haven't really taken the time to learn more about it until recently, your videos are super helpful.
Thank you for using an example to explain how this dynamic function works on Pro EQ3. It's nice to see how it's used. Learning more about side chaining would also be good. I ask because I hear about this happening so often with the kick drum and the bass.
Hey Mike, absolutely love your videos, there so easy to follow, keep up the good work, quick question, would you use 2 EQ's, we'll say one to sculpt the sound of your guitar or vocal and then the other one as a dynamic EQ with the sidechain?
Keep making these videos! I've seen the Pro EQ3 presented a few times by others, but your presentation absolutely clarified things for me. As requested in your Editing Tools vid, yes, though I've been using Studio One since version 4.5, I'm picking things up thru your vids that I've either missed or misunderstood. Keep it up!
Hey Mike. I've long been a fan of your Creative Sauce channel, so I was delighted to see this channel dedicated to all things Studio One. This video (especially the section on side-chaining) was sooo helpful. What previously seemed like black magic seems manageable. Thanks so much! ... I have a side-question for you... please keep scrolling below... Side question for you... Your video are always so well produced. I'm guessing you might be using OBS for putting together your instructional videos. Small things like how you highlight a small area with a large circle and mouse pointer to focus in on some particular point you are making are brilliant. I also love how you often add little "floating text boxes" that zip on and back off the screen when you focus on a particula point. Have you ever considered making a "video production how-to" presentation? I can't be the only one who admires that aspect of your work. ✊
You're making some great videos. Very easy to follow and understand with great demonstrations. Much appreciated! I haven't upgraded from 5 to 6 just yet but planning to this weekend.
Complete game-changer for me. I had been using Reason as my primary DAW for over 2 decades with Studio One version 3 primarily relegated to vocal recording and mastering. I was on the fence about purchasing Fabfilter Pro Q3 for it's dynamic EQ features when I started seeing videos indicating ProEQ 3 in Studio One 6.6 had that feature. For those who haven't seen it, this demonstration blew me away - th-cam.com/video/BMpP-9G0ISs/w-d-xo.html I was finding the $160 price tag of Fabfilter Pro Q3 a bit hard to swallow so decided to upgrade from Studio One version 3 to 6.6 for a similar price. Now two weeks in, I can't believe how much DAW goodness I was missing out on with Reason and I'm using Studio One for 100% of my song creation and mastering needs. Keep up the great work - this channel is amazing.
Still need to figure out if I’m going to upgrade or wait 2 more years and see what 7 brings. Nice features from 5 to 6 but in my case I’ll be paying an upgrade for a de esser and dynamic eq which I already have lol.
Yeah, I think that makes sense. The other nice things about v6 (track icons, ui zoom, fader flip) make S1 a better experience, but are more like 'nice to have' features.
Just switched to Studio One. Can I load Pro EQ on multiple tracks without overloading my CPU? Let’s say I wanted to cut out the sub frequencies/low end of 15+ tracks in my session. Would I load a different instance of Pro EQ on all 15-20 tracks?
Hi Mike, being a Studio One user, I have been following all of your tutorials about vocal mixing. I am very keen to listen your suggestion on how to achieve this tonal effect from the reference video. I meant particularly the airiness and layering. If you listen to it you will understand what I mean. The vocal here is very crisp and airy. Do you have any suggestions on this? reference song: th-cam.com/video/olArm03oiqg/w-d-xo.html
I watched 4 other Dynamic EQ-explanation videos before I finally found this. That is how it should be done, BRAVO!
I did the same. Mike is a natural teacher. He sets up the big picture first before digging down into the details. Even with PreSonus official videos there seems to be gaps at times about things - both big picture and the details. But not Mike.
In the process of switching to Studio One, so your new channel came along at just the right time. Thanks for sharing your knowledge!
My pleasure Jahn! Good luck on your journey :)
I've been using Studio One since January and didn't feel confident enough to use Dynamic EQ, but this video has helped so much. Exactly what I needed.
Hey guys, I'm on my 30 day trail from verse 4 to 6.2 and loving what you guys have done with the plugins. Outstanding!
Great tutorial Mike and a great way of explaining.
Many thanks.

Brilliant walkthru! You've taken a complex subject and simplified it perfectly. Well done!
HI Mike! You are a treasure. I am becoming a better engineer by watching your informative and easy to understand videos. Much appreciated! Keep up the good work!
Thanks Raymond, appreciated!
Dynamic EQ is a must! I've been using Neutron Elements for years now, and I'm glad Studio One finally added one. Best DAW ever.
Hi Mike, i always revisit your old videos to fresh-up the ideas. your tutorials are very comprehensive. Thanks and Go Ahead!!
Sheer excellence! Even though I knew these already, just the way you delivered it made me a newbie and I listened attentively.
I really like your videos! You make even a guy like me understand why, what and how to get there!
I loved the Pro EQ before, now i love it much more :)
Like I told you in another comment Mike, I'm making the switch from cakewalk to studio one and watching your videos here almost make me feel like I'm cheating! You're making it so easy to get used to S1 and all of its cool features and I thank you! Great video as always. 😊
Thanks Kev, it's appreciated :)
Now that is what I call an explanation :) Thanks a lot for that
Mike so glad you started this channel. I learned so much about what I do with recording, I started out with Cakewalk and switched to Studio One late last year. Your explanations are extremely helpful.
They are absolutely stunning addition to studio 6
Thank you!! I was given a stereo track of a mix that needed 2 vocals added and I just can’t get them to sound right and I was thinking I needed something like this and you just explained how to do it for me!

Thanks Peter!

Mike, again a great video! what I love about you're videos, is the pease (good word?), easy to follow , well explained.

That's definitely something I'll cover thanks.
Absolutely the best and most informative channel I've found to date for S1 and love ❤ the way everything is explained in detail. TY.
Great explanation on the dynamic EQ. I'll be adding this in my toolbox.
Awesome! Glad it was helpful :)
Thank you very much for your valuable knowledge! Really helps! 🙏
Very well done! I used to use TDR Nova until now but having a stock plug in is very nice
I really like your channel. You e very professional and nicely explain things in simple and organized way. Thanks.
I will make sure I watch all your videos.
Even though I know how to use the dynamic EQ, I always learn something.thx 4 the vid.
Wow - I so needed this tutorial... Thanx!!!

Excellent ! Now I know what a dynamic EQ does. I didn't before this video. Thanks!

I used the TDR Nova GE a lot. But as a studio one newbe it looks I got a handy alternative now. Thanx

WOW! Valuable information. Thanks!
Great tutorial Mike, thanks for this 👍🏼
for Sidechaining Vocal against Music ; Focusrite's Fast Reveal plugin is the best!
Very cool, excited to try it out! Thank you!
You're making some great videos. Very easy to follow and understand with great demonstrations. Much appreciated! I haven't upgraded from 5 to 6 just yet but planning to this weekend.
Glad you like them! Thanks Todd :)
Really enjoy the videos. Great explanations, as well as demonstration. And you present it at a good pace. Great work!
Excellent tutorial on the new EQ features! Thanks!
Very welcome!
You explain it very well thank you
Thank you very much, Mike, it was very useful.
Nice video, mate!
Super useful tips! Thank you so much!
So is this mostly a multiband compressor like LinMB?
Thanks for this. Very clear explanation.
Glad it was helpful!
That Solo function may be the best new feature.
True! Much needed.
Complete game-changer for me.

Thank you!
Very helpful video, thanks. Is there any way to get this added functionality in Studio One 5?
Still need to figure out if I’m going to upgrade or wait 2 more years and see what 7 brings. Nice features from 5 to 6 but in my case I’ll be paying an upgrade for a de esser and dynamic eq which I already have lol.
It's the subtle workflow improvements that make V6 a good update
Yeah, I think that makes sense. The other nice things about v6 (track icons, ui zoom, fader flip) make S1 a better experience, but are more like 'nice to have' features.
Thank you.
This is awesome! As a bonus, does the Presonus EQ have a way to detect and automatically set the frequency bands to the resonances of the audio track?
Hi Mike. Love your videos. Watched four or five today.. 🙂 Please explain the "I´m Mike - and I hope you will" for the ignorant Dane here... ?
Just switched to Studio One. Can I load Pro EQ on multiple tracks without overloading my CPU? Let’s say I wanted to cut out the sub frequencies/low end of 15+ tracks in my session. Would I load a different instance of Pro EQ on all 15-20 tracks?
