Studio one has its very significant powerful stock plugins and this channel is helping to realise what we can make use of it.

Regarding the use of the double knee. More often than not people tend to “tickle the tops” of the wave forms with compression. This type of compression brings the loudest signals closer to all the other signals but has no effect on the relationship of the material that happens between-10db and -20 db.There are a couple of ways to compress the overall dynamic range of the signal. One way is a standard compressor with low threshold and very low ratio like 1.1:1 where the material at -10 might drop to -12 but the material at -20 might drop to-21. This makes the difference 9db when it was 10.
The multi band double knee would allow you to control the range of volume that you are selecting with the knees without affecting other areas of volume. Picture a stereo drum mix where one Tom is louder than another, and “ tickling the tops” mostly reacts to kick and snare, you could bring the volume of the two toms closer together by having a knee at -7 and the second knee at-14. If you don’t have individual control the double knee helps.
I frequently use low threshold low ratio compression with slow attack on acoustic guitar in busy mixes to bring out the softer notes without squashing the signal too much.

Very nice and helpful. This plugin is actually what I used for “ear training”. For instance I’ll mute or solo it to hear what low mids sound like. 😊

Really enjoying and learning kots from your videos!!! Thank you 🙏 would have loved to see how you used this to level out that G.note.from the beginning though i think I've got a general idea atm.. keep up the good work and thanks again 🙏🕊️

This is only a theory class, if you could give a practical using a song or music part that would be great.

The high threshold basically lets you do upward compression I guess (low level compression). You could bring out some detail in the quiet parts and leave the loud ones alone.

The only MB compressor aside Ozone's one that gives that kind of control. And better than Ozones, because you can upward compress while preserving the natural 1:1 ratio below the low threshold.

I guess the high threshold is used with a 1:>1 ratio to let the plugin work as an expander instead of a compressor.

No, this is a sister channel to Creative Sauce channel. This is just geared towards us studio one users ✌🏽

There is WAY TOO MUCH manipulation in every recording software nowadays!!!!! People are ruining & losing the sound of real music by real musicians! You’re losing the SOUL in the part of music by changing every fkn aspect of your recording!!! If you’re a good real musician you don’t need to manipulate every fkn part of your sound . That’s why music sucks nowadays
