  • Fuerteventura lockdown update video from Puerto del Rosario, the capital of Fuerteventura.
    🔴SUBSCRIBE HERE / @ameliabolger
    We are still in Phase 2, so show you around Playa Chica, Las Rotundas Shopping Centre, the city centre and provide information on how to visit for the day. We start at the bus station and let you know which bus to take from Caleta de Fuste or Corralejo.
    Puerto del Rosario isn't really a tourist destination but there are several things to do and see here which make it worth a day trip. Even during lockdown de-escalation there is a lot of activity from locals and most of the shops, bars and restaurants are open.
    Another update showing our life in Fuerteventura during lockdown in 2020. We live just outside Caleta de Fuste and retired early here 2 years ago.
    On Monday 25th May 2020 Fuerteventura entered Phase 2 of lockdown de-escalation. There is a much larger list of things we can now do, with these being the ones that are most relevant to us-
    Phase 2 allows small social gatherings of up to 15 people.
    Restaurants can open their inside space to a maximum of 50% capacity
    Beaches can open with 2m social distancing observed
    Shopping Centres can reopen with shops allowed 40% capacity
    Exercise time slots relaxed, with activity allowed anytime expect between 10am-12noon and 7-8pm which is reserved for over 70's.
    Drop your questions in the comments and I'll do my best to answer them all 👍

    Thanks for this update on Rosario. Whilst it isn't necessarily a tourist destination, its always been a favourite place of mine. Good to see a little of the normal hustle and bustle of the place beginning to return. Looking forward to the extra vlog next week. Good to see both of you looking so well.

    I really like Puerto - there are normally some really good restaurants in the evening (full of locals) and lots of families out 'taking the air' along the seafront. It feels really 'Spanish' and not at all touristy. Great video - very informative - thank you ladies!

    Hi, thanks for the update and video. We always have half a day in Puerto del Rosario, it's a nice place to while away a few hours. I sometimes go on my own if the other half is too glued to the sun lounger, the buses are really good. Any female looking to visit Fuerteventura as a lone traveller ,,,go for it, it's a nice laid back island and it always feels pretty safe.
    We are still waiting for things to settle down more in the U.K. and we won't be able to book a holiday as long as the "quarantine for two weeks when you are home" is in place due to work commitments. As soon as things ease off a little, we will be booking.

    Thankyou ladies, love it there. We had to go for all the wrong reasons, I.e. to find a police station, however, there was a funny side, something got lost in translation and the taxi driver took us to the Bus Station instead of the Police Station! We had a lovely day there, not a tourist in sight, great bars and history. Would certainly recommend a visit. Keep up the good work girls. 🙂🌞🍸

    Once again thankyou ladies, always so informative, we normaly do fuerta as an early one in march, then greek islands in june an sept, looks more chance you being open come sept, so what is say el coletio (excuse spelling) like in sept, went for the day about 8 years ago, but on more recent vlogs seems to have developed some what ???

    • @AmeliaBolger
      @AmeliaBolger  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, slightly more developed than when you last went but still a lot quieter than the other resorts. Your hotel choice would be more limited but lots of self catering apartments/villas to rent. Some amazing beaches in El Cotillo and it’ll be very hot in September. If beaches are your thing then go for it, if you tend to stick to the hotel pool then maybe not so much.

      @AmeliaBolger  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Shops, bars and some restaurants are already open in Caleta and Corralejo. Tourist activities and excursions are expecting to restart on or around 1st July. At the moment it’s just confirmation of flights and hotels that we’re waiting for. Hopefully you’ll get confirmation in the next week or so about what’s happening 🤞

    • @mickgee3489
      @mickgee3489 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Look online for a good deal and get full cover insurance (additional cost) so you don't get any nasty surprises when you return the car. 1,500 euro for a scratch taken off your credit card.
      Bikes are as cheap as chips in your resort.
      Good luck

    • @AmeliaBolger
      @AmeliaBolger  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Daniel there are lots of places along the Main Street in Corralejo and down by Town Beach that do bike rentals. They’re all a similar price and bikes are in good condition. As for car hire, I do plan on doing a video on it soon. Short summary- don’t rent from Goldcar, they are notorious here for ripping people off. Do rent from a company with an office at the airport- Payless, AutoReisen and Cicar are companies well regarded here and won’t rip you off. Reserve a car online in advance for the best rate

  • @markfoster1493

    Thanks a lot Amelia and Sarah, its always good to have ideas of where to go for a change of scenery. Do you think its a good idea (availability of buses there and back) to take a day trip from Jandia as this is the resort we usually holiday at.

    • @AmeliaBolger
      @AmeliaBolger  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s certainly possible Mark, the number 1 bus serves Morro Jable to Puerto Del Rosario and stops in Jandia. It would be a long journey though, probably around 1 hour each way. That bus also stops at Gran Tarajal which is a nice beach town with some shops and local cafe bars. That would probably be around 30mins each way if you don’t want to go as far. I’m sure I’ll feature Gran Tarajal at some point in the future as Sarah and I do like to visit there every so often

    I seen the other day that some of the UK Airports published a list of which Airlines will be flying where when they start up again and some places they will start flying to from July but from what I have read it doesn't look like the flights to Fuerteventura will start until at least August at the moment with the likes of Jet2 etc

    • @AmeliaBolger
      @AmeliaBolger  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think some of the airlines are willing but need the green light before making announcements. It will be an interesting couple of weeks as I imagine there is a fair amount of work for the airlines to do behind the scenes getting aircraft and crew ready to fly again.

    • @AndyMason87
      @AndyMason87 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah things could change between now and July 1st but like I say from what I have read I would guess August at the earliest as it is now, Hopefully things get a lot better between now and when they resume and everyone can get back there as soon as possible

      Amelia Bolger I will be support vehicle if required. My son and his coach/mate both competitive triathletes. Coach was a pro last year but as no races this year he’s having a break from the pro scene. He did Lanzarote 70.3 last year and was planning the same this year. Having said that he came off his TT bike on Thursday at 31mph and is pretty well scraped up and battered. We should be staying at Tamaragua and if all is well they will use swimming at Oasis Papagayo.

    • @AmeliaBolger

      Leaving the corporate rat race for a completely different lifestyle was the best thing we’ve ever done. Certainly no time to be bored 👍 Not seen any antique shops on the island. Plenty of arts and crafts. There are some expat areas with British, Irish, German and Italians. We live in a mainly Spanish village and love it. Thanks for watching
