Had to watch this again after just learning through the podcast how much Naya and Chris absolutely hated having to do this scene. They even had to do multiple takes because Naya kept letting her feeling bad mess her up and Chris was apparently openly uncomfortable and hurt so Naya kept apologizing between takes and reminding him that she didn’t write it and doesn’t actually feel that way. Poor Chriya.
The thing is, this would maybe be fine if the writers hadn’t written so many things that are Chris’ (Kurts actors) actual insecurities in the rant. Like the physical features. Naya has admitted that this was one of her least favourite scenes to shoot because she could see that the words actually hurt Chris and not just his character on the show.

Even though this was a scene both Naya and Chris disliked and felt uncomfortable doing, it also shows just how incredibly talented Naya was, she didn't show that she was uncomfortable. The way she was able to say her lines so quickly without even stumbling over a single word while being able to maintain Santanas' facial expressions and tone of voice while doing so was incredible. Naya was without a doubt a force to be reckoned with in the acting world, she definitely deserved to be in top movies, she had more talent in her little finger than half of these oscar winners/nominees that you see now have. R.I.P Naya, life really is a cruel joke sometimes.

I'm not gonna lie, the first time I saw this, I did laugh at certain parts. I mainly laughed at Rachel in the background, the part about Quinn, and her imitating the dance moves. But even when the episode aired, I was like. . .why the heck would the writers put that line in?! I mean some of them were more about Chris and his physical features and not necessarily Kurt the character. But now after seeing her interview where she flat out said she HATED having to do this and that Chris Colfer was so upset. . .now I really, really, really wonder why the writers would do this!? Yea, I don't think I can look at this scene the same way anymore.
@Natalia Herrera Castro his looks? What about his looks? Dance moves aren't his looks. Everything she attacked as about the character he played. The only thing that was remotely about his looks was his smile. Even that was an exaggerated part of his character because his natural smile is different.
I mean the 3 dance moves was hilarious, not gonna lie but that kinda goes back to Chris Colfer not being that great of a dancer. And the teeth thing was mean. . .that part was definitely more about Chris because his smile does hide his top row of teeth.
Kurt totally deserved this. Klaine was a super dysfunctional couple in the later seasons and they both obviously weren't ready with the commitments that come with marriage, but may I remind everyone that Brittana first of all, broke up mutually as they didn't want their relationship to strain from the long distance, NEVER cheated on each other, protect each other like it's their jobs, and are overall the most "match made in heaven" couple to ever grace Glee's existence? Kurt should of known by then not to doubt Santana's loyalty (and her razor sharp tongue) in these types of situations. Needless to say, I feel this rant was justified as well as extremely hilarious.

You know, I don't ever respond to these things. And this is 7 months old, so, who's really going to care anyway, but, I kind of find it funny when people say what an amazing, wonderful, supportive couple Brittana is. So, I'm curious when that amazing wonderfulness all started. Was it when Santana told Brittany she was only making out with her because Puck was in juvie? Was it in the selfish way she tried to manipulate Brittany into cheating with her behind Artie's back? Or the biphobia she displayed when she finally told Brittany she loved her and Brittany didn't decide to immediately split up with Artie to be with her? Was it when she said Brittany was "so gullible, she could tell her that being with her was the law of the land" after she became Prom Queen? Or was it when, after they were together, using Rory to manipulate her into joining the Troubletones instead of just sitting down and talking with her, or, better yet, just understanding that Brittany wasn't ready to leave the ND yet, and just stick it out with her. Nope, making her believe the foreign exchange student was a leprechaun was totally better. Or that break up, when Santana made the decision that because she felt an attraction for another girl that they should split up because someday they would both be attracted to other people, and being apart made it less stressful. And then, when Brittany started dating Sam, Santana told Sam to back off because "the girl is mine". So, Santana felt it was better for them to break up as long as Brittany didn't date anyone else? Yeah, no, you're right. That totally should be filed under "match made in heaven" and "protect each other like it's their job". And no, they didn't cheat on each other, but Santana got Brittany to cheat on someone else, because that's what she did with everyone. Love Brittana if you want, but don't make them out to be this picture perfect couple. Brittany was someone who, in my opinion, viewed life differently, and season after season we got to see Santana manipulate that for her own gain. Whoo. Such health right there.
At first I didn't understand why Chris didn't want to act more or sing after Glee. But, damn, I just can't believe the writers would do him so dirty. They literally not only insulted his character, but they made fun of the actor's personal traits such as his voice, his smile, and him himself throughout the series. They fucked up his character so badly... It was just painful to watch. I mean, he got bullied for being gay, kissed without his consent, cheated on, almost raped, his father got a heart attack and later cancer, his step-brother died, he thought about killing himself, he didn't get into NYADA at first... And is there any compensation to the characters sadly insufferable plot line? HELL TO THE NO. I loved glee for the first 3 seasons, but it later became just difficult to keep watching. Poor Chris. He deserved so much better; as well as Kurt.

Kurt is everything to me but as soon as she said "Maybe I need someone who knows more than three dance moves." And went on to them I couldn't help myself any longer. I've never laughed this hard. Literally every time he dances I notice that he does "The Shoulder Shimmy" before anything else.

I love how Naya said on Heather Morris’ podcast that she hated doing this scene because they had to do it about 20 times and she could see how much Chris (Kurt) hated it.

When you learn this was a deliberate attack on Chris Colfer and how uncomfortable he and Naya were filming it. The lines were *too* personal and you can tell now they were making fun of Chris, not Kurt. Naya served, but it’s sad to see now. RIP to Naya and her honest and kind heart.🖤 🕊

No, its because the insults weren't just about Kurt's personality, but his looks as well. Like his smile, his mouth, this no longer insults Kurt, it insults Chris. The writers really should not have done that. It crosses the line

Also, the only reason he didnt support was because it brought up bad memories for him from what happened with him and Blaine. it's incredibly upsetting how what was seen as an "iconic moment" is just basically a chris colfer (kurt hummel) slander by ryan murphy (glee producer). back in season 3, ryan was not satisfied with the fact that chris branched out as a ny times best-seller children storybook author and from that day onward, everything went downhill. in season 6 episode 3, ryan took advantage of the late naya's character, santana, to directly insult chris guised as his character kurt by attacking his real life insecurities such as the way he looks, sounds and his love for old people; which should be celebrated instead of shamed. ryan knows exactly what he'd done as there is a difference between attacking the character or the actor. the script could have consisted of santana insulting kurt's neck scarf obsession or diva behaviour but instead ryan attacked chris' physical attributes. this fact is backed-up by naya's statement in kevin mchale (artie abrams) and jenna ushkowitz's (tina cohen-chang) showmance podcast in which she mentioned that the minutes-long rant was her least favourite santana moment because both her and chris were very uncomfortable doing the scene to the point that chris got visibly upset and almost tearful. she genuinely felt sorry that she apologised to him many times between takes but was powerless as she was just another actress forced to act out the offensive script given to her. just a reminder, chris was the target of heavy bullying back in middle school because of his voice and sexuality to the point that he had to be home-schooled for over a year. he'd probably thought that as the years go by, people would be mature enough to lay off of him for being the only openly gay actor at work but turns out ryan was out to give him the same treatment on set like he got back in middle school. hence when being asked if chris wants to return for a possible glee sequel, he shuts it down by saying "that's not for me." conclusion, unless you are ryan murphy's favourite broadway babies like lea michele (rachel berry) and darren criss (blaine anderson), returning to glee to work with him again is like reliving hell. any glee producer apologists that can't differentiate between attacking the character or the actor can screw off from this post too. i rest my case.
Listen YOUR WRONG. They made fun at bea Arthur in golden girls all the time because of how she looks. There are major similarities in bea and dorthys mannerism. And nobody said squat. Everyone laughed. Why should this be any different? It’s a show. Stop getting but hurt over this.

I think people should relax a bit and appreciate it for what it is: Naya Awesomeness. You're focusing on the negative things here. Yes, Santana said some pretty mean stuff (some of it deserved) but after 6 seasons can we expect anything less from her? The guy pretty much teared down one of the happiest moments of her life so of course she's gonna go tear him a new asshole. But for Naya to remember all those lines, to not crack up at all and to get the emotion across....outstanding. How she never won an Emmy for this role is beyond me...

A few weeks ago I decided to check YT to see whatever became of them & I saw their duet & proposal & I was like, "Who are you & what have you done w/ Brittany & Santana?!" I have never seen them so happy & so in love!!! They sounded amazing together. Santana had changed so much I didn't even recognize her & she is hotter than hell in S6!! And contrast it to S5 to see how much happier they are. Take a look at my Brittany & Santana playlist & watch the 2 scenes I put back to back, jumping from the kiss in S5 when they were broken up to the duet & proposal in S6!! They are BEAMING in that duet!! I was like, "Wow, what a difference a year together made for these guys!"

For those who say it's not an attack on Chris, see this I know it's a bit long, but it explains everything Before I start this let me make one thing clear: although I will tag this also as ‘lol santana’ I don’t want to put the blame of that awful rant on her. But I’m afraid it also won’t be forgotten when there will be future posts about Santana and Kurt’s further interactions on Glee: she unfortunately did say that in canon and imo it sadly completely (should have) ruined Kurtana’s friendship. So, this post is not about Santana, it’s about RIB (the writers), and especially Brad Falchuk. They are the ones who put those words in Santana’s mouth, thinking it perfectly okay and even 'funny’ to insult one of their main characters and actors in this vile way. Let’s break down some of the things that were said: “…with a mouth like a cat’s ass.” (…) “Maybe Blaine got tired of hearing a shrill, self-aggrandizing lecture…” (…) “Maybe Blaine didn’t want to be with someone who looks like they just removed their top row of dentures every time they smile…” ^Nice, insulting Chris/Kurt’s physical appearance. Now Glee has done that many times before with their cast and I’ve hated it each and every time. I feel sorry for all the actors they’ve done it to, and sometimes it was basically bullying, e.g. putting a real Glee fandom hate-slur in the show itself, like calling the guy that played Brody a donkey face. With all those 'funny’ sneers at the Glee cast’s looks you’d think you’d almost get used to it,… almost. But imo there’s a difference between saying someone’s mouth resembles a fish’s mouth, or it resembling a cat’s ASS. Wtf? And though I’m sure none of the Glee actors like their physical 'flaws’ being exposed on their JOB by their goddamn BOSSES for millions of people to see, we know for a fact that Chris has felt uncomfortable and insecure when it comes to his teeth, and has fucking been bullied for YEARS for his voice in high school (and that bullying continued online by supposed 'fans’ while he was on Glee, and the writers know this). “…you’re a judgmental little gerontophile” (…) “Maybe he [Blaine] finally got freaked out by your strange obsession with old peoplethat causes you to skulk around nursing homes like one of those cats that can smell cancer.” ^This is a direct sneer at the episode Chris wrote himself (and it was Brad Falchuk who asked him to do so!) 'Old Dog, New Tricks’, and indirect it also was a sneer at Chris himself, who’s love for old people is well known. On top of that it’s ageist, and basically trying to shame Kurt/Chris for something that he should be appreciated for, not mocked. “Maybe Blaine got tired of hearing a shrill, self-aggrandizing lecture about how you felt the two of you were at the very apex of the gay rights movement every time you so much as cooked macaroni and cheese together. Or farted.” (…) “Maybe Blaine woke up one day and said, “you know what, I don’t want to marry a sexless, self-centered baton twirler.” (…) “So you know what, maybe that’s why it didn’t work out. Maybe it has nothing to do with me and Brittany. Maybe it’s just that you are utterly, utterly intolerable.” Now ^this kills 2 birds with one stone. First it firmly puts the blame of Klaine’s break up on Kurt, and although he was the one who initiated the break-up he wasn’t the only one to blame they couldn’t live together, again I might add. And it also retcons Klaine’s (very recent!) history, not only because it was Blaine and not Kurt who made Klaine’s engagement a political statement, but also by implying that Blaine broke up with Kurt, and didn’t want him anymore because Kurt was intolerable to live with, when season 5 has showed us quite differently, and the towel fight was about Blaine not being tolerant, not Kurt. But I guess it was too difficult for Brad to remember what was shown on screen(!) only 1 friggin’ week ago. “Maybe Blaine didn’t want to be with (…) someone who doesn’t dress like an extra out of one of Andy Dick’s more elaborate wet dreams.” (…) “Maybe Blaine grew weary of dating a breathier, more feminine Quinn Fabray.” ^Insulting Kurt’s clothes and effeminate traits. Well, it’s not like that’s something new on Glee, even after this show has preached obnoxiously about tolerance and everyone being allowed to be who they are. When Kurt (and Chris!) became the break-out character and icon for lgbtqia+ kids and was proudly trotted out at events like Trevor Live (till his straight ally co-worker got worshipped instead), promoting that it would get better, but it never really became better for Kurt, not even in New York City where the writers found it necessary for him to get gay bashed. ^These lines also heavily imply that effeminate Kurt is not good enough for an alpha male like Blaine. And hey, what a coincidence: Blaine is now dating a straight passing jock, and the writers have just introduced another straight passing gay football player on Glee to show Kurt even more what an embarrassment he is to the gay community. Also insulting Quinn Fabray and Dianna Agron as a nice side-effect as well. “Maybe he got tired of watching you drape yourself on every piano you happen past, to entertain exactly no one with, say some song that Judy Garland choked on her tongue in the middle of, or some sassy old Broadway standard made famous by another dead alcoholic crone.” ^Sneering at Kurt’s (and Chris’) song choices, when their 2 special snowflakes Rachel and Blaine are constantly being pushed as the 'Broadway Babies’ of the show. Even in this episode Dave mentioned Blaine being all into Broadway showtunes. And have the writers forgotten Chris suggesting e.g. Kurt’s wonderful 'Rose’s Turn’, 'As If We Never Said Goodbye’ and 'Being Alive’, all fan and media favorite songs, when they fucking asked him what song he’d like to sing on the show? They sure as hell loved to use Chris’ writer’s mind and love for musicals when they were too lazy to be creative themselves, back when they still listened to Chris’ suggestions that is. “Maybe Blaine woke up one day and said, “you know what, I don’t want to marry a sexless, self-centered baton twirler.” Okay,….sexless? Insulting someone’s sexuality/sex appeal now? When it was the show’s policy that denied Chris to roll up his sleeves and show some skin countless times, so his alpha male boyfriend would look more sexy, taller and muscular in comparison (although that was an utter fail imo). And the writers apparently forgot it was Kurt who brought up sex first to Blaine, initiated their first time, Kurt who complained they weren’t making out anymore in season 3 and not having sex in season 5. Kurt who was very willing to shag sexy Santa, and his ex at a wedding. And then there’s the “baton twirling”. What the hell? First of all it’s sai swords, not fucking batons, and it was Brad Falchuk HIMSELF who went the actor’s bleed lazy route by wanting Kurt to show off sai swords skills in 'The Greatest Star of All’, when Chris had his rightful doubts about that. Way to be ungrateful and stab someone in the back who only helped to make your show better. “Maybe I [Blaine] need someone who knows more than three dance moves: the finger wag, the shoulder shimmy, and the one where you pretend to twirl two invisible rainbow-colored ribbons attached to your hips.” Talking about being ungrateful and stabbing Chris (this has gone way beyond fictional Kurt now) in the back. Chris created those dance moves especially for Kurt, and the writers have utilized that funny quirk of Kurt multiple times on the show. And don’t get me started on the lack of dancing skills of some of the other cast members, but their characters never get called out on that. But what’s even more despicable about this line is that in 2011 the Single Ladies dance was deliberately added at the last moment to the live tour because RIB knew it would make the fans go crazy. And Brad and Ryan even stood in the front row salivating while Chris was dancing his ass off and making that song one of the highlights of the live tour with his unbelievable flexible gyrating hips and 'Kurt’ moves. Add to all of this that the things they mocked about Chris were used to say to Kurt that he wasn’t desirable, utterly intolerable and not worthy of being loved. Yes, you read that right: that was actually the worst part imo. And to make this dehumanizing and bullying rant appear 'justified’ and even getting celebrated and cheered on by a large part of the Glee fandom, they had Kurt publicly question a long anticipated proposal of a fan favorite couple, to make it look as if he "deserved it” when Santana “slayed”. This scene was a clear, direct attack at not only Glee’s break-out character Kurt, but also their only awards winning 'kid’ actor, who has been nothing but loyal to his bosses in public, has always worked hard and brought in critical acclaim and multiple nominations for the show, and who is a big part of its (fast lingering) success and popularity. Grown-up fucking adults who get way overpaid for the dreck they spit out every episode aimed this vicious rant on purpose at a young character and actor who gave nothing but pure quality acting and singing to their petty little show, and having it delivered by another actor who did the same but who somehow also seems to have fallen out of grace. So, anyone who thought that Santana’s rant was funny, right on point, and exactly what Kurt deserved, putting him “in his place”, can kindly GTFO now.

This entire topic makes me so angry and upset just looking back and seeing how badly Chris was treated on this show. Kurt definitely did not get "what he deserved", Santana was out of line, this rant was an unnecessary attack on Chris himself, and even Naya has said that this really upset Chris and they both hated filming it. Does anybody else get extremely mad that this scene exists? The entire rant wasn't even ABOUT Kurt at that point, it was just insulting and demeaning to Chris, who was upset by it as well. Naya and Chris both hated having to film that scene. I can't even imagine how Chris felt during that, it wasn't right. To sum up, RM clearly had it out for Chris and just HAD to screw him over with not only this rant, but starting from season three and on he literally made him a side character when he had such an important role and story-line. Chris and many other actors were treated horribly by RM during their time on Glee, and that. That is what I cannot stand. Ahhhh excuse me, I'm still pissed offfff :,)
Probably very few, considering Lea Michele didn't speak to Naya Rivera once during the shooting of season 6. I imagine it was very awkward to film. It actually just makes the scene funnier.

This just breaks my heart. 💔 How could they treat my sweet angel Chris like this? I mean he doesn't deserve that abuse, no one deserves that! The fact that he cried after this just makes me want to hug him, and reassure him that everything will be alright. I would also constantly remind him how beautiful he is, and what an amazing person he is.
I love this. This is why Santana is my absolute favorite character. She always has the best lines/rants and knows how to put people in check or back in their place. She's brutally honest and hilarious, Naya does a great job.
Am I the only thinking about how much fun, filming this scene would have been for Naya? She has always been amazing at delivery lines on cue but this, was brilliant! Definitely one of her best

Are R true tho. Like most people love to praise her for her sass and whatnot, but most of them probably couldn’t take it if they were actually friends with her in real life, considering she would probably bring up their deepest insecurities and use them as jokes/insults. I know I couldn’t handle that. People love to praise her and Sue but hate on Rachel, but I think we have acknowledge that we would probably hate/can’t stand most of these characters if we actually knew them in real life.
Some kind of conversation between Santana and Kurt before they are magically friends again would have been nice. Like "hey sorry I ruined your proposal" "yeah, well, sorry I viciously attacked you". It seems to me that the writers are not even trying anymore.
I love how rachel was like "see she's apologizing" during the beginning then starts getting real uncomfortable as soon as Santana starts talking about Klaine
This scene was iconic and funny and Santana had every right to do that, but I can't help but feel so freaking bad for both Chris and Naya for having to do that, I wish they would've made Santana only comment on Kurt's personality instead of talking about his looks too, it was just so mean of the writers to make Naya say those things to Chris while both of them were uncomfortable and Chris was really hurt by those words.

***** Quite often, yes she is. That said, she was 100% within her rights here. Kurt getting up and objecting to her proposal to Brittany, *during* said proposal, was *extremely* inappropriate. Had Santana been a guy, then (s)he would have likely punched Kurt out for trying to mess up the proposal! Things were made worse by the fact that Kurt cites the termination of his engagement to Blaine as a rationale - when *Kurt* was the one that broke the engagement! With no warning, no advance indication to Blaine that he was having second thoughts. He just broke it off, in a restaurant, after Blaine had arrived happily talking about how he'd found a caterer for the reception! Kurt would later regret having done that, and wanted Blaine back. But Santana is right to call him on his ****! Kurt is *massively* self-centered, and his engagement to Blaine failed because of *him*! So it was ridiculously rude for him to interrupt Santana's proposal just to use his own failure as a reason why nobody else should consider marriage. It's a lot like Kurt's Atheism, about which he is so militant that he restructured Burt and Carol's church wedding to dispense with a prayer he didn't want.

They even had to do multiple takes because Naya kept letting her feeling bad mess her up and Chris was apparently openly uncomfortable and hurt so Naya kept apologizing between takes and reminding him that she didn’t write it and doesn’t actually feel that way. The thing is, this would maybe be fine if the writers hadn’t written so many things that are Chris’ (Kurts actors) actual insecurities in the rant. Like the physical features. Naya has admitted that this was one of her least favourite scenes to shoot because she could see that the words actually hurt Chris and not just his character on the show.

Even though this was a scene both Naya and Chris disliked and felt uncomfortable doing, it also shows just how incredibly talented Naya was, she didn't show that she was uncomfortable. The way she was able to say her lines so quickly without even stumbling over a single word while being able to maintain Santanas' facial expressions and tone of voice while doing so was incredible. Naya was without a doubt a force to be reckoned with in the acting world, she definitely deserved to be in top movies, she had more talent in her little finger than half of these oscar winners/nominees that you see now have. R.I.P Naya, life really is a cruel joke sometimes.

She did an interview with Kevin and Tina from the show. They played some game and she revealed that she hated this storyline more than any other.

Kurt totally deserved this. Klaine was a super dysfunctional couple in the later seasons and they both obviously weren't ready with the commitments that come with marriage, but may I remind everyone that Brittana first of all, broke up mutually as they didn't want their relationship to strain from the long distance, NEVER cheated on each other, protect each other like it's their jobs, and are overall the most "match made in heaven" couple to ever grace Glee's existence? Was it in the selfish way she tried to manipulate Brittany into cheating with her behind Artie's back? Was it when she said Brittany was "so gullible, she could tell her that being with her was the law of the land" after she became Prom Queen? Or was it when, after they were together, using Rory to manipulate her into joining the Troubletones instead of just sitting down and talking with her, or, better yet, just understanding that Brittany wasn't ready to leave the ND yet, and just stick it out with her. Nope, making her believe the foreign exchange student was a leprechaun was totally better. Or that break up, when Santana made the decision that because she felt an attraction for another girl that they should split up because someday they would both be attracted to other people, and being apart made it less stressful. And then, when Brittany started dating Sam, Santana told Sam to back off because "the girl is mine". So, Santana felt it was better for them to break up as long as Brittany didn't date anyone else? Yeah, no, you're right. That totally should be filed under "match made in heaven" and "protect each other like it's their job". And no, they didn't cheat on each other, but Santana got Brittany to cheat on someone else, because that's what she did with everyone. Love Brittana if you want, but don't make them out to be this picture perfect couple. Brittany was someone who, in my opinion, viewed life differently, and season after season we got to see Santana manipulate that for her own gain. Whoo. Such health right there.

At first I didn't understand why Chris didn't want to act more or sing after Glee. But, damn, I just can't believe the writers would do him so dirty. They literally not only insulted his character, but they made fun of the actor's personal traits such as his voice, his smile, and him himself throughout the series. They fucked up his character so badly... It was just painful to watch. I mean, he got bullied for being gay, kissed without his consent, cheated on, almost raped, his father got a heart attack and later cancer, his step-brother died, he thought about killing himself, he didn't get into NYADA at first... And is there any compensation to the characters sadly insufferable plot line? HELL TO THE NO. I loved glee for the first 3 seasons, but it later became just difficult to keep watching. Poor Chris. He deserved so much better; as well as Kurt.

it's incredibly upsetting how what was seen as an "iconic moment" is just basically a chris colfer (kurt hummel) slander by ryan murphy (glee producer).
back in season 3, ryan was not satisfied with the fact that chris branched out as a ny times best-seller children storybook author and from that day onward, everything went downhill. in season 6 episode 3, ryan took advantage of the late naya's character, santana, to directly insult chris guised as his character kurt by attacking his real life insecurities such as the way he looks, sounds and his love for old people; which should be celebrated instead of shamed. ryan knows exactly what he'd done as there is a difference between attacking the character or the actor.
the script could have consisted of santana insulting kurt's neck scarf obsession or diva behaviour but instead ryan attacked chris' physical attributes. this fact is backed-up by naya's statement in kevin mchale (artie abrams) and jenna ushkowitz's (tina cohen-chang) showmance podcast in which she mentioned that the minutes-long rant was her least favourite santana moment because both her and chris were very uncomfortable doing the scene to the point that chris got visibly upset and almost tearful. she genuinely felt sorry that she apologised to him many times between takes but was powerless as she was just another actress forced to act out the offensive script given to her.
just a reminder, chris was the target of heavy bullying back in middle school because of his voice and sexuality to the point that he had to be home-schooled for over a year. he'd probably thought that as the years go by, people would be mature enough to lay off of him for being the only openly gay actor at work but turns out ryan was out to give him the same treatment on set like he got back in middle school. hence when being asked if chris wants to return for a possible glee sequel, he shuts it down by saying "that's not for me."

I think people should relax a bit and appreciate it for what it is: Naya Awesomeness. You're focusing on the negative things here. Yes, Santana said some pretty mean stuff (some of it deserved) but after 6 seasons can we expect anything less from her? The guy pretty much teared down one of the happiest moments of her life so of course she's gonna go tear him a new asshole.
But for Naya to remember all those lines, to not crack up at all and to get the emotion across....outstanding. How she never won an Emmy for this role is beyond me...

I have never seen them so happy & so in love!!! They sounded amazing together. Santana had changed so much I didn't even recognize her & she is hotter than hell in S6!! And contrast it to S5 to see how much happier they are. Take a look at my Brittany & Santana playlist & watch the 2 scenes I put back to back, jumping from the kiss in S5 when they were broken up to the duet & proposal in S6!! They are BEAMING in that duet!! I was like, "Wow, what a difference a year together made for these guys!"

I know it's a bit long, but it explains everything
Before I start this let me make one thing clear: although I will tag this also as ‘lol santana’ I don’t want to put the blame of that awful rant on her. But I’m afraid it also won’t be forgotten when there will be future posts about Santana and Kurt’s further interactions on Glee: she unfortunately did say that in canon and imo it sadly completely (should have) ruined Kurtana’s friendship.
So, this post is not about Santana, it’s about RIB (the writers), and especially Brad Falchuk. They are the ones who put those words in Santana’s mouth, thinking it perfectly okay and even 'funny’ to insult one of their main characters and actors in this vile way.
Let’s break down some of the things that were said:
“…with a mouth like a cat’s ass.” (…) “Maybe Blaine got tired of hearing a shrill, self-aggrandizing lecture…” (…) “Maybe Blaine didn’t want to be with someone who looks like they just removed their top row of dentures every time they smile…”
^Nice, insulting Chris/Kurt’s physical appearance. Now Glee has done that many times before with their cast and I’ve hated it each and every time. I feel sorry for all the actors they’ve done it to, and sometimes it was basically bullying, e.g. putting a real Glee fandom hate-slur in the show itself, like calling the guy that played Brody a donkey face. With all those 'funny’ sneers at the Glee cast’s looks you’d think you’d almost get used to it,… almost. But imo there’s a difference between saying someone’s mouth resembles a fish’s mouth, or it resembling a cat’s ASS. Wtf? And though I’m sure none of the Glee actors like their physical 'flaws’ being exposed on their JOB by their goddamn BOSSES for millions of people to see, we know for a fact that Chris has felt uncomfortable and insecure when it comes to his teeth, and has fucking been bullied for YEARS for his voice in high school (and that bullying continued online by supposed 'fans’ while he was on Glee, and the writers know this).
“…you’re a judgmental little gerontophile” (…) “Maybe he [Blaine] finally got freaked out by your strange obsession with old peoplethat causes you to skulk around nursing homes like one of those cats that can smell cancer.”
^This is a direct sneer at the episode Chris wrote himself (and it was Brad Falchuk who asked him to do so!) 'Old Dog, New Tricks’, and indirect it also was a sneer at Chris himself, who’s love for old people is well known. On top of that it’s ageist, and basically trying to shame Kurt/Chris for something that he should be appreciated for, not mocked.
“Maybe Blaine got tired of hearing a shrill, self-aggrandizing lecture about how you felt the two of you were at the very apex of the gay rights movement every time you so much as cooked macaroni and cheese together. Or farted.” (…) “Maybe Blaine woke up one day and said, “you know what, I don’t want to marry a sexless, self-centered baton twirler.” (…) “So you know what, maybe that’s why it didn’t work out. Maybe it has nothing to do with me and Brittany. Maybe it’s just that you are utterly, utterly intolerable.”
Now ^this kills 2 birds with one stone. First it firmly puts the blame of Klaine’s break up on Kurt, and although he was the one who initiated the break-up he wasn’t the only one to blame they couldn’t live together, again I might add. And it also retcons Klaine’s (very recent!) history, not only because it was Blaine and not Kurt who made Klaine’s engagement a political statement, but also by implying that Blaine broke up with Kurt, and didn’t want him anymore because Kurt was intolerable to live with, when season 5 has showed us quite differently, and the towel fight was about Blaine not being tolerant, not Kurt. But I guess it was too difficult for Brad to remember what was shown on screen(!) only 1 friggin’ week ago.
“Maybe Blaine didn’t want to be with (…) someone who doesn’t dress like an extra out of one of Andy Dick’s more elaborate wet dreams.” (…) “Maybe Blaine grew weary of dating a breathier, more feminine Quinn Fabray.”
^Insulting Kurt’s clothes and effeminate traits. Well, it’s not like that’s something new on Glee, even after this show has preached obnoxiously about tolerance and everyone being allowed to be who they are. When Kurt (and Chris!) became the break-out character and icon for lgbtqia+ kids and was proudly trotted out at events like Trevor Live (till his straight ally co-worker got worshipped instead), promoting that it would get better, but it never really became better for Kurt, not even in New York City where the writers found it necessary for him to get gay bashed. ^These lines also heavily imply that effeminate Kurt is not good enough for an alpha male like Blaine. And hey, what a coincidence: Blaine is now dating a straight passing jock, and the writers have just introduced another straight passing gay football player on Glee to show Kurt even more what an embarrassment he is to the gay community. Also insulting Quinn Fabray and Dianna Agron as a nice side-effect as well.
“Maybe he got tired of watching you drape yourself on every piano you happen past, to entertain exactly no one with, say some song that Judy Garland choked on her tongue in the middle of, or some sassy old Broadway standard made famous by another dead alcoholic crone.”
^Sneering at Kurt’s (and Chris’) song choices, when their 2 special snowflakes Rachel and Blaine are constantly being pushed as the 'Broadway Babies’ of the show. Even in this episode Dave mentioned Blaine being all into Broadway showtunes. And have the writers forgotten Chris suggesting e.g. Kurt’s wonderful 'Rose’s Turn’, 'As If We Never Said Goodbye’ and 'Being Alive’, all fan and media favorite songs, when they fucking asked him what song he’d like to sing on the show? They sure as hell loved to use Chris’ writer’s mind and love for musicals when they were too lazy to be creative themselves, back when they still listened to Chris’ suggestions that is.
“Maybe Blaine woke up one day and said, “you know what, I don’t want to marry a sexless, self-centered baton twirler.”
Okay,….sexless? Insulting someone’s sexuality/sex appeal now? When it was the show’s policy that denied Chris to roll up his sleeves and show some skin countless times, so his alpha male boyfriend would look more sexy, taller and muscular in comparison (although that was an utter fail imo). And the writers apparently forgot it was Kurt who brought up sex first to Blaine, initiated their first time, Kurt who complained they weren’t making out anymore in season 3 and not having sex in season 5. Kurt who was very willing to shag sexy Santa, and his ex at a wedding.
And then there’s the “baton twirling”. What the hell? First of all it’s sai swords, not fucking batons, and it was Brad Falchuk HIMSELF who went the actor’s bleed lazy route by wanting Kurt to show off sai swords skills in 'The Greatest Star of All’, when Chris had his rightful doubts about that. Way to be ungrateful and stab someone in the back who only helped to make your show better.
“Maybe I [Blaine] need someone who knows more than three dance moves: the finger wag, the shoulder shimmy, and the one where you pretend to twirl two invisible rainbow-colored ribbons attached to your hips.”
Talking about being ungrateful and stabbing Chris (this has gone way beyond fictional Kurt now) in the back. Chris created those dance moves especially for Kurt, and the writers have utilized that funny quirk of Kurt multiple times on the show. And don’t get me started on the lack of dancing skills of some of the other cast members, but their characters never get called out on that. But what’s even more despicable about this line is that in 2011 the Single Ladies dance was deliberately added at the last moment to the live tour because RIB knew it would make the fans go crazy. And Brad and Ryan even stood in the front row salivating while Chris was dancing his ass off and making that song one of the highlights of the live tour with his unbelievable flexible gyrating hips and 'Kurt’ moves.
Add to all of this that the things they mocked about Chris were used to say to Kurt that he wasn’t desirable, utterly intolerable and not worthy of being loved. Yes, you read that right: that was actually the worst part imo.
And to make this dehumanizing and bullying rant appear 'justified’ and even getting celebrated and cheered on by a large part of the Glee fandom, they had Kurt publicly question a long anticipated proposal of a fan favorite couple, to make it look as if he "deserved it” when Santana “slayed”.
This scene was a clear, direct attack at not only Glee’s break-out character Kurt, but also their only awards winning 'kid’ actor, who has been nothing but loyal to his bosses in public, has always worked hard and brought in critical acclaim and multiple nominations for the show, and who is a big part of its (fast lingering) success and popularity. Grown-up fucking adults who get way overpaid for the dreck they spit out every episode aimed this vicious rant on purpose at a young character and actor who gave nothing but pure quality acting and singing to their petty little show, and having it delivered by another actor who did the same but who somehow also seems to have fallen out of grace.
So, anyone who thought that Santana’s rant was funny, right on point, and exactly what Kurt deserved, putting him “in his place”, can kindly GTFO now.

This entire topic makes me so angry and upset just looking back and seeing how badly Chris was treated on this show. Kurt definitely did not get "what he deserved", Santana was out of line, this rant was an unnecessary attack on Chris himself, and even Naya has said that this really upset Chris and they both hated filming it. Does anybody else get extremely mad that this scene exists? The entire rant wasn't even ABOUT Kurt at that point, it was just insulting and demeaning to Chris, who was upset by it as well. Naya and Chris both hated having to film that scene. I can't even imagine how Chris felt during that, it wasn't right. To sum up, RM clearly had it out for Chris and just HAD to screw him over with not only this rant, but starting from season three and on he literally made him a side character when he had such an important role and story-line. Chris and many other actors were treated horribly by RM during their time on Glee, and that. That is what I cannot stand. Ahhhh excuse me, I'm still pissed offfff :,)

The fact that he cried after this just makes me want to hug him, and reassure him that everything will be alright. This scene was iconic and funny and Santana had every right to do that, but I can't help but feel so freaking bad for both Chris and Naya for having to do that, I wish they would've made Santana only comment on Kurt's personality instead of talking about his looks too, it was just so mean of the writers to make Naya say those things to Chris while both of them were uncomfortable and Chris was really hurt by those words.

Quite often, yes she is. That said, she was 100% within her rights here. Kurt getting up and objecting to her proposal to Brittany, *during* said proposal, was *extremely* inappropriate. Had Santana been a guy, then (s)he would have likely punched Kurt out for trying to mess up the proposal! Things were made worse by the fact that Kurt cites the termination of his engagement to Blaine as a rationale - when *Kurt* was the one that broke the engagement! With no warning, no advance indication to Blaine that he was having second thoughts. He just broke it off, in a restaurant, after Blaine had arrived happily talking about how he'd found a caterer for the reception!
Kurt would later regret having done that, and wanted Blaine back. But Santana is right to call him on his ****! Kurt is *massively* self-centered, and his engagement to Blaine failed because of *him*! So it was ridiculously rude for him to interrupt Santana's proposal just to use his own failure as a reason why nobody else should consider marriage.
It's a lot like Kurt's Atheism, about which he is so militant that he restructured Burt and Carol's church wedding to dispense with a prayer he didn't want.
