    Howdy RocketMan!
I own an X-ADV 750, and I think you absolutely hit the nail on the head. There are tons of bikes that are better and cheaper than the X-ADV.
With that being said, my X-ADV will probably be my last bike (until they turbo it, 50-ish HP is too little! 75-80hp would be Goldilocks perfect)
Why? Because the X-ADV does everything my 5 previous bikes could do to an acceptable degree. Also, I don't drive and it's not financially prudent for me to own more than 1 bike.
    It has:
    - comparable fuel economy to my smaller beginner bikes
    - on par (possibly better) touring capability to my bigger bikes
    - similar storage capacity to my vespa
    - auto transmission for city riding and traffic
    - manual mode for more "spirited" riding
    - ease of mind Honda reliability (subjective, I know)
    - sufficient off-road capability for going on gravel/dirt paths
To cap it off, _I can just do _*_more_*_ on the X-ADV than I comfortably would've _*_on any single one of my other bikes._* So while it's not gotten my heart racing like my 110hp Daytona Cam'd Steet Triple, I've already had more all-round fun on the X-ADV.
For perspective, I've owned and ridden:
    1. KTM 200SX
    2. Honda CB400 Super Four
    3. Husqvarna FE 350
    4. Ducati Scrambler Icon
    5. Triumph Street Triple 675R
    6. Vespa GTS 300
TL;DR It's all about your needs and what an acceptable level of compromise is for you!

The difference is that the Adv 350 is a scooter while the X ADV 750 is a motorcycle. A unique motorcycle that Honda designed and no other company sells, that's why it costs so much. The NC 750X is a simple ordinary motorcycle of which there are dozens like it. I live in the Mediterranean and all the Honda dealerships sell these bikes like crazy. Unfortunately in this life not everything is for everyone :)) Bravo to the Honda for this unique model that is permanently out of stock😢

Love the comment about riding a horse, getting on and off gracefully and the wide stance are my only gripes about the bike. My 2019 X-Adv is just perfect for the Scottish B-Roads. DCT really suits it and having the break lever on the left handlebar means better control of DCT at low speeds, easy dragging the back break. I have SW Motech Trax panniers so luggage space no problem. Road legal and safe driving the thing is fast enough. I have the older instrument panel which I think is super easy to get all info in a glance. I have the optional footpegs which I recommend to all owners as they make the twisty roads even more engaging. I would not dare take this hippo off road. Looks - no one ever commented on my NC750X, people ask about the scooter all the time.

    • @RocketMan_Moto

@@RocketMan_Moto Footpegs are so contributive for XAdv. First of all footpegs are so important for offload riding (and believe me this bike can offload) but secondly with footpegs XAdv becomes the ONLY bike you can change your riding position on tarmac. For long journeys it is so important for the sake off your ass and riding experience. On autobahn you position yourself like a scooter(long legs) and when twisties come you use the pegs for a more leaned position and the bike suddenly becomes a naked bike. No other bike i know of has this.

@@MrDjjecky I traded in my NC750X for the X-ADV because of the upgraded suspension with more travel and twin front breaks. Also the upgraded swing arm. The engine and performance I like on both models. Apart from those things it was a choice of style, I prefer the adv looks over the X. Personally I find the seating position is better for me on the avd and find it easier to corner with than the X. I would not go back to an X having owned the adv.

i think this bike truly appeals more to the maxi scooter market and less to other regular motorcycle riders. for those who love everything that maxi scooters offer, they'll get an additional advantage on its "off-road" capability over other maxi scooters, giving them the opportunity to explore more types of terrain with the same bike classification. while for riders who don't like to ride maxi scooters, they wont get the value that the xadv offers over any standard motorcycle of equal displacement or price range..love your reviews and more power!

Nicely done review. It is refreshing to see someone review the XADV without gushing all over it. It’s kind of moot for me to comment, as the XADV is not available on the market here in the U.S., but the concept does interest me. I think you are spot on in opining that it would be a good value at or near the price of the NC750. It certainly seems like the ADV350 is the smart buy, (once again not available to us here. The U.S. is not a scooter centric market.)

The most important problem with almost all the reviews of X-ADV is that the test machine lacks foot pegs. I've got those and they changes the bike a lot. Your body position is different, you can stand up easily. Only then it's proper ADV. I believe that Honda did a mistake not to include them in the standard version.

    • @RocketMan_Moto
      @RocketMan_Moto  2 ปีที่แล้ว

That's quite possible, although I believe the optional pegs are only of any use when you actually stand up. Is that correct?

      @mikaellindroos1594 ปีที่แล้ว +2

@@RocketMan_Moto no, i have 2017 mod. pegs, 70000km no problem. Pegs make it to a bike and then you have a choice to strechs your legs on longer rides. DCT and you will never go back to manual when you learn to use it.

    • @jrnasher
      @jrnasher 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@RocketMan_Moto for me the pegs are a game changer. I use the pegs most of the time around town and on spirited rides on country lanes. They enable better connection to the bike even when sat down. I only use the boards on longer rides/stretches or for shelter from rain.
Even on longer rides having the pegs gives you the ultimate variety of seating positions which can stop uncomfortable leg fatigue setting in.
I only stand on the pegs when I go over things like speed bumps as I don't take the bike off road.
I agree that Honda missed a trick not including them as standard.
But as an aftermarket accessory they're the best thing I've bought.

I've just moved up to an NT1100 but I had my XADV for 4 years and it was a great all-round bike. I don't quite understand your complaint on the power, this is a pretty good bike in that department and I kept up with much bigger bikes on Euro-tours by keeping it in 'Sports' mode (level 2 of the 3 available) and the mid range torque was great for traffic on country roads. I bought mine as an ex-demo with a good reduction in price. It also came with all the extras inc. heated grips and top box (which took care of the storage problem). The top-box also makes the bike look bigger and less scooterish. A big advantage (which rarely gets a mention but is very important) over the 'proper' scooters - with belt and variator, is the service interval which is 8K miles on this bike, double most scooters. I do agree with the criticism of the high price though, but if you can get a good nearly-new deal I would certainly recommend the XADV.

Finally rode one yesterday, I was looking at replacing my Tiger 1200 and Forza 300 with just one bike to do everything as the Tiger has done 300 miles in a year. Hardly used it since 2019 when I broke an arm and could only ride the GTS250 for several months. I wasn't blown over. Been looking and reading reviews for months and love the idea of a big scooter for everything. Commuting 10000 miles a year in all weathers I like the idea of fairings etc.
I agree with your comments. The first one who I feel really speaks what he feels, rather than the hype.
I thought the NC750X fitted perfectly as I rode that first, found myself at home, despite riding a Forza 300 since May and a Vespa GTS for 2 1/2 years.

I bought an X-ADV yesterday and I'm loving it. This is a bike for people like me. I own a few bikes and they're all different - a Honda SH350i, a Kawasaki ZZR1400 and a Triumph Tiger GT Explorer. The first one is a great scooter but the lack of weather protection and lowish power makes it a bit difficult in the UK countryside. The ZZR is a bloody beast but then because of the commuting traffic I don't enjoy riding it to work. The Tiger is a great bike but getting on and off is like mounting a horse (especially with the boxes on). And here comes the X-ADV 750 - easy to get on and off, powerful enough so it doesn't feel like it's abused during overtakes, frugal and very high quality parts, put together very well. I'm loving it!!! And just to be honest, I'll share that a month ago I wouldn't even look at a bike like this but I guess the heart changes. Very good review! And yes - it's expensive.

Hi, I'm not sure, I agree with everything you've said.
I have a 2018 Xadv and when you take into account how quickly it'll change gear it's not much slower a normal Adventure bike.
The one you were testing was missing the optional footpegs which give it the riding style of a bike instead of a scooter.
I've ridden mine across wet muddy tracks and grass stood up and with the pegs it makes much more sense.
The Xadv for me does everything I need it to.
Once you start to push on the more premium brakes/forks really come into their own and it'll happily keep up with most bikes in a lot of situations.
I've toured on mine fully loaded where the lazy engine makes for a relaxing time.
I would like a little bit more storage under the seat but I'd sacrifice that for handling and stability the bike has.

When I took the X-Adv in for a service I test rode the Africa Twin. My first impression was heaving it off the center stand. It feels way heavier than the X-Adv. That low slung center of gravity on the x-adv hides it's weight well. The DCT on the AT seemed rough in comparison in any mode. The AT was way more powerful and very fast in comparison and can go off-road. The thing is the X-Adv can not really be compared like-for-like with anything. It is creating its own category. The AT is a MORE expensive toy so on price surly you would take the X-Adv.

The AT isn't really a toy, though, it's a full-on motorbike capable of taking you around continents. I agree about the ADV 350's centre stand: I've stopped using it, lol

Hi V,aren't all bikes expensive toys to most of us?,only the minority that use them all year round to commute on would be exempt from describing their bikes as toys.As for travelling across continents id rather take an x adv than a full blown 1200cc adventure bike, fuel economy for one,but mine is far comfier than my superten was,my only small gripe is chain and not a belt which i think would of been far superior.I juggled with an AT adventure sports but went for the fuel economy and cheaper servicing, also i personally love the look of the ADV,i am still trying to bump into another owner but as yet never seen another onnroad in uk.

I haven't ridden the X-ADV 750, I currently own an Africa Twin Adventure Sport with DCT. Most of the reviews I have come across seem to like the ADV they say it's fun to ride and a good bike, I agree it is alot of money, but look at the yamaha TMAX 560 Tech Max that costs even more and has a very loyal fan base and both Honda and Yamaha have sold a lot of these machines, clever marketing? or good bikes that some people will pay the money for? Thankfully we are all different and can make our own choice.

If you want an "Adventury"-ish big displacement scooter that does more than a regular scooter then it is absolutely for you. I would get a sportbike but my license grade doesn't allow for anything higher than 47HP (there's a governed version of the XADV locally). You also get the nice DCT actual gear change feeling instead of a crappy-drone-y variator that blows your ears after 15 minutes on the highway at over 110kmh. The XADV is not for everybody, matter of fact it is not for most people, but I think Honda nailed it for a very small part of the population who need exactly this motorcycle.

I agree with all your points. I have owned both. Well the Forza 750 rather than the X-ADV, however it is 95% similar.
The two crucial points are, (and you make these):
Is the X-ADV worth twice the price of the ADV350?: No.
Is the performance very different? No. Most people will not notice a 0-60 time of 5sec, being significantly different to a 0-60 time of 7sec.
Would you rather have a CVT scooter with no weekly chain maintenance? I would.
If you like DCT, as Rocket points out, the NC750 is much better value. Be aware you are paying £1000 extra for this transmission, and its adding 10kg to your kerb weight. (The NC750 is also available - manual).

Hi RM, Where to start, I owned a 2019 X-ADV for two years and have to agree totally with your findings, for me, it was the most boring bike I've (ever) owned, the main thing for me is, they have to replace that 1/2 block JAZZ engine, it's just not suitable for a "motor bike" if you try using manual gear shifting, you hit the rev limiter all the time in any gear, as for riding outside of a town, you just do not have the oomph to make "safe" overtakes (perhaps that's a safety feature), although strangely, because you are very well protected from the elements, without realizing, I always found myself doing (on open roads) 90mph and 40+mph in 30 zones (not so safe). Regarding comfort, because of the that protection from the elements, I thought it might make (with luggage) a good bike for touring, however, as you mentioned, with that feet forward, 90⁰ knee seating position, you are holding yourself with your back, and after about 30min it really made my back ache, so for me that even ruled out using it as a touring machine. As for manhandling, at 79 years old, I found it one of the better bikes to push around and into my garage (the worst being a VFR CrossRunner). As Nakross done, for perspective comparison, I will list my previous bikes:-
    1959 125 Vespa (came off 4 times)
1980 Honda CX500 (scared me in the rain)
    2000 Suski 250
    2001 ER5
    2002 Honda CBR 650
2003 Honda Hornet 900 (owned for 10years, my best bike)
2013 Honda VFR CrossRunner (worst bike I've ever had)
    2015 Tiger 800 XRX
    2019 Honda X-ADV
2021 Tiger 900 GT PRO (current, best bike after Hornet)
    Cheers, Gordon

@@RocketMan_Moto Thank you RM, Yes. I do in general like Honda as the quality is "usually" good and they have plenty of dealerships here in East Kent, however, I was hoping they would replace that JAZZ engine (which for its capacity, it's power is way below other 750cc engines) with a small capacity AT engine, instead, they bring out that non-descript NT1100, which to me doesn't seem to fulfill any particular market segment (no shaft drive etc), I would have thought that a much improved engine would have made the NC/X-ADV range much more competitive and popular, and they would have sold far more bikes than a few NT1100's. Thats my rant over, the big question is --- why the heck did I buy that really, really expensive bike, it must have been a moment of senile madness !!! 👴Cheers, Gordon

I am currently riding the same bike as you (XL750) and am considering a scooter or DCT to remove the need for changing gear. I am 69 and have Arthritis.
I am interested in the X-ADV but a bit put off when you made me realise how expensive it is, for what it is.
I am currently working out a price comparison with the NC750x DCT which does not have some of the gear that is standard on the X-ADV, I will share when done.
I have read your review of your ADV350 and it sounds great for what I want. But when I sat on one the handlebars felt a little too close (6' 1") for me.
One thing that puts me off scooters is the lack of the fuel tank to wrap your legs around for added control.
The other thing that is bugging me is the Roadsync app and the dash on the XL750 are so good that I am reluctant to change.
Now if they brought out an XL750 DCT maybe...What do you think?

    • @RocketMan_Moto
      @RocketMan_Moto  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Scooters are great once you get used to 'not having a tank', I certainly couldn't do without ours. They can feel a bit cramped after a 'normal' bike, but again, you do get used to it. Personally, I think this X-ADV (or the Forza 750) are ridiculously expensive for what they offer. The NC750X is a much more tempting proposition, but try the ADV / Forza 350 first to see which suits you best.

    • @blackskunk54
      @blackskunk54 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@RocketMan_Moto OK, thanks. I did ride scooters 50 yrs ago and loved them for simplicity and customising.
I did the NC750x DCT comparison.
The NC came out at £9170 when spec'd to same level as the Forza 750/X-ADV, £10400/£11200.
However, the NC doesnt have the TFT dash/Roadsync which I am prepared to pay £500 for, similarly wire wheels £500, comfy seat £250.
Now the total is £10420. This is how I justify buying bikes.
As you can see the NC is now more expensive than the Forza and quite close to the X-ADV.
So for me if the F or X are much more comfy, or have better ergos, they would be a possibility for me
The obvious alternative is to buy a used F or X,
      eg Forza 2021 £8000
      eg X-ADV 2020 £9000 (full luggage)
      eg X-ADV 2018 £6500 (old dash)
This all gets thrown out the window if I was happy with the 350's, F or A £5900
A lot to think about especially as i like the looks of the 350s and they have very good lights, important to me.

The XADV I test rode didn’t have the foot pegs, on motorway speeds I felt really unstable with my legs/feet forward. If they removed the footboards and just had pegs, the boards were also too narrow for my size 11 feet. Overall I liked it, but as you say the price is too high.

Interesting. I found it very stable, but I didn't take it on the motorway (there's only one down here). My feet are size 10, and were ok, but I'm used to the cramped boards on the ADV 350. Price is way too high for what the bike offers, though, that's for sure :)

Handling is very good I think you just don't have skills to actually check capabilities of this mashine! You have right to your opinion i apretiate your effort. You scored this bike very low.... I think you have difrent explanation.... I love my x adv for its looks I think looks like nothing there adv 350 looks cheap to me I woudl not buy it... Breaks and handling of 750 xadv is great too comfort is also great done 1200 miles in 4 days and no discomfort at all comers to my friends on their sports tourers. Economy also is very good done 200 miles on 10.5 liters of fuel..... Storage well you can get top box amd pa iers from givi and kappa and taht will cost you around 500 pounds for everything! Storage under seat is enough for shoping I have oem top box amd kappa paniers and I have lots of storage! I love this bike I had it for 7 moountgs now and done over 5 k miles I love it is easy to ride and you can do anything on it very well even light offroad!about the price well in uk you can get second hand ones for 6 k or 2021 with less then 1k miles for 9.5 k I woudl 100 times prefer used x adv 750 with small milage then new 350 if I woudl want to buy Scotter for only town is no point buying 350 125 is plenty! 750 is more power full and cvt belt is well to not use bad words I don't see a point! On xadv you can change gears as well amd you have 4 mods amd traction control and gravel mode suspention and breaks are much better then nx 750 x and in my opinion looks like nothing made yet.... Sales shows that honda had very good success with this. I've owned lots of Tmaxs (OK, they don't go off-road!), but whilst Yamaha build quality is declining and reliability has been unimpressive, they are SO much fun to ride. In my opinion there is no comparison between the 350 and the 750 as one is a scooter and the other one is just awesome (yes, i have one) :D. Only problem of the DCT engine is the low speed constant gearing (you can resolve that by switching to manual gears). And no, the problem of picking the NC 750 X (even being much cheaper) is.... it's an horrible looking bike (in my opinion). The windscreen on the adv also is amazing at any speeds. It's super comfortable cruising and highways to do any kind of distance. I'm very happy with it (i have the previous model but there is not much difference). It is an heavy bike for the constant stopping inside the city, but has a low center of gravity, so very agile to maneuver. Go on....switch your 350 for the 750 ;)

I agree, it is overpriced compared to the 750x.

Table is just unfair: 5/10 in quality for the Tracer 900 GT vs 7/10 for the NC750X. Not-a-chance. Owned several Honda and now the Tracer 900 GT. Just look at the swingarms. NC750X is china-poor quality. Even owners and Honda fanatics complain.

Not really sure why you’re getting so upset. It’s only a bit of fun. If you like your Tracer, then I’m happy for you😀👍

@@112deeps Some parts are horrible. Swingarm, some plastics, many metallic parts. In 2 years corrosion sets in. Around here people swap NC750 every 2 or 3 years. They look terrible after a very short time.

Just another Honda DN-01. Overpriced, unnecessary and I suspect it will be similarly short lived.

I have owned an x_adv 750 for a year now. I think you have not factored in an important aspect of it: it is great fun! And that is why Honda sell it (in large numbers). It is also more of an event compared to an NC750X. I have toured on it to and it does just great. The extra pegs are a must to ease one's legs.

This sells because it is a "SUV" so its neither perfect for montain neither for city, but it looks cool 🤷🏻‍♂️ so its a matter of personal prefference. And yes it does look cool and have enough punch for everyday rider, city... highway and if you want to go for picknick on the weekend at your nearest valley/town. Price is what it is just like any other SUV car
