Thank you for this video. Helped me out a lot. Ive been enjoying the sun for a few days not worrying about the roof being stuck open. Tomorrow has rain in the forcast and you saved me. My issue is the emergency brake light wont go on preventing the top to work.
Really great job on the video. The process is explained so well. It worked perfectly. I reversed the position of post 25 and 27 to open the top as well. I plan to order a replacement relay but I first wanted to ask you if there is any possibility that my issue could be a problem with one of the safety shut-offs; ie. #18 (Speedometer) or #15 (parking Brake) etc. Is there any way to test? I just wanted to be sure before I shelled out the money for a new relay.
Thanks and very helpful in event of rain. Worked perfectly. I replaced my relay but still not working without override. Do you know what sensors/switches this process bypasses to help figure out a permanent fix? thanks
Great video! The top on my '00 986 non-S won't open. I hear the relay click and it sounds like the motor wants to start, but stops quickly. Any suggestions???
It can be done, but it is difficult to do on the bench since this is really several relays and switches built into one. We use a known good used unit to substitute and verify if it is faulty. You can email us for assistance with this.
Hello , Any idea what it could be causing the top moving very slow when i closed it, some times i have to push the top in order to help the motor to close it up.
Hi.. I operated my roof manually to close it, later on adjusted as per instructions.. & calibrated it.. till calibration everything is ok, but as you know after calibration, roof will go to the rear of car( fully open)... From here I can't open the roof with the help of switch, there is click but it doesn't work... But if I raise it manually like 30-40 cm, than it works, any idea what could be wrong ? There is no fault code, I have replaced a cylinder..
Thanks for the info. How did you find out which Microswitch was bad? So my top was not closing. I got a new battery and still would work. I left the car alone for a day and all of sudden it works like magic. I am so puzzled. I wonder if I should change out the Microswitch while the top is still working because I don’t want to engage with the manual operation.
@@hl2408 see all of the microswitch has some functions, you can check most of them by removing separately, & then check manually with a multimeter... Check all one by one.. or you can check with a scan tool while operating them... I guess in your case 1st check if there is any fault code for roof... you can try calibration of roof as well with a scan tool before dismantling anything
Thanks. By scan tool. Do you mean durametric? I love my 996 but one of the headache is the top. I am not too afraid of the Ims nor the bore scoring actually because the top is so complicated. My s2000 was so reliable.....
Someone please help, on my 99 boxster I used this to put my top down after it randomly stopped working and it worked like a charm, ordered a new relay and it worked flawlessly however the next day it stopped working again! I checked the handbrake issue, the switch in the top latch, and the switch that makes the top go up or down. Could there have been something that blew out my original relay and my brand new one??
I know I must be thick, but I don't understand what swapping 25 and 27 means. Can you say what pins 25 and 27 get jumpered to for opening the top. Thanks!
Most of trouble assigned to the softtop is causing disfunctional of microswitches. Buying a relay for about $200 and finding out it wasn't the cause, really hurts.
This saved me a big headache today!
My top stacked open and I checked the fuses, moved the double relay in the socked and it works, thank you.

Thank you so much for taking time to make this video. You really saved our bacon.
I'm trying to prove a point that my relay is my problem but need to know which pins open it? any help would be great
For clarity to future viewers : open is 27 - 22 and 25 - 23 ( top to bottom and side to side )

Hi, do you know if it's all the same in the 997? Thanks
Is there a trick to getting the protective cover off the relay? There seems to be a plastic protector that is giving me fits.
Can you please make a video of this opening... so to close 25-22 ground 27-23 power to close is it 27-22, and 25-23?
Did doing 27-22, 25-23 open the roof?
Thank you for making this video. You saved me a lot of time
Awesome video
What combination of wires will open the top. Mine won’t come down. Just want to verify the relay is faulty
Thanks
Great information. What is the sequence to jumper if I want to open a top? I would like to get my hardtop on for the winter.
Pause the video on the spot where it shows what I wrote on the back of the relay. Swap wires 25 and 27.
Cheers mate.. just what I needed to know 👍 your a super star 💫

Ditto. Same symptoms with my Boxster and it won't open. 27-22 and 25-23 jump did not help. Any suggestions anyone?
I learned a lot from you today.THANK YOU!
Dude you saved my life ❤️
Nice video. Can you point me to diagnostics as to how you determine the relay is bad?

That sounds like a bad top motor. It's about 2 Die completely on you, most likely.
Or your conv top slider channels need lubrication.
I have a 2005 Porsche boxer sent roof down now nothing works cannnot find the relay can’t see any other delay above fuse box
Real helpful thank you, what's the configuration to open, you only demonstrated how to close it, mine don't open.
swap 25 and 27
correct
How do I open it though
Is it 27-22 and 25-23 to open?

What about opening the top that is stucked?
Thanks for this video 👌🏻

@@sosdiagnostics1800 would you do the same for me?
Thank you for the movie.
I plugged it up the way you showed and the top went down not up ?
Interesting. Did you try the other option shown on the relay in the video?
Chad Edwards was it backwards
Knowing that the relay from the Porsche dealer is $220, I closed mine. I would like to open it, which pins should I use for that.
just swap pins 25 and 27

Mate change your name to Angel. You're one sent from heaven 😊. Can you please translate all the other pins? Thanks so much.
See this video: th-cam.com/video/xntJKWZpFac/w-d-xo.html It explanes how to messure all contacts and switches.
@@petergommers2333 thanks buddy. Appreciated.
Brilliant video well done
I wish people would use the terms open and closed instead of up & down because there’s always confusion and conflicting meanings.
A fused jumper?? I feel like that's kinda going against the spirit of a jumper... Which is to be sketchy as frig
great info thank you
why not buy a new relay ..?
