@ USC looked like a team playing in a rivalry game, at home, with their backs against the wall, still got beat by 14, on a day when the defense didn’t play well….(but came up clutch on back to back series’!) and ND haters, “hate that”! ✌🏽
The USC quarterback threw 2 picks in a little over 2 min for two TD's and 199 yards. I would think that would be a record for average yards per pick resulting in TD, with a minimum of 2.
I think the really interesting piece here is Maiava was making pro-level throws and this receiver group was making pro-level grabs. USC came with their A grade offensive performance and moved the ball. I would be curious to see what QBs in the playoff picture could make some of these throws the way Maiava did. Which is a crazy sentence to type.
Particularly good and particularly bad plays should be weighted more. Maiava was cooking but two pick sixes should be heavily weighted because they literally cost the game.
Not gonna lie USC torched us through the year and they picked on our freshman corner as they should hopefully the defense tightens up and it was just a bad defensive performance
Notre Dame won by playing to its strength the run game. Defense was bound to have a hick up but made the plays when needed. This team is dangerous in the playoffs with the ability to wear down teams
Its so satisfying after all of the shit that was talked about notre dame to know they are 100% a top contender for the championship. Theres not a single team hoping to play us. For the LOVE of god... please give us an sec team at night in south bend. 9 degrees, snow on the ground😂. It will be a molly whopping. Theres no sec team who can line up play after play in the snow in deep waters. ND has been in deep waters for 10 straight weeks😂. These boys are only losing to a team that is just straight up better than them for 4 quarters. They wont fold under pressure.
360 passing yards and 5 total touchdowns is why. I disagree with PFF in that it probably doesn’t subtract pick-6s like it should, but him putting up 360 and scoring five times on a great D also happened and it’s impressive graded on that curve. Maybe you think the ND defense easily gives up that many yards but I firmly disagree.
@@BiggNewt Notre Dame did not go into their prevent defense while only up one score. Don't take my word for it, the full-game replay is there th-cam.com/video/jISsQHdNXIk/w-d-xo.html
@shadowedfang2098 they went shell defense and stopped blitzing, the last pick 6 was because they finally blitzed again and he panicked. I watched the game twice already.
@BiggNewt ND choosing to stop sending pressure doesn’t negate the throws that QB made to drive up the field before those two pick-sixes. It’s like PFF is ignoring the pick-sixes and you’re ignoring the good throws he had on those drives before them (the first one in a one score game). Both happened and both matter. The kid also just had played a great game up to that point. Your team won and you’re just in here to hate I don’t understand lol
As noted by the LA Times, “USC coach Lincoln Riley has imprisoned the Trojans in a cycle of mediocrity; USC’s loss to Notre Dame confirmed coach Lincoln Riley is short on playmakers and has blocked Trojans fans from even dreaming of championships”.
First of all, LA Times is GARBAGE. Second, Lincoln Riley has plenty of playmakers that other teams (including ND) would love to have on their teams. Lincoln Riley's biggest problem is his belief that he can out scheme anyone on offense (not true) and that playing physical football and controlling the clock is not important (100% true).
I think he has the best receiving core in the country and they’re all Sophomores. The trenches are where they lose games and that’s why they can’t close. They don’t have a run game and they can’t stop the run. The firepower is not the issue here.
@natekeller1569 they do have a run game. Woody Marks is a fine RB and the backups are talented too. SC's OL is good at the run game and SC has great success when the run-pass ratio is balanced. SC's problem under Riley will always be his pass happy philosophy when he should slow down the game, control the clock, and give his defense a chance to rest. No DC will ever succeed under him because his offense scores too quickly at times which allows the opposing offense to march right back against an exhausted defense.
@ Yeah that’s more so what I was getting at. Every air raid team has some success rushing because of their tendency to throw the ball like 70% of the time. Their problem is when the situation is obvious or when the game gets tight and you need to win in the trenches to close, they can’t. You can be the most explosive offense but if you don’t have any will to scheme up creative run plays or recruit dogs in the trenches, this team will always be the flashiest 7-5 NIL money can buy.
Do you think Lincoln Riley was right to make the QB switch this season?
Love #4 running like Walter Payton last night
Love is sensational.
82 pff grade for him with 3 broken tackles!
Most dominate nd team i have seen in a while
Maaaaaan these comment sections are quiet as H3LL EVERYWHERE after ND wins a game!!!🤔
USC looked dominant and Irish fans hate that😂

You'll still lose and not win a Natty. Another "this is the year" disappointment for ya! 🤣🤣
@@onedirtyharry7212 so will 11 other teams in the playoffs! 🤣🤣
Come back when you start with who your team is! 🥱

Threw for more yards in turnovers than he did for positive offense.
ND’s defensive backs were exhausted after traveling across the country in one week

They can likely win the trench battle against 90% of CFB teams
@PFFCFB agree they don't need to rely on the passing game as much as other teams plus add a athletic defense they might surprise people
If we were only able to keep MAIAVA!! #unlv

91.9 with 2 terrible throws for pick 6s. Alrighty.

@shadowedfang2098 I watch the games and understand context. Junk yards in prevent defense in garbage time doesn't supercede two bad throws for pick 6s
