Wow! 1670 ft of the Federal Montreal and the Paul R Tregurtha reminded me when I was a kid our local TV station would occasionally broadcast a Godzilla double feature...📺📣⚓
You and me both! Just kidding, the camera make it look like I am closer to them then I actually am. I do need to use both eyes on the riding though for those "jump outs" that happen.
Every time I see a something named Montreal going to Minnesota , I think of Steve Payne, Bobby Smith ,Curt Giles Craig Hartsburgh ,Don Bupre And the rest of the Minnesota North Stars who upset the Montreal Canadians in the playoffs in 80 it was one of the highlights of a Toronto Maple Leafs,Southern Ontario 16 yr old fan of this channel .Funny how a good video makes your day, thanks Mr.Paul😊🍁 😁 Ps they were Truly NORTH STARS !North Stars, ⭐️😍
How about this, FM has the Costco horn, same as the AA, Oberstar, IH, Mark B, Lee T. Quite a surprise. And the PRT horn has never sounded better, apparently they tweaked it. Big thumbs-up on the horns today
I did, just did not add it to this departure since the bridge went down after the PRT arrived. I also figured it would be too long of a video for people to watch. Thanks.
Dark layer on Duluth ship canal ( or any where) more than likey caused by wash from passing boats or loaded boats pressing down into water causing ship canal water level to rise.
Paul, 2 questions. Do the Lakes have tides or something similar? I noticed dark layers on the sides of the canal above the water level. How do you get these fast tracking shots. I thought about a drone, but that would be dangerous flying in among all those people. One more succinct report into your ever-expanding library!
The lakes do not really have a measurable tide, they do have a seiche, which is a (atemporary disturbance or oscillation in the water level of a lake or partially enclosed body of water, especially one caused by changes in atmospheric pressure.) The tracking shots are done via my bike and hand holding the video camera. Low tech huh 😁. Thanks Roboftherock.
Usually, at least 1 arrival and departure per day, some days we have had 6! It really varies day to day. For example, today's schedule has 7 vessels today! 4 departing and 3 arriving.
OMG you go alone with the boat and see everybody at the same time. Your steady with the camera thats for sure.
That is a BIG vessel! I bet that bends a lot in a storm!
Rare occasions for 2 ships to come in at the same time
Thank you for posting the Scanner banter. Those tugs are the unsung hero's of the Lakes.
They sure are! thanks Lynn.
Got our money’s worth here. Federal Montreal, PRT, and some tug action. Really nice turnout as well. Really nice piece.
😁 Thanks Greg!!

Glad you enjoy it! fortunately for me it doesn't get old either!
I love the radio it gives so much atmosphere
What a beautiful picture the beautiful ship against the sky line, 😳 wow
Great catch Paul. Even better that your fiend on the Queen recognized you and called out. Nice crowd too. Pretty cool. Thanks.
Thanks!!
Awesome boats
Great video work
The radio chatter is my favorite.
What a great video! The lighting on the Federal Montreal was perfect. Lovely salute from the Paul R. That radio was BUSY.
Glad you enjoyed it! It was a busy arrival (s)!
Great “twofer”! I’m also amazed at how you thread your way through the people, Paul.

Wow What A Great Video I Enjoyed It😊
Thank you very much!
Great video of the Tregurtha near the end.
Thanks!
Thanks for the video, Paul. Interesting to see the double arrival of two big freighters within a few minutes. 👍🏽
Glad you enjoyed it, it seems to have happened more often this season than I remember in the past.
Very very cool!! Isn't the Tregurtha the longest ship? Longer than the James R?
It is, all the other ones come it a 1004, or 1000

Nice memory! Thanks Jay.
My truck needs Tregurtha horns.
Mine as well!
@@PaulScinoccaso does my car ! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Good crowd of onlookers, family groups, too.
Nice double header! Obviously you are very well known among the crew members!
Thanks Kevin!
Can’t watch this enough. Perfect hat trick! Thanks.
Great catch Paul!!
Thanks!

I do think most of those FEDNAV ships have been fitted with good horns! I do consider you the horn expert!

Indeed he was!
Dumb question who is Noise ?Maybe the Pilot, I also grew up with a family whose last name was Noise .🙂🍁
@@jayhopkins6990 Yes The Pilot
Hi Paul very nice catch with two vessels inbound, if you also would have filmed the outbound ship it would be too awesome.....
I did, just did not add it to this departure since the bridge went down after the PRT arrived. I also figured it would be too long of a video for people to watch. Thanks.
Beautiful camera work. I would love to go there but at 75 don't know if I can do the drive,
What was making the banging noise in the hull of that one ship?

Nice one two punch! Hold that bridge! Did feel sorry for the 3rd freighter waiting to leave. Hope the car traffic wasn't too heavy.
It all worked out, they slowed it down at Rice's point and waited for them to pass. I think about 15 minutes later they departed.

What's the frequency of ships
Usually, at least 1 arrival and departure per day, some days we have had 6! It really varies day to day. For example, today's schedule has 7 vessels today! 4 departing and 3 arriving.
@@PaulScinocca ok but what radio frequency r ships on
@@Dale-qi9uy lol, I was wondering if I misinterpreted that? The ships are on Marine Band, usually channels 10 and 16.
Big crowd
It sure was!
The Paul R Tregurtha is as long as a Nimitz Class Aircraft Carrier.
Two good ships but the queen is the best
I will not disagree with you!
Longer than the twin towers
