would really like 1 interim step like wolfy asked for the penance brand gear. i've been trying to use different combinations of gear and not sure how to scale the damage without swapping to hexblast setup

Quick tip for heist: If you're scared that you won't be able to complete heist (if you die on going out on alarm you lose all contraband items) you can go back from heist area and all items become clear. Then you can go again and complete it.

It took me a while to understand an rebuild your Build. But it is awesome!! I got it working with around 10 Divine. T16 is absolutely no Problem. I will Test T17 tomorrow.
Hey bro, just wanted to say this build is awesome. I had a few hiccups during leveling, but since I had a lucky drop with my gladiator that was my league starter, I had 15 divs to play with and was able to gear up pretty much the whole build when I got to lvl 85 or so. Tried a few Sanctums, but it didn't click with me at first, I sucked, failed a few and decided to leave Sanctum alone for a bit. Just mapping with this build is pretty satisfying though, throwing mines and deleting packs of mobs, and the damage on single target is nice. A few days ago I decided to try Sanctum again, I watched a few guides this time to make sure I wouldn't fuck up. I started to consistently finish Sanctums, and just by farming I am making about 25-30 divs a day, which is pretty nice, and I'm not even fast or efficient at it. But today, I hit the jackpot. After my 60th Sanctum or so, I dropped THE ORIGINAL SCRIPTURE. I was in absolute disbelief when I picked that thing off the ground. I think that's the single most valuable item I dropped in all of my thousands of PoE hours. This may be the first time I get my hands on a Mirror of Kalandra in PoE, if I manage to sell this thing (0 chance I'm going to try to run it myself, lol).

YAY!!! I started this last league and had my most successful league by far - even though i completely botched the sanctum start at first and really only got into doing sanctums like a week and a half in. still managed to afford my first mageblood and hit a total net worth of probably ~400div before i stopped playing last league. cant wait to not botch the start this time (since i now have actual sanctum experience) and see how much more i can do!

with 20c budget on league start you can be crit cap by lvl 73. Maw of Conquest helmet + Light of Lunaris shield. boots+belt+amulet+rings to fix resistances without killing kitava of cause. regular penance brand with crit mastery +150crit on enemies with full life and lightning wheel by eldritch battery +100 crit chance if you have skitterbots to pre shock enemies. everything adds up to 99+- crit chance and 506 multi without assasin mark. planning to go with two Call of the Brotherhood if price isn't too crazy for juicy freezes on guards
This is the build that broke my RF standard for league start. It was wonderful. Once I saw the Capt do the keystone bosses with shit gear I was sold and it’s been amazing every time I have built it. I hope it’s as good or better come 3.25 woot! I watching vid now
i just want to caution everyone. at 68 assuming you leveled with firestorm, there is 0% chance you have ur penance brand at a decent level, and u wont have ur other gems properly leveled, he is also using quality on eblade which is a massive buff. You might be able to do the quest tier 68sanctum they give you, but even like 75-76 will be tough runs. If you can level stuff in weapon swap, and run more of the heists(atleast check the market every level). Also theres a massive difference between regular penance brand and the alt qual one. Video isin't bait the builds awesome! 68 tho might be... honestly luck based, if you get a tough affliction run you might brick it . Temper expectations for sure, The start is gonna be very bumpy. also crown of the inward eye is better if ur not planning to play hexblast
old comment, but gem levels don't matter as much in this build since you already geta ton of flat from energy blade/spell blade combo so the flat you get from levels is less noticable. This is why he has a lower level hexblast in his final pob too cause it relaly doesn't matter that much and costs less mana res. Similarly you will get qual from lab for energy blade while farming for the alt quality penance brand.

I played tri stack in the Necropolis League to the extent that I built a tri stack with 1.5 mirrors and earned 3 mirrors . From that experience I understand that adorned and helical ring play a very important role in the tri stack, but they have been nerfed. This nerf is expected to be very hard on this build.
I played this last league and despite normally doing a lot of sanctums each league (like 1 week of farming them straight each league since tomes got introduced), I failed my first two sanctums (one quest book and I spent rest of my currency on a second one) and had to do some very uncomfortable rerolling. Maybe it's a skill issue, but I would say going shockwave totem on hiero or any hexblast shadow is a much better way to go about starting sanctum early. If you mess this up like I have, you can't really do maps easily, so please make sure to take this into account. This is nothing against this build guide or Lance - he makes some really great stuff.

I asked about it the other day, but I do wanna know a bit more about ROTP. What does a normal ROTP build look like? Until now I have only been using gimmicks to hit the appropriate reservation efficiency, like the Kalandra flipped ring and blood nodes from the warlock in affliction.
Im probably going to do this start once again while people figure out more or less whats good for melee, looking either at a berserker or warden, the currency you get from sanctum just feels so good early
hey! I played this last league and it was really good. The only issue I had was with uber lab, I had to deactivate energy blade and change to life gear before the boss or make 0 mistakes with the traps. Do you have any recommendations about this?
One thing that I find works super good with the weighted sums stuff you setup for people is to instead of sort by cheapest, put in how much currency you want to spend in the 'buyout price max' field (for example 5c), then do the search and sort by weighted sum.
I'm late to the energy blade party as I only found your stuff recently but as a build template it looks fascinating. I'll be doing some dry runs this week of starters and this is definitely in there. Got to say I'm not sold on the aesthetics of the templar in a ghostwrithe - the stuff of nightmares lol.
Do you happen to have a POB for an endgame Penance Brand Sanctum farmer? I've been looking around at various sources and I'm not sure how to sort out the data.
Unpopular opinion: I don't think it's that bad for mapping. It's certainly not a fast mapper, but it's reliable for killing those overtuned rares (especially hyper juiced Essence mobs). It's also great for Harvest, cause you can pre-fire those mines while you wait for the mobs to spawn, kill the first wave immediately and then keep on spamming, and the range is quite enough for the small area of these plots. And yea, it is a boss killer, which makes progressing the atlas for many beginners so much easier, cause often times they struggle with defeating the Maven, or Elder/Shaper, with theyre squishy mapping builds. And another unpopular opinion, is that as a softcore trade player, I reaaally love the fact it has so many uniques, and barely any rares to craft. It's so much more comfortable to build and straight forward due to that. These are just the things I'm looking for in a build!
yea i absolutely hate sanctum so i went straight to maps, rares elites and bosses are melted by penance brand in seconds, i'm a bit squishy too but i die due to 4g internet 2s ping spikes more than to actual skill issues lol
it's good at mapping it just doesn't have the defenses to be classified as a great mapper imo. You are pretty paper with just 7k ES and a dream holding you up lol.
When I played it last league, it wasn't squishy at all, tho. It's definitely not a glass canon! You get near 100% spell suppression, 30k Evasion rating, a good amount of block and spell block chance, 80% ele res cap (last league i used all 3 purities so i was at 85% / 86%), pretty good recovery, from the energy shield masteries, ghost dance, zealots oath, etc. , using enfeeble + temporal chains (either one of them with blasphemy, the other on gloves as an on hit corrupt), chaos res capped and then 7k es! It felt really good last league. Of course it could be tankier, but that's enough to do all content almost, I'd rather increase my damage at that point, so I could insta phase those ubers, or one shot sanctum Guardians :D

Is this a build that can function decently off of a sub-10 divine budget? I like to try to find builds that have a playstyle that feel good without having to invest too much into them. I'm definitely wanting to run Sanctum, but I just find that Hexblast Mines isn't really my cup of tea and I'm not sure I want to invest more into it. EDIT: Also can this build play Doryani's? lmao I dropped a 6L one and have no idea what to do with it.
hey im just playing the tristack mines as my second character and its really great so far! there is just one thing when it comes to mapping: at times i think the recovery is lacking ,i took the 5% es over 1 sec when phys hit and have vitality but still i feel like sometimes that isnt enough... to be fair my es pool is just over 4k so i guess my question is: is it worth putting more effort in regen or should i just increase the es pool to make my percentage regen i allready have more effective? and by the way im really enjoying the content thanks alot for your work!
Since I can't really do sanctum on a budget (don't have the skill, don't really care too much tbh), is there a way to start this build heist -> maps just as an hexblast build? and then shift into tristack to farm t17?
It is possible. I did an SSF run where I used hexblast of contradiction mines without the tristack setup. However the great thing about the tristack is that you get a lot of additional mine throws without using minefield, which would siginificantly reduce your mine throwing speed. So it's going to feel quite a bit worse without it. However for heist you don't really need damage you just need to run fast, killing mobs in heist is not really worth it so it's not really relevant what skill you use to do damage. Most heist farmers don't do damage at all actually.
that version is still good but it's just a lot worse for sanctum so lance doesn't make many vids on it. I'm sure there are a few on poe ninja to check out.
Yo Lance! Any reason why Penance Brand isn't a go-to end game? Why Hexblast over Penance? Was the nerf too hard last patch and killed it for end game content? I was hoping to replay the build you've put out on Affliction since that was the best char I've ever played, but if it's dead I'll probably change my plan. thanks for the builds as always
Hexblast is omega brain off energy and has no ramp. It auto aims at everthing around you while with penance you have to click on top of the enemies. The ramp is also pretty annoying at least until GG gear.
i failed my first two sanctum runs with this build by getting 1-shotted from off screen by a sniper who had followed me whom i didnt know was there, same thing both times. Sucks.
Experience, trial and error. Hated it for 2 leagues straight but practiced it this league and it's pretty good now.also just do low life hex occult,1 turns are great
Oh Im intrigued now, I was planning to do a Sanctum rush, but as an Occ Hexblast I dont know if the PoB I have is enough damage, so I might do the same as you, I will definetly try a couple runs
can you please make a sanctum guide as well? for the past two leagues ive been checking on you but this time it really picked my interest. but the thing is, i hate sanctum, the reward pool is very shallow but if i can see the early sanctum, i may change my mind about it. probably there are some people like me.
Ran this last 2 leagues builds a monster. Get a hh and it gets crazy fast

I did some test run, and i think at least for me fastest/easiest way to level will be just ascend to Guardian, let the OP summon carry me to maps, and then swap to Inquisitor. Should be able to respec back with just gold this league, and even if not, there is enought regret points for this (getting just normal+cruel nodes).

How do you sustain Sanctum tomes? I only get a couple a league. I suppose I could buy them but I've never done sanctum very well so worried about losing currency buying them?
One of the main reasons to tristack is to get additional mine throws through curtain call. So I would go a different route if you just want to play penance brand.
On "high" investment, easily. I farmed simu non stop last league. You have to be chaos res capped and your damage output should be decently high to farm consistently
Is this one of those strats that needs to be done in the first 48 hours of league? I can league start Friday night but won't be able to play at all Saturday and possibly sunday. Think that still leaves me in a position to farm sanctum like this when I get back?
sanctum is always money at any point to the league. But of course generally if you invest all that early divines to some items that are getting more expensive later in the league you'd get much more than few days after the league start, but still sanctum is ALWAYS money if you can do it.
It's of course hard to say with changes to MF, but in the past all of the items in his tristack pob got cheaper the longer the league went while sanctum will always provide consistent profits all the way through.

honestly don't think you need to change much, most of the damage you get is generic stuff for most spells. Just change the helmet for something like crown of inward eyes and cruise with penance brand.
On high end gear how do you solve the helical vendor craft nerf (I'm referring to the fact GGG removed the vendor craft the let you "remove" the fractured mod on the helical ring if the orb does not hit the affix you want it to hit)?

I played tri stack in the Necropolis League to the extent that I built a tri stack with 1.5 mirrors and earned 3 mirrors .
From that experience I understand that adorned and helical ring play a very important role in the tri stack, but they have been nerfed.
This nerf is expected to be very hard on this build.

I played this last league and despite normally doing a lot of sanctums each league (like 1 week of farming them straight each league since tomes got introduced), I failed my first two sanctums (one quest book and I spent rest of my currency on a second one) and had to do some very uncomfortable rerolling. Maybe it's a skill issue, but I would say going shockwave totem on hiero or any hexblast shadow is a much better way to go about starting sanctum early.
If you mess this up like I have, you can't really do maps easily, so please make sure to take this into account. This is nothing against this build guide or Lance - he makes some really great stuff.
The upside this league though is with gold based respeccing now it should actually be a lot easier to pivot early on a bricked build.

What does a normal ROTP build look like? Until now I have only been using gimmicks to hit the appropriate reservation efficiency, like the Kalandra flipped ring and blood nodes from the warlock in affliction.

Im probably going to do this start once again while people figure out more or less whats good for melee, looking either at a berserker or warden, the currency you get from sanctum just feels so good early
hey! I played this last league and it was really good.
The only issue I had was with uber lab, I had to deactivate energy blade and change to life gear before the boss or make 0 mistakes with the traps.
Do you have any recommendations about this?

One thing that I find works super good with the weighted sums stuff you setup for people is to instead of sort by cheapest, put in how much currency you want to spend in the 'buyout price max' field (for example 5c), then do the search and sort by weighted sum.

I'm late to the energy blade party as I only found your stuff recently but as a build template it looks fascinating. I'll be doing some dry runs this week of starters and this is definitely in there. Got to say I'm not sold on the aesthetics of the templar in a ghostwrithe - the stuff of nightmares lol.
Do you happen to have a POB for an endgame Penance Brand Sanctum farmer? I've been looking around at various sources and I'm not sure how to sort out the data.
Unpopular opinion: I don't think it's that bad for mapping.
It's certainly not a fast mapper, but it's reliable for killing those overtuned rares (especially hyper juiced Essence mobs).
It's also great for Harvest, cause you can pre-fire those mines while you wait for the mobs to spawn, kill the first wave immediately and then keep on spamming, and the range is quite enough for the small area of these plots.
And yea, it is a boss killer, which makes progressing the atlas for many beginners so much easier, cause often times they struggle with defeating the Maven, or Elder/Shaper, with theyre squishy mapping builds.
And another unpopular opinion, is that as a softcore trade player, I reaaally love the fact it has so many uniques, and barely any rares to craft. It's so much more comfortable to build and straight forward due to that. These are just the things I'm looking for in a build!
yea i absolutely hate sanctum so i went straight to maps, rares elites and bosses are melted by penance brand in seconds, i'm a bit squishy too but i die due to 4g internet 2s ping spikes more than to actual skill issues lol
Once you switch into mines you can do whatever, i think he means at first before you have currency to switch to tri stack it isnt good for mapping
it's good at mapping it just doesn't have the defenses to be classified as a great mapper imo. You are pretty paper with just 7k ES and a dream holding you up lol.

When I played it last league, it wasn't squishy at all, tho. It's definitely not a glass canon!
You get near 100% spell suppression, 30k Evasion rating, a good amount of block and spell block chance, 80% ele res cap (last league i used all 3 purities so i was at 85% / 86%), pretty good recovery, from the energy shield masteries, ghost dance, zealots oath, etc. , using enfeeble + temporal chains (either one of them with blasphemy, the other on gloves as an on hit corrupt), chaos res capped and then 7k es! It felt really good last league. Of course it could be tankier, but that's enough to do all content almost, I'd rather increase my damage at that point, so I could insta phase those ubers, or one shot sanctum Guardians :D

Is this a build that can function decently off of a sub-10 divine budget? I like to try to find builds that have a playstyle that feel good without having to invest too much into them. I'm definitely wanting to run Sanctum, but I just find that Hexblast Mines isn't really my cup of tea and I'm not sure I want to invest more into it.

hey im just playing the tristack mines as my second character and its really great so far!
there is just one thing when it comes to mapping: at times i think the recovery is lacking ,i took the 5% es over 1 sec when phys hit and have vitality but still i feel like sometimes that isnt enough... to be fair my es pool is just over 4k so i guess my question is: is it worth putting more effort in regen or should i just increase the es pool to make my percentage regen i allready have more effective?

You buy them from other players with the currency you get in sanctums.
Since I can't really do sanctum on a budget (don't have the skill, don't really care too much tbh), is there a way to start this build heist -> maps just as an hexblast build? and then shift into tristack to farm t17?
It is possible. I did an SSF run where I used hexblast of contradiction mines without the tristack setup. However the great thing about the tristack is that you get a lot of additional mine throws without using minefield, which would siginificantly reduce your mine throwing speed. So it's going to feel quite a bit worse without it.
However for heist you don't really need damage you just need to run fast, killing mobs in heist is not really worth it so it's not really relevant what skill you use to do damage. Most heist farmers don't do damage at all actually.
Is the CoC version not recommended anymore? I had a blast shattering everything with Ice Spear of Splitting a couple leagues ago.
that version is still good but it's just a lot worse for sanctum so lance doesn't make many vids on it. I'm sure there are a few on poe ninja to check out.

Yo Lance! Any reason why Penance Brand isn't a go-to end game? Why Hexblast over Penance? Was the nerf too hard last patch and killed it for end game content? I was hoping to replay the build you've put out on Affliction since that was the best char I've ever played, but if it's dead I'll probably change my plan.

Hexblast is omega brain off energy and has no ramp. It auto aims at everthing around you while with penance you have to click on top of the enemies. The ramp is also pretty annoying at least until GG gear.

i failed my first two sanctum runs with this build by getting 1-shotted from off screen by a sniper who had followed me whom i didnt know was there, same thing both times. Sucks.

Ran this last 2 leagues builds a monster. Get a hh and it gets crazy fast
I did some test run, and i think at least for me fastest/easiest way to level will be just ascend to Guardian, let the OP summon carry me to maps, and then swap to Inquisitor. Should be able to respec back with just gold this league, and even if not, there is enought regret points for this (getting just normal+cruel nodes).

One of the main reasons to tristack is to get additional mine throws through curtain call. So I would go a different route if you just want to play penance brand.

On "high" investment, easily. I farmed simu non stop last league. You have to be chaos res capped and your damage output should be decently high to farm consistently
Is this one of those strats that needs to be done in the first 48 hours of league? I can league start Friday night but won't be able to play at all Saturday and possibly sunday. Think that still leaves me in a position to farm sanctum like this when I get back?
sanctum is always money at any point to the league. But of course generally if you invest all that early divines to some items that are getting more expensive later in the league you'd get much more than few days after the league start, but still sanctum is ALWAYS money if you can do it.
It's of course hard to say with changes to MF, but in the past all of the items in his tristack pob got cheaper the longer the league went while sanctum will always provide consistent profits all the way through.

probably chaos damage, it goes through energy shield unless you have the coruscating elixir up

honestly don't think you need to change much, most of the damage you get is generic stuff for most spells. Just change the helmet for something like crown of inward eyes and cruise with penance brand.

Noob Here. How this build deals with chaos damage?
On high end gear how do you solve the helical vendor craft nerf (I'm referring to the fact GGG removed the vendor craft the let you "remove" the fractured mod on the helical ring if the orb does not hit the affix you want it to hit)?
Buy more helicals....no other way. But Kalandra rings will probably be better anyway ;)
