Bluebirds in Massachusetts, USA have returned for a second brood of the 2024 breeding season. Previously, we saw them raise a successful brood of five chicks, and now they are back to do it all over again. Follow their journey live and unedited 24/7.
Eastern Bluebirds are one of the most beautiful species to grace the eastern parts of the United States, and this nest takes us to Massachusetts, where the female is incubating a clutch of four eggs. They typically lay between four and six, so this nest is right in the middle. Bluebirds are one of the few species that can have multiple broods in a single breeding season, so it won’t be a surprise if they come back again.
Our previous live Bluebird camera in Kentucky wasn't as successful. There were several chicks that did not make it, and we were forced to take it offline. Much to our surprise, one of the chicks fledged early, presumably to escape the extreme heat. Let's hope this nest in Massachusetts is successful as the last.
