+GameSlimia Read Romans with the proper context and then you'll understand Paul was talking about the fact that meat sold in the markets had been given pagan prayers and blessings. It had nothing to do with the consuming of animals and everything to do with Christians that were scared of consequences coming from pagan blessings on food. Just like when I had a missionary friend who was terrified that she would get sick for taking off her hat at a Buddhist temple when they asked us to. I had faith and knew that God was bigger than that, she had less faith and had to do a protection prayer.

Definitely, the kind of slaughter that God prescribed in the Old testament was for ritual purposes and not commercial, those animals were ritually sacrificed in significantly more humane conditions, they were well fed and taken care of even Jesus himself would be angry at the kind of torture and suffering and abuse these animals are put through in modern day conditions.

+JwahAmore41 Faith, hope and love say no to meat eating in sooo many ways. Here's just a few. Faith that we will be just fine/healthy/happy/satisfied without meat. Hope that the original design will one day be restored, where the lion will lay down with the lamb and that there will be no more suffering. And love shows compassion, kindness and mercy especially to "the least of these". Love puts that faith and hope into practice. If we are called by/to Grace, we will have a new desire of love. A desire to help and not to kill, not to indulge in gluttony at the expense of another. Grace says no my brother.

@@thewatcher7728 Oh no! not you again, You're literally everywhere, and you always ignore context, God gives this permission in Genesis 9 AFTER the "fall" and to a "fallen" humanity as a concession, because God was aware of man's hard-heartedness and rebellious condition as a result of the fall, but from the beginning it was not so, it was the Vegan creation of Genesis 1 that God declared as "very good" but He never once says that about the Genesis 9 creation, why stop at verse 3? notice that when you go all the way down to verse 5 it says "Surely for your lifeblood I will demand a reckoning; from the hand of every beast I will require it, and from the hand of man. From the hand of every man’s brother I will require the life of man" which is not a positive note, also it says that the animals will be in "dread" and "fear" of human beings, something we do not see in the PERFECT and SINLESS creation of Genesis 1, "fear" entered the world as result of the fall, there is NOTHING "Very good" about the Genesis 9 post flood creation, which is why a Vegan diet is God’s ideal diet for humanity because it is closer to God's original design and according to Isaiah 11:6-9 God will restore his Creation back to the original Genesis state in His future Kingdom, BUT for NOW God has certainly permitted us to eat meat, so you technically can eat whatever you want, it is not a sin to eat meat, but why force your non-veg ideology on others you TYRANT? doesn't the Bible say in Romans 14 "one who eats everything *must not belittle the one who does not,* and the one who does not eat everything must not judge the one who does, for God has accepted him. Who are you to judge someone else’s servant? To his own master he stands or falls" and in verse 21 it says *It is better not to eat meat or drink wine or to do anything else that will cause your brother or sister to stumble* and here you are judging/ belittling this brother/sister in Christ for abstaining from meat, how opposite are you from Apostle Paul who says
"Therefore, if what I eat causes my brother or sister to fall into sin *I will never eat meat again, so that I will not cause them to fall.* other translations says *" as long as i live"* and *"as long as the world stands"* 1 Corinthians 8:13 so Paul is willing to sacrifice eating meat for as long as he lived if it offends a fellow believer or causes them to fall, you CAN eat whatever the hell you want but you have no right to judge others for what they do or do not eat.

I no longer feel alone. As a vegetarian Christian kid in a meat farming area, I was very alone and I copped a lot of flak. As I got older and became vegan, I found no matter how much I loved church, I could not lie any more. They were happy so long as I kept quiet even though when it was my turn to provide food after the service, everyone chowed down happily and enjoyed it. It eventually became too painful to attend any more as every service seemed to be about things I did not feel comfortable with and when I was targeted and told not to take offence I realised how warped it all is. I am a stronger Christian than ever, I just no longer put up with living two lives. I dream of an Edenic church and believe He will provide.

I may need some prayers on this one as well.
I got in a lot of heat on Easter for not wanting to be part of meat filled dinner. I know it is not for me to demand change in others.
That said, 1 Corinthians 8:13 “ Therefore, if what I eat causes my brother or sister to fall into sin, I will never eat meat again, so that I will not cause them to fall.” This seems to suggest that the Christian response to this is forsaking indulgence in flesh so as to be inclusive of those who find consuming animals offensive.
Does this make anyone who refuses to set aside meat for the sake of the spiritual well being of their brothers and sisters in Christ a callous individual or bad Christian-I should think not. Spiritual growth is continual. Sometimes it is via “great awakenings”, but more often it is slowly removing blocks between us and God’s Love.
I feel blessed that I have been given a piece of a Heavenly inheritance. I now have the responsibility to hold it down so that I can rejoice with and support my brothers and sisters when this truth invariably resonates with them.

@@JamesZaraza-wv3gt Stand strong. For many years it was me alone. At Easter, Christmas, birthdays, I would take my own food for my daughter and I - everyone would eat our food and their food and we would invariably be left with scraps and still given a lecture on how God gave us meat... Today, around half of my family are vegan (last count, 16 vegans and another half a dozen or so are trying at least. And over the years we have lost count at the number of friends (including church-goers) who are now vegan - we led by example so sadly even though we received constant criticism and ridicule - and lectures (even sermons by no less than two pastors) we just stood our ground and eventually people woke up x

I grew up Christian and over the past few years strayed away because I felt religion was destroying my relationship with God. I began saying "I love God but hate religion" 6 months ago I went vegan and a friend of mine who studies the bible and is a strict Christian told me its his God given right, it's ok because he prays over his food, the bible says people who eat plants alone are weak, God requested sacrifice and Jesus ate meat, ect. Due to all of this, the past few months I have been angry with God. last night I screamed and cried. I sat outside on my porch, looked up at the sky and screamed at God. Asking him why people used him as an excuse to justify his actions. Why wasn't he doing anything? Why does he allow his followers to do such cruel things? I was so angry. I also felt so guilty because I know what I was doing was a sin. I have insulted the bible many times over the past 6 months while debating with my friend, but thanks to you and your video, I believe the bible supports veganism. My friend was taking parts out of the bible that fit his current lifestyle and using it to justify eating animals, simply because he doesn't want to change. I really can not thank you enough for helping me. so much stress has been lifted. I do believe a vegan can also be a Christian now.

Yeah, it seems like there would be more vegan Christians out there, considering Christians see God as compassionate, loving, and peaceful. It seems inconsistent to me that Christians wouldn't put the compassion they say they believe in on their plates, especially when eating animals is unnecessary. Hard to take their messages of compassion and mercy seriously when their bellies are full of dead sentient beings that lived lives of misery just so they could end up there. Very strange. Yeah, I don't buy it.

What a wonderful video! I have been vegan for around 20 years, part of my reason for becoming vegetarian first and then vegan was my spirituality, the other part was compassion for all living beings. I have been christian my whole life but did have a time where I strayed and fell into a dark place. I always had my veganism though, it has always made me feel close to God! I since was able to pick myself up and become born again. Occasionally I'll come across something that just lifts me and let's me know I'm on the right path, today it was this video, for that I thank you, God Bless!

Jesus was not a vegetarian. The Bible records Jesus eating fish (Luke 24:42-43) and lamb (Luke 22:8-15). Jesus miraculously fed the crowds fish and bread, a strange thing for Him to do if He was a vegetarian (Matthew 14:17-21). In a vision to the apostle Peter, Jesus declared all foods to be clean, including animals (Acts 10:10-15). After the flood in Noah's time, God gave humanity permission to eat meat (Genesis 9:2-3). God has never rescinded this permission.
Don't take my words for it PLEAS good people read the Bible for yourself.

"believe and know the truth", about food laws? or Jewish ceremonial laws?
In other words new Gentile converts were confused and being taught by some that they must practice abolished Jewish holy days
These verses have nothing to do with a dispute over eating animal flesh as killing and eating animals was normal practice on their feast days.

The literal Greek word = food, not meat. Focus is on the idols. Certainly not an injunction to eat meat. 500,000 people a year die from lifestyle choices. Our body is a temple that should not be destroyed by carcinogens, fat, and poisons. Don't defend your addiction with Scripture.

What an excellent teaching on veganism from a Biblical perspective. I grew up in a Christian and Bible based home and church all my life. For the first 30 years of my life and never thought twice about how we relate to animals or nature. This is why it is so important to always the read the Bible with your eyes open, with the help revelation of the Holy Spirit and to always ask God after every scripture reading 'What do you require of me, my Lord'. The word needs to be alive and speak to us and into our everyday lives. I am so thankful that God openend my eyes. I have been vegan for 2 years and really feel such sorrow about all the years that I was responsible for putting animals through unimaginable suffering. I wish I could undo what I have done. Only thing left to do now is to spread the word about veganism and God's heart for animals and nature and continue to pray into a vegan world.

I mentioned VERY casually the other day that my husband and I aren’t eating meat right now. I assumed it wasn’t a big deal since it’s January and most people are making diet changes right now. IMMEDIATELY an associate of mine said “BUT GOD GAVE US MEAT TO EAT AND SAID IT WAS GOOD! WE ARE SUPPOSED TO EAT MEAT!” I was honestly shocked, because since I have stopped eating animal products I feel much more connected to His creation and have begun seeing error in consuming meat in the way we do in the US.

+Hanle de Beer since you wanted to quote Daniel and about his eating vegetables.. it is clear you did not study or read this passage. The point of the whole passage was that Daniel and his companions knew that eating only vegetables would make them weaker so they turned to God for faith to prove to the pagans that God would protect them. This story is not about God wanting man to only eat vegetables but about God showing his power through faith and why he is the true living God by giving man a strength and better appearance when they were eating a weaker diet that would decrease the vitality of everyone else.. but a man of faith that trusted in God to let them stay strong on a weaker diet.

+SouthernDawg36 What an ignorant thing to say! Have you not seen the many vegan athletes who are outperforming the meat eaters? There are weight lifters who have won competitions being vegans and runners who can outrun any meat eater. And how dare you say that the ONLY diet God commanded humans to eat (Gen. 1:29) is "weaker"??? Just because God allowed us to follow our own lusts it doesn't mean the truth of what He knows is best has ever changed because God NEVER changes. Eating meat is the weaker diet, it's killing people right and left and it's going to kill you before your time too.
Are you really that dense that you do not realize that up to the Flood people lived hundreds of years but after that only a max of 130? My friend, you've just believed the lies the devil puts out there. I will also remind you that in the desert God sent mana, not meat to the people, and when they got unhappy about it He sent them quail but while the meat was still on their teeth they were all killed. Now keep eating your meat and you'll see, I bet you say all that nonsense because you're still young and probably relatively healthy, if so, just wait a few more years when things begin to fall apart and see if your "strong" diet will help you, I waited and waited and it never did.

+Peaceable Kingdom By the way, thank you for taking the time to share this with the world, Christians can be so mindless and carnal sometimes they do not see past their noses. I've sent the link to this video to my adult daughter who loves animals, she was defending her eating "ethically" treated meat saying Jesus ate fish (which I personally believe can't be true) but even so, why eat out of violence and choose 2nd best? The only reason Christians want to eat animals after knowing how abominable that practice is nowadays is because their flesh demands it, and we all know what we need to do about that, we can only please God when living in the spirit, end of story! And I'm not saying all this with cockiness as I too was blind for way too many years, I say it because I still haven't fully gotten over the guilt of having been a part of the suffering of so many beautiful creatures of God and for abusing what is supposed to be the Temple of the Holy Spirit which resulted in the loss of my health (but I can see many signs that my body is repairing itself).

+Wingchun Exceptions based on need are not the same as wilful torturing and killing of sentient animals, but in any case it was just for survival. And btw, the honey back then just dripped from the honeycombs (as still does out in the 'wild') so NO comodification of the bees was made.

    • @latinainwpb
      @latinainwpb 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I wasn't necessarily thinking of the honey when I wrote that. In the wild, honey very often drips from beehives, which is probably why people began thinking of starting commercial beehives. I'm a new vegan anyway and don't have much knowledge of the process but what I've read it's that it's exploitation because by taking too much of the honey the bees are forced to work harder to supply their own needs, and that getting the honey, bee pollen, etc. kills many bees (maybe they're talking about those that are developing in the cells, idk).

I absolutely love this video. I was raised Catholic and became very disillusioned with my religion and in fact with all religion. I still feel it's very divisive but this video has restored my interest in exploring the Bible again I'm going to be seeking out all of the passages that were mentioned in this wonderful video and let's see where it takes me. I have been listening to my heart to my gut really what I feel is to God within me. Again thank you for creating this thoughtful open-minded presentation. PS I gave up eating animal flesh 40 years ago and am vegan 20 years. I am a founding PETA member since 1980. Animals are most precious to me. We are so blessed to share Earth with them. They deserve the utmost respect from humans, the opposite of what they have received. We MUST divest our stored energy our $$ from animal concentration camps pharma medical and military industrial complex NO MATTER THE % PER ANNUM INTEREST RECEIVED.

I am a Christian and a vegan and want to thank you so much for sharing the Scriptures on this issue! An issue that too few people know about is that raising animals for food is so inefficient that it is one of the primary drivers of worldwide starvation, rainforest deforestation, ocean acidification, etc. In my opinion, the standard western diet which focuses heavily on meat, eggs and dairy, which is so resource inefficient to produce, and contributes to millions of people, nearly half of which are defenseless children, dying of starvation every year, is the sin of gluttony. Just wanted to add that opinion to this already very complete and well-researched video!

I am a Christian Vegan. Vegan for 1 year and born again christian for a month. So I have been struggling as I am learning this new way of life with Christ, along with being a Vegan + activist. Going to church where they talk about food, and it's all animal products, makes me feel not right nor good or a place I want to be to worship god. It's so beautiful to read all the comments. There are more Christian Vegans that are able to see near us. God bless you all

Thank you dear David for being thoughtful and a vegan.
As a human/spiritual being I don't have to study scriptures to understand that I don't want be happy to eat my prescious friends, the animals. Eating "meat" means supporting cruelty and suffering, which is most unfair and heartless.
Unfortunately, only a few of religious people found their heart, no matter how hard they pray. Sad to say, but as one of the famous vegetarians Leonardo daVinci said: "as long as there are slaughterhouses, there will be war". Well, just look at the world...

I am a Christian vegan. Not trying to start an argument. I agree with all the Scriptures. Jesus ate fish after his resurrection. I don't eat fish because of all the pollution. The priests ate sacrificed animals and they were holy. But God commanded a way of sacrifice that was done with kindness and much less suffering. The animals nowadays are treated cruelly. The animals are also very polluted and sick. I can't afford grass fed animals. The cows etc are full of GMOs and lots of other harmful things. To me it just makes sense that I can't get well eating sick animals. So I eat a plant based diet to the glory of God. My husband doesn't agree. Neither does my dog. But we all get along😊

Doleta Wood there is no such thing as ethical slaughter. Just leave life be, and die naturally.
Good job on your veganism though :-), regarding the scriptures: it's really still debatable if the fish wasn't Jewish fishweed, and whether it's not a reference to the mystical symbology of Jesus as representing an era or his energy or sth, which is symbolized through the fish symbology.

Doleta Wood 😂😂 So funny about your husband and dog not agreeing! My husband and my sons dont too and I am the cook 🙄😅 I am not a vegan but I have cut down on meat a lot because I am so sad about factory farming and animal exploitation. I try to buy organic free range. still eat fish (just cos Jesus ate when He resurrected) and seafood.

    • @Dandelion_flight
      @Dandelion_flight 4 ปีที่แล้ว

@KyleAroundTheWorld I am not a vegan but I have cut down on so much meat and meat products and have stopped taking animal milk, not because I am getting caught up with the vegan movement but because it is very true that animals are suffering tremendously because of human selfish exploitation of them. It is all human beings cooperating with demons to exploit and abuse animals for their selfish profits and to satisfy their taste buds. While we should not worship a diet, we should care for the needs of animals even if they are to be used for food, right? Read Proverbs 12:10. I think sometimes the vegans have more compassion and self-control because they are able to stop eating meat for the sake of animals. We Christians ought to have better self-control which is a fruit of the Holy Spirit. And self-control is definitely applicable to our diet as well. I no long support factory farming meats but only buy organically farmed meats for my family. At least i know these animals have a lived a good life before they were slaughtered. They are not confined in pens in their own excrement and allowed a much better life. As for those intensive farmed animals, they suffer from birth to death day and they live in their pee and poo. Have you even seen that? How can we not care about them? Please if you have instagram, look up @thesavemovement @weanimals @total_liberation_israel @roeeshpernik @veganvikingell @tal__gilboa Just see the truth for yourself. If the photos and the videos do not break your heart, then I do not know what else would. Animals are suffering because of human taste buds. It's all because of human sin and hardness of heart that the Lord God allowed us to eat meat but human beings are exploiting them to the max.

Thank you very much for this video compiling many of the questions and arguments I have encountered dealing with fellow Christians regarding my veganism. I was waiting for 2 more explanations though: when Christ multiplied and fed the fish and loaves of bread and when He told them to cast the nets on the right side of the boat and there were so many fish they couldn't bring the nets up. Have you found any explanation for these accounts in the bible? Thank you.

    • @munciephotography

I am still tackling that mystery, In the end it seems like discrepancies exist in translations and change content over time. I dont want to outright make the claim scriptures are wrong because i am not that level of scholar. I do wonder why so many church fathers claim Jesus did not eat meat and neither did the disciples in their ministry. Why was it such a hot debate in the church (if Jesus ate meat it would have never ben an issue. If Jesus was a meat eater would he have cleared the temple?). Why would James insist for believers to abstain from eating strangled animals. As of now i do not have a satisfying answer and I cannot say definitively that Jesus was vegan. but I do know even if in that time and place some fish was essential for nutrition it dosnt justify moderns for what we do to the species. There is only one account of Jesus eating a fish and that was after the resurrection. That should not convince anyone to eat meat but it does create a paradox.

My own personal theory is this [and keep in mind I'm by no means an expert and can only give my speculation]
      1) when Jesus multiplied the fish, it was for two reasons
Firstly, the fish were already dead. True, Him being Jesus, he could've breathed life back into them, but that leads to my second point that He fed a multitude.thousands of people with a mere few fish. Had he not multiplied those two, those people probably would've gone fishing themselves or gone to go eat meat at the market. So by multiplying the already dead fish, he saved more animals from suffering in the long run.
      2) It's possible Jesus created the fish out of nothing
Him being Jesus and given that the account said they had been fishing all day, rather than run the risk of them actually catching alive, sentient fish, he could've created the fish out of nothing so as to save more fish from suffering in the short run of things.
As for Jesus eating fish, I heard it wasn't actually fish but dried fish weed

Neko .Zombie very insightful. great thoughts. There is a lot we still dont know and may never know. until the facts are in Its best to assume the one who created them did not intend to torture them. I believe there is a lot lost in the translations but I dont know what so I made this so we can at least have a biblical conversation that validates vegan philosophy. Thanks for your thoughts

This comment section makes me feel at home, peace to everyone in here, wow people don’t know in the world that Jesus WAS and IS vegetarian, a few years back I was in deep depression from sins and I came into a HUGE spiritual awakening that led to angelic and prophetic encounters with highly chosen people, and god through them revealed to me the Gospel Of The Holy Twelve, the original text of the Gospel that was re written through out the years, and as soon as I read it everything made sense as regards to the law, our earthly mother, the universe, the washing away of sins and much more it was amazing and god did not intend for us eat meat what so ever..I highly encourage anyone who seeks truth to read that Gospel, there is sooo much heaven on it to those who have eyes to see..I love all y’all and blessings to everyone’s journey in life much much love!!!

What does the Bible say about eating God's creatures?
"3 Forbidding to marry--to abstain from meats that God created to be received with thanksgiving by those believing and acknowledging the truth,
4 because every creature of God is good, and nothing is to be rejected, with thanksgiving being received,
5 for it is sanctified through the word of God and intercession.
6 If thou put the brethren in mind of these things, thou shalt be a good minister of Christ Jesus, nourished in the words of the faith, and of the good doctrine which thou hast followed "
      1 Timothy 4:2-5 (YLT)

This is a wonderful study of the Bible. I had no idea that God made a covenant with the animals but it makes perfect sense! I've always hated the predator/prey relationship in nature and how our scientists glibly say "it's how nature is supposed to be", Now I understand what was revealed to Isaiah about peace between all creatures, this is fantastic! THANK YOU! I wish more preachers would take a closer look. Yes we are saved by Faith through Grace and the law is no longer the path to Salvation, but it doesn't mean that God isn't going to bring creation back into line to the way it was before the fall. He most certainly will. It says the animals yearn for that day. We should rejoice that such things are to be!!!
