    put the engine in the middle but on top of the rear axle, seems like a great idea if you had independent suspension

    Have you considered about the chain? If the axle moves the chain will fall off! Also, you mentioned that it will be like a truck, well the "brackets" you made are to close to the wheels. Trucks have one independent bracket which connects to the diff so it has some play, the way you put it together i think it will not work. In my opinion you should fabricate your own axles. Think like it is a T letter... The chain will connect to the center and then it will transfer it to the wheels. Im sorry if i made any mistakes i don't speak very good English, also this is my opinion and my tips, I don't have much mechanical knowledge. P. s i love your work man. Greetings from a fan from Greece

    the way your setting that axle up your either going to throw your chain or just plain snap it by putting it in a bind hope your smart and lock it down

    Chain will fall off with the articulating axle

    • @brianlarabel
      @brianlarabel 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Jimmy Bobbly exactly.

    • @MacroMachines
      @MacroMachines 7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      definitely, and there isn't really any significant advantage to the articulating axle.

    • @npickart
      @npickart 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jimmy Bobbly false. there are ways to do it right where the chain isn't affected.

    • @grizzlymafia4489
      @grizzlymafia4489 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nate P how please inform me? If the secondary sprocket is on the solid rear axle, how rather b welding was originally planning on doing it the chain would fall all unless the sprocket itself could articulate on that articulating axle, or he could have converted it to a shaft drive set up with some orientation of u joints/cv joints, if u are going to argue the fact please expand rather than simply denying the fact by saying where there is a will there is a way thanks. I also dont belive rather be welding is willing to spend a fortune to build and design a full independant suspension setup that can be seen on most buggy's and four wheelers seen today with an input drive, differential, cv axles, hubs ect.

    • @MacroMachines
      @MacroMachines 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Jimmy Bobbly Your original comment was definitely right. I think that Nate P is thinking of something like you just mentioned with using u joints/ differential etc. but that would be a completely different setup than shown in the video

  • @gt1man931
    @gt1man931 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Okay, I commented at the half way point.
    Now that I have seen it all and where you are going it is much worse. Good luck with that.
    A darn shame, that engine is far better than what you are building.
    Don't hurt yourself. I still like you even though that will never run up or down any trails. :)

  • @rileycoyot42
    @rileycoyot42 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hey man, you can have that independent suspension in the rear if you just cut rear axel in half and run a jack shaft coming off the engine and have that jack shaft power a sprocket on each side of the axel. This way either side of the axel will sway independent from each other but both wheels will still be powered

    Weren't those carts with the engine all the way out to the side designed for racing? That's a heavy motor. It's going to take curves much better in one direction than the other.

  • @blaisekeys4665
    @blaisekeys4665 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Chain will most likely fall off and all the weight will be on the right side with the engine over there. No traction for the rear and will wear out those shocks. I think you should put the motor behind the axle or in front in the middle so there's a better chance of you getting traction with those small tires and less wear on all your parts

  • @gt1man931
    @gt1man931 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Those tires are plenty of rubber and more than enough for a road kart. Do not do a suspension unless you are going off road.
    Just make sure to build it flat and straight, that will be a challenge enough with your means.
    Serious horsepower, do not half way anything.

    FYI inside of u joints you may want to look at CV joints and axles from FWD cars in the junk yard. Each car will have two different lengths so you would need to find two similar models using one from each car make
    sure to pull from the same side of each car.

    there is a flaw with your rear end in order for the rear end to move side to side you would need a joint or the welds might snap the axel is acting like a sway bar and will transfer the movement to the other wheel.

  • @zacharyturner7913

    u have to run u joints on the rear end inorder to have independent suspension
    if not your chain will bind and fall off
    or just run a little straight axle like out of a atv or fourwheeler or something. anyway good luck man, keep the videos coming👌👍👍!!

  • @MrInnovativeEnergy

    Use some junk yard CV joints and hubs. Machine a center power distribution point. Single A-Arm should be fine. More work but plush suspension and decent travel. Just a thought. GS500 engine will prolly burn those tires right off the rim the more I think about it = ) I'll be glad to draw it out for you in 3-d Cad if you like. I have a 4x8 plasma cnc table if you need any brackets cut.

  • @kbakeritsallaboutnobody.5761
    @kbakeritsallaboutnobody.5761 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    you should have a 2 sprockets, 1 on each rear tire and use the solid axle like a jack shaft with 2 sprockets on it (1 on each end) with 2 chains driving each rear wheel. I hope you understand what I'm saying but I think there shouldn't be a solid axle between the rear wheels with a "flexible" set up like you have there because it's just putting a lot of strain and issues on the 1 chain and if you do some how keep the chain on I think it will wear out and break quickly because of all the flexing.

    • @ratherBweldingChris
      @ratherBweldingChris  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      ken baker I was actually thinking of building it like that and I wanted to but if I did that I would have to put the brake on the jack shaft and if the chains fell off from the jack shaft to the tires I would not have any brakes. But for a while I was going to build it like that.

    • @kbakeritsallaboutnobody.5761
      @kbakeritsallaboutnobody.5761 7 ปีที่แล้ว
